Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The best starting setup for most mobile players is a custom preset with 30 or 45 FPS, Medium render resolution, Low shadows, and Medium effects. Use 30 FPS on an older or overheating device; try 45 FPS if your device offers it and stays stable. Reserve 60 FPS for devices that can sustain it during longer sessions. If characters rubber-band or actions register late, that is likely network latency—not a graphics problem.
These are starting points, not guaranteed results: performance depends on your device, cooling, game version, and the scene you are playing. Settings and labels can vary by platform and client version. Guidance and requirements below were checked against HoYoverse support information on September 28, 2026.
First, tell frame-rate lag from network lag
Graphics settings can reduce choppiness caused by rendering load, heat, or limited memory. They cannot fix an unstable connection or server-side delay.
- FPS drops or stutter: Movement looks choppy, animations hitch, or the game slows during combat. This points toward device performance, heat, or memory pressure.
- Network latency: Characters rubber-band, enemies react late, co-op disconnects, or actions take time to register. Compare Wi-Fi with cellular data; lowering graphics will not lower ping. HoYoverse suggests switching connections, updating the client, and clearing cache when diagnosing connection problems (connection troubleshooting).
Apply a balanced preset
- Open Genshin Impact, then open the Paimon Menu.
- Select Settings → Graphics.
- Choose Custom for individual controls, then start with the mid-range settings below.
- Restart the game if it asks you to, or if changes do not appear immediately.
If a control is not in that exact location, check Graphics, Display, or Other Settings; menu names can vary by platform, language, and client version. Mobile options are not identical on every device. A community-maintained settings reference lists some platform-dependent choices, but it is not an official specification.

Starting presets by device class
Choose the closest starting point, then adjust one major setting at a time. “Weak” here means older, entry-level, or already struggling hardware—not a formal device category.
Older or low-end device
| Setting | Starting point |
|---|---|
| Graphics Quality | Lowest or Low |
| FPS | 30 |
| Render Resolution | Lowest or Low |
| Shadow Quality | Lowest |
| Visual Effects / Overall Effects | Low |
| Environment Detail | Low |
| SFX Quality | Low |
| Motion Blur | Off |
| Bloom | Off or Low |
| Anti-Aliasing | Lowest available |
| Compatibility Mode | Try On if stuttering, overheating, or glitches persist |
HoYoverse warns that devices meeting only minimum requirements can still have long loading times, low frame rates, freezing, and trouble in demanding scenes. It recommends Low graphics, closing background apps, a stable connection, and current game and operating-system software (minimum-spec performance guidance).
Mid-range device: balanced performance
| Setting | Starting point |
|---|---|
| Graphics Quality | Custom |
| FPS | 30 or 45; use the higher option only if stable |
| Render Resolution | Medium |
| Shadow Quality | Low |
| Visual Effects / Overall Effects | Medium |
| Environment Detail | Medium |
| SFX Quality | Medium |
| Motion Blur | Off |
| Bloom | On if performance remains stable |
| Anti-Aliasing | Medium or standard |
| Compatibility Mode | Off initially; test it if problems persist |
This is a useful quality-performance compromise: it preserves moderate scene and effect detail while avoiding the higher rendering load of a maximum preset.
High-end phone or tablet
| Setting | Starting point |
|---|---|
| Graphics Quality | High, then customize if needed |
| FPS | 60 if sustained; otherwise 45 or 30 |
| Render Resolution | High |
| Shadow Quality | Medium or High |
| Visual Effects / Overall Effects | High |
| Environment Detail | Medium or High |
| SFX Quality | High |
| Motion Blur | Preference |
| Bloom | On |
| Anti-Aliasing | High |
| Compatibility Mode | Off unless troubleshooting |
Powerful hardware is not immune to heat-related slowdowns. Long sessions, a hot room, charging, or demanding areas can reduce sustained performance; a high setting that feels smooth briefly may not stay smooth.

Choose 30, 45, or 60 FPS
- 30 FPS: Start here on older, weaker, or overheating devices. It is generally easier to sustain and reduces rendering workload compared with aiming higher.
- 45 FPS: A middle ground when the option is available and the device can maintain it consistently.
- 60 FPS: Offers more responsive motion, but use it only if performance remains steady without severe heat or frequent drops.
- 120 FPS: Do not assume this is available just because a device has a 120-Hz display. Game support depends on the current client and device; check the in-game options on your specific setup.
A stable 30 or 45 FPS usually feels better than a target that fluctuates constantly. HoYoverse recommends lowering the frame rate— including from 60 to 30 when troubleshooting graphical problems—and reducing it when a device overheats (graphical troubleshooting; overheating and stuttering guidance).
What to lower first when performance is poor
For a practical first-pass order—not a universal benchmark—reduce the settings most likely to affect sustained rendering before sacrificing every visual detail:
- Lower the FPS target. If 60 fluctuates, test 45 or 30.
- Lower Render Resolution. This reduces the number of pixels rendered, but can make characters, text, and distant objects look softer.
- Lower Shadow Quality. Shadows are often a worthwhile visual compromise: the scene loses detail, but the effect on gameplay is usually limited.
- Lower Environment Detail. This can reduce richness in foliage, cities, and other dense areas.
- Lower Visual or Special Effects. This is especially worth testing if slowdowns happen during elemental reactions, bursts, or co-op combat.
- Reduce texture or SFX quality if needed. Lowering these can reduce detail and may help memory-constrained devices or asset-loading stutter.
- Try secondary post-processing cuts. Motion blur, bloom, and anti-aliasing are generally later adjustments. Turning off motion blur can improve perceived clarity; bloom changes the lighting look. Keep the lowest anti-aliasing setting you find acceptable.
HoYoverse specifically recommends reducing shadows, texture quality, and resolution for stuttering and frame-rate drops, along with closing unnecessary apps and ensuring adequate ventilation (frame-drop guidance). Change one major setting at a time so you can tell which adjustment helped.
Test the preset under real play conditions
- Apply your settings and fully close and relaunch the game.
- Go to the place where the problem usually occurs—not just the login screen.
- Try open-world traversal, a busy city, combat with several effects, and a domain or event with multiple enemies. Include co-op if that is where you notice the issue.
- Play for at least 10–15 minutes. Note whether the problem starts immediately or only as the device warms up.
- If performance is initially smooth but degrades later, lower FPS or test Compatibility Mode before lowering every visual setting.
Do not treat one short test or an on-screen FPS figure as a guarantee for every area. Sustained performance varies with the processor, memory, operating system, game version, ambient temperature, display, and device cooling.

