If you want a Halo-themed foam-dart blaster, the NERF Halo MA40 is the clearest all-around pick: it is motorized, includes a removable 10-dart clip and is inspired by the weapon in Halo Infinite. The Mangler is a hand-primed alternative with a six-dart drum, while the Needler pairs a 10-dart drum with light-up needles. These are manufacturer-documented features, not results of a comparative performance or enjoyment test.
Which Halo Nerf blaster should you choose?
| Blaster | Action and capacity | Included darts and other features | Power and age information |
|---|---|---|---|
| NERF Halo MA40 Motorized Dart Blaster | Motorized; removable 10-dart clip. Press the acceleration button to power the motor, then pull the trigger to fire one dart. | 10 official NERF Elite darts; rail riser and other listed components. Inspired by the MA40 in Halo Infinite. | Four 1.5 V C alkaline batteries required, not included. Recommended for ages 8 and up; Hasbro recommends eyewear. Hasbro instructions. |
| NERF Halo Mangler | Pull-back priming handle; rotating six-dart drum. | Six official NERF Elite darts. | Battery and age details are not stated on the cited Hasbro consumer-care page. |
| NERF LMTD Halo Needler | 10-dart drum. | 10 Elite darts; light-up needles and a game card. | Battery and age details are not stated on the cited Hasbro consumer-care page. |
Pick the MA40 for motorized firing
The MA40 is the only one of these three with manufacturer-documented motorized operation. Its 10-dart clip is removable, and the included darts are official NERF Elite darts. Factor in the four required C batteries: they are not in the box. The Hasbro product page and its instructions describe the blaster and its requirements.
Choose the Mangler for pull-back priming
The Mangler offers a different action: pull back its priming handle and use its rotating six-dart drum. It comes with six Elite darts. The cited product page does not establish whether it is currently for sale.
Choose the Needler for its light-up design
The LMTD Needler has light-up needles and a 10-dart drum, with 10 Elite darts included. Its product description also mentions a game card; do not assume that any associated code or online feature is still redeemable or available.

What to know before buying or giving one
Age guidance and safe use
For the MA40, Hasbro recommends the blaster for ages 8 and up. That is the manufacturer’s age recommendation, not a guarantee that it suits every child or setting. Hasbro’s MA40 instructions state: “WARNING: Do not aim at eyes or face. Use of eyewear recommended for players and people within range. Use only official Nerf darts. Other darts may not meet safety standards. Do not modify darts or blaster.” They also state: “WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.” Follow the instructions supplied with the specific blaster.
Game cards and codes may have limits
The MA40 instructions describe an included card or code for an in-game color scheme. The code is subject to a limited validity period, and the add-on requires Halo Infinite separately. Hasbro also notes that online-service requirements apply and features may vary by country or change or be retired. Treat the code as a possible extra, not a guaranteed current benefit. The Needler product description also mentions a game card, but does not establish that its code or online features remain available.

Availability and historical launch prices
Hasbro’s 2020 launch descriptions listed approximate suggested retail prices of $49.99 for the MA40 and $9.99 for a Halo MicroShots blaster, with an availability date of October 1, 2020. These are historical launch figures, not current prices or proof of present stock. The MicroShots description was for a hand-powered, single-shot Halo blaster with two Elite darts and no battery requirement; it is useful as launch-era assortment context, not confirmation of a current listing. The official descriptions distinguish these blasters by their action, dart capacity and Halo-inspired features; they do not provide a comparative test of accuracy, durability, firing performance or enjoyment. The MA40 is the strongest fit if you specifically want motorized operation and a 10-dart clip. The Mangler is the hand-primed option, and the Needler emphasizes its light-up design. Calling any of them “extremely fun” is a matter of taste, not a manufacturer-established result or a hands-on finding.
