For a Kannada video you plan to upload to YouTube and play repeatedly, start with HandBrake’s Web > Creator preset at the source’s resolution and frame rate. Preserve the original frame rate, use constant quality unless you need a target file size, and check a short sample before encoding the whole video. If by “loop stream” you mean sending a prerecorded file to YouTube Live continuously, HandBrake prepares the file but does not run the live stream; use a separate live encoder or cloud service.
First choose the workflow: upload or live broadcast
These are separate jobs, with different settings. In an upload workflow, HandBrake creates a video file that you upload to YouTube; YouTube processes it for playback, and a separate YouTube feature or service would need to repeat it. In a live workflow, a streaming encoder sends the video to YouTube Live as a continuing broadcast. HandBrake’s Creator preset is for making an upload file, not for operating a live stream.
| What you want to do | Where the relevant settings apply | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare a video file for YouTube | HandBrake encode settings, then YouTube’s upload process | Sample playback, audio sync, source frame rate, and upload compatibility |
| Send a prerecorded loop as a live broadcast | A separate live encoder or streaming workflow | Live CBR bitrate, keyframe interval, stream health, and available upload capacity |
The phrase “loop stream” does not identify which repeat or automation method you intend. The settings below cover file preparation and direct live ingest without treating them as interchangeable.
HandBrake settings for an uploaded Kannada video
1. Select a Creator preset that matches the source
In HandBrake, open the source, then choose Presets > Web > Creator and select the closest documented resolution and frame-rate option. Creator 1080p60 and Creator 720p60 are documented examples; these use MP4, H.264 video, and AAC stereo audio. Choose a preset that matches your actual footage rather than selecting a higher resolution to enlarge a low-resolution source. HandBrake’s official preset guide describes the Creator presets for video-hosting uploads.

2. Use constant quality for a normal encode
Unless a specific file-size limit matters, use HandBrake’s constant-quality mode rather than setting a bitrate just to hit an arbitrary number. HandBrake’s current technical guidance gives x264 RF around 20 ±1 for SD and 22 ±1 for HD as general starting points, not guaranteed best values for every source. That guidance page is marked draft. Noise, fine detail, motion, and the source’s existing compression all affect the result, so encode and inspect a short representative section before committing to a long job. See HandBrake’s video quality guide.
3. Preserve the recorded frame rate
Set the frame-rate handling to Same as Source unless a production or compatibility requirement calls for a specific output rate. YouTube’s upload guidance recommends encoding and uploading at the frame rate at which the content was recorded. HandBrake’s Same as Source handling can preserve variable timing; peak frame rate (PFR) caps rates above a selected threshold, while constant frame rate (CFR) converts the whole output to one rate. Do not switch to CFR merely because the video will repeat. HandBrake discusses the trade-offs in its frame-rate guide, and YouTube covers source-rate matching in its upload encoding recommendations.

4. Handle interlacing and SDR color correctly
If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it before uploading. YouTube gives 1080i60 converted to 1080p30 as an example. For standard dynamic range (SDR) uploads, YouTube recommends BT.709. Do not apply these settings blindly to progressive or HDR footage; confirm the source’s scan type and color characteristics first. The relevant recommendations are in YouTube’s upload encoding guidance.
5. Keep the Kannada audio and verify it
There is no special codec or bitrate requirement in the cited official guidance for Kannada. Keep the Kannada audio track you want viewers to hear, and listen to the encoded result for intelligibility and synchronization. YouTube lists AAC-LC, Opus, or Eclipsa Audio and a 48 kHz sample rate for uploads; the HandBrake Creator presets use AAC stereo. If the source has multiple tracks, confirm that the intended Kannada track is selected rather than relying on the first-track default. HandBrake’s audio codec guide explains its audio options.

6. Use upload bitrate guidance only if you need a bitrate encode
If you have a reason to use average bitrate rather than constant quality, YouTube’s SDR upload recommendations list these video bitrates by resolution and frame-rate class:
| Resolution | Standard frame rate | High frame rate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 8 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
| 720p | 5 Mbps | 7.5 Mbps |
These are upload recommendations, not mandatory settings for every creator and not direct-live CBR targets. YouTube’s page notes that the listed features and settings apply to Content Manager partners; treat the figures as guidance rather than a universal requirement. The table is on YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations.

Settings for sending the loop as a YouTube Live stream
For a direct live broadcast, configure the separate streaming encoder for YouTube Live. YouTube currently lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video ingest, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. Choose values that match the stream’s codec, resolution, frame rate, and the upload capacity available to the encoder.
| H.264 live video format | Minimum ingest bitrate | Recommended ingest bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 720p30 or 720p60 | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s H.264 live-ingest figures, not HandBrake upload targets. The full codec and resolution guidance, including RTMPS delivery, is in YouTube’s live encoder settings help page. Do not copy the live bitrate into a constant-quality HandBrake encode: upload files and live ingest use distinct delivery recommendations.

Preflight the stream
- Use a representative segment with the real Kannada audio and typical movement, not a silent or static test image.
- Test the configured stream before relying on a long broadcast, then monitor YouTube’s stream health while live.
- Use RTMPS where supported for secure delivery.
- Confirm that the live encoder’s measured upload capacity can sustain the configured bitrate; bitrate alone does not guarantee a stable broadcast.
Copyright and repeat-play considerations
Encoding settings do not grant permission to broadcast a song, film clip, devotional recording, or other material. Before uploading or looping content, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for the video and every included audio track. A file that plays correctly in HandBrake can still be subject to YouTube copyright enforcement or channel policies. For a practical pre-upload review, use the copyright safety checklist.
Repeated playback also does not change what the video contains or establish that it complies with YouTube’s rules. Review YouTube’s current requirements for your channel and content before setting up an ongoing broadcast; the encoder settings above address technical delivery, not eligibility or monetization.
Common problems and fixes
- The upload looks soft or blocky: Check that you did not upscale a small source, compare a short encode at a lower RF value (higher quality), and inspect difficult scenes with fine detail or motion. Re-encoding cannot restore detail already lost in the original.
- The video stutters or motion looks uneven: Confirm that the output frame-rate handling preserves the source. Avoid imposing CFR unless you need it for a specific workflow, and compare the encode with the original.
- The audio is missing, wrong, or out of sync: Verify the selected track is the intended Kannada track, then preview the beginning and a later section after encoding.
- The live stream buffers or drops frames: Check YouTube stream health and whether the encoder can sustain its bitrate. Reduce the live resolution or frame rate, or use a lower bitrate that remains within YouTube’s guidance for that format and fits the available connection.
- You used a YouTube Live bitrate in HandBrake and got an unexpectedly large file: Live ingest recommendations are CBR targets for a broadcast, not a default file-encode recipe. Use constant quality for a typical upload or a bitrate chosen for the file-size constraint.