Reduce overheating and thermal throttling
When a phone or tablet gets too hot, it may reduce performance to manage heat. If the game is smooth at first but starts stuttering later, test the environment and session conditions before stripping out all visual quality:
- Remove a thick case temporarily while testing, and keep tablet or gaming-phone vents unobstructed.
- Play out of direct sunlight and away from a hot room.
- Avoid playing while charging, especially with fast charging.
- Close demanding background apps and let the device cool before retesting.
- Use 30 or 45 FPS if performance falls during a long session.
- Do not put the device in a refrigerator or freezer; condensation can damage it.
HoYoverse’s advice for overheating and stuttering includes lowering graphics and frame rate and enabling Compatibility Mode. To try it, open Settings, find the graphics- or display-related controls, enable Compatibility Mode, restart the game, and retest the same area. Its location can vary. Compatibility Mode may reduce visual quality; it is a troubleshooting option, not a guaranteed performance upgrade.

Check whether the connection is responsible
- Compare Wi-Fi with cellular data, and restart the router if only one Wi-Fi network is affected.
- Temporarily disable a VPN or proxy, if you use one.
- Check whether the delay occurs only in co-op or also in solo play.
- If it seems connection- or server-related, test again later. Graphics changes do not repair an unstable connection.
HoYoverse’s connection guidance also suggests updating the client and clearing cache while diagnosing high latency or connection failures (connection troubleshooting).
Free memory and update software
Close demanding apps such as video players, browsers, screen recorders, floating overlays, and other games. Then update Genshin Impact and Android or iOS/iPadOS, and restart the device after a major update. HoYoverse recommends closing unnecessary apps when troubleshooting crashes, lag, and freezing (crash and lag troubleshooting).

Repair missing assets or graphical errors
If textures are black or missing, maps are broken, NPCs are invisible, or other assets look corrupted, check the game resources:
- At the login screen, select the wrench icon if it is present; or
- Open Paimon Menu → Settings → Resources → Check Resource Integrity.
After repair, restart and test again. HoYoverse lists resource repair among its steps for crashes, lag, and freezing (resource and performance troubleshooting).
Address tearing or settings that seem unchanged
If you see screen tearing, test V-Sync if your client offers it and try a lower FPS target. If a graphics change appears to do nothing, restart the game and repeat the test; some changes may not show immediately. For persistent device-specific glitches, HoYoverse also recommends trying Medium graphics or Compatibility Mode, repairing files, and stabilizing the connection (graphical troubleshooting).
Check whether your device meets the published requirements
HoYoverse’s current published mobile requirements distinguish supported hardware from recommended hardware. Meeting the supported line does not guarantee smooth performance in every scene, and the stated storage needs may increase with future updates. Check the official system requirements for changes.
| Platform | Supported specification | Recommended specification |
|---|---|---|
| Android | ARMv8-A 64-bit; non-PowerVR GPU; Snapdragon 660 or Helio G88 and above; 4 GB RAM or more; Android 10 or later; at least 40 GB available storage | Snapdragon 855, Dimensity 1000, or Kirin 980 and above; 6 GB RAM or more; Android 12 or later; at least 60 GB available storage |
| iOS/iPadOS | iPhone 8 Plus/iPhone X and later; iPad mini (5th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad (8th generation), or later; Apple A11 on iPhone or A12 on iPad and later; 3 GB RAM or more; iOS 14 or later; at least 40 GB available storage | iPhone 12 series or iPad (9th generation) and later; Apple A13 or above; 4 GB RAM or more; iOS 14 or later; at least 60 GB available storage |
As practical headroom, leave more free space than the listed minimum: updates, temporary files, and resource unpacking can need room beyond the installed game. That is a precaution, not a separate HoYoverse storage threshold. If your device is below the published supported specifications—or still performs poorly at the lowest settings—no preset can guarantee smooth play. HoYoverse notes that underpowered devices may have low FPS, long loads, freezing, instability, or crashes. Two devices with similar chips can also behave differently because of cooling, sustained power limits, and software tuning.
