Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

AWS also lists Hyderabad, with an opt-in caveat; Google Cloud lists Delhi as well. Neither region listing proves a particular server will deliver better YouTube ingest or be cheaper. Choose by testing your actual playout workload and comparing the complete monthly bill—not by region name alone.
If you want the channel to keep looping without managing a VM, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it runs prerecorded videos to YouTube from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. It is a service, not an Indian cloud server. The server options and setup considerations below are for creators who specifically want to operate their own cloud VM.
What the server does—and what it does not do
A cloud VM running playout software acts as the encoder or video-playout host. It sends a live ingest stream to YouTube Live; YouTube is where viewers watch. This is different from renting a server to host a video website or deliver video files directly to viewers.
For a prerecorded channel, the VM must keep the selected video or playlist playing, encode or pass through a compatible stream, and send that stream to YouTube. YouTube’s Live Control Room transcodes an incoming stream into multiple output formats. The VM is not responsible for serving those viewer-facing versions.

Indian cloud VM candidates
| Provider | Documented India locations relevant to this choice | What to verify before you commit |
|---|---|---|
| AWS EC2 | Mumbai (ap-south-1) and Hyderabad (ap-south-2). AWS marks Hyderabad as opt-in in its global region table. | Confirm that the instance family and size you need are available in your chosen region, and check whether your account must enable Hyderabad. |
| Google Cloud Compute Engine | Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2). | Check the machine family and zone availability for the configuration you intend to use, then estimate the VM and network charges for your workload. |
| Microsoft Azure | Azure maintains a public-region list; the materials reviewed do not establish current availability of a suitable VM configuration for this workload in a specific Indian region. | Verify the current region, VM family, and availability-zone details in Azure’s live documentation and pricing calculator before treating it as a candidate. |
These are location candidates, not a measured ranking. A region being in India may be convenient for administration or proximity to an operator, but it does not establish YouTube ingest quality. Test the actual stream from the instance and region you plan to use.
How to choose the VM for your stream
Decide whether the file is encoded already
If your workflow can send a compatible pre-encoded file without re-encoding, the VM’s job may be less CPU-intensive than software encoding. If the playout software must encode in real time, CPU needs depend on codec, resolution, frame rate, and the VM’s CPU capability. A hardware-encoding plan requires hardware and software support for the chosen encoder. Do not infer a minimum VM size from the output bitrate alone.
Set the YouTube output before pricing servers
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval that does not exceed four seconds, and AAC or MP3 audio. It lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video support and frame rates up to 60 fps. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, the guidance recommends 10 Mbps. Treat that as an encoder setting for that format, not as a universal VM specification.

Use YouTube’s published bitrate range for your chosen resolution and frame rate, and test a representative section with motion and audio. Confirm stream health in Live Control Room. The correct CPU allocation depends on whether the file is passed through or encoded, and on the codec and frame rate—not just the bitrate sent over the network.
Compare the whole workload, not just the hourly VM rate
- Compute: use the same VM family, size, region, and monthly operating hours in each provider’s calculator.
- Storage: include the disk needed for the recording, playlist, operating system, and any working files.
- Network: estimate outbound traffic using the actual stream bitrate and hours. Check how each provider bills traffic sent to YouTube and whether any relevant allowances apply.
- Billing terms: account for discounts, currency, and applicable taxes. A VM price alone is not a complete monthly total.
- Operations: consider the time required to install and maintain playout software, monitor the process, and recover from failures.
- Resilience: decide whether a restart policy and monitoring are sufficient or whether a second encoder is worth its added cost and complexity.
There is no verified apples-to-apples monthly total for this use case across the providers discussed here. A fair quote requires the same output format and bitrate, hours per month, encoding method, machine size, storage, network treatment, discounts, currency, and tax assumptions.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Choose a region and check capacity. Select an India region, then confirm the intended VM family and size are available in a zone there. For AWS Hyderabad, check the account’s opt-in status as well.
- Size for the encoding method. Decide whether the recording will be sent in a compatible pre-encoded form or encoded in real time. If encoding, choose a VM with adequate CPU capability for the codec, resolution, and frame rate; if using hardware encoding, verify the required accelerator is actually available to the VM.
- Prepare storage and access. Allocate disk for the media and software. Restrict administrative access to the VM, and do not place a YouTube stream key in a public script, image, repository, or log.
- Install and configure playout software. Set it to play the recording or playlist continuously, and confirm its behavior when a file ends. Configure the output to match YouTube’s current requirements: RTMPS, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (never over four seconds), a supported video codec, and AAC or MP3 audio.
- Connect the YouTube stream. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and copy its stream key. Enter the key into the playout software’s stream destination settings, keeping it private. Use the RTMPS ingest option where the encoder offers it.
- Run a representative test. Start the stream with representative motion and audio. Check that YouTube receives it, review stream health, and fix warnings before relying on the channel for continuous operation.
- Make playback recoverable. Configure the playout process to start again after a software or VM restart, and monitor both the process and the YouTube stream. Test recovery deliberately; do not assume the cloud provider will restart your encoder or restore the stream automatically.
- Review the bill and access. After the test, check actual compute, storage, and outbound network usage. Confirm that access to the VM and stream key is limited to people who need it.
Copyright, reused content, and continuous playback
A video being prerecorded does not give you rights to broadcast it. Use material you own or are authorized to stream, including music, artwork, and any third-party footage. YouTube’s copyright systems and channel policies still apply to a live stream; a cloud VM does not change those obligations.
Separately, YouTube monetization eligibility is not guaranteed merely because a channel runs continuously. Reused or repetitive material can raise monetization concerns even when a stream is technically valid. Review YouTube’s current rules for the channel and content, and make sure you have rights for every item in a loop or playlist.
When managed streaming services fit
Managed media services can handle parts of encoding, packaging, or delivery, but that does not automatically make them a turnkey prerecorded-to-YouTube playout service. AWS’s Live Streaming on AWS architecture uses MediaLive for encoding, MediaPackage for packaging, and CloudFront for delivery to viewers. Its example cost is scenario-specific and includes viewer distribution, so it is not a quote for one encoder VM sending a stream to YouTube.

Google Cloud’s Live Stream API documents availability in Mumbai and describes usage-based pricing that varies with channel activity and input/output resolution. It is a managed encoding service; the available service description does not establish it as a turnkey prerecorded playout product or as the lowest-cost option for an individual YouTube channel. Compare a managed pipeline only after confirming that it supports your exact prerecorded playout and YouTube output workflow.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the stream | Incorrect or stale stream key, wrong ingest destination, or encoder not running. | Verify the selected stream and key in Live Control Room, check the RTMPS destination configured in the encoder, and inspect the playout process logs without exposing the key. |
| Stream health warns about bitrate or stability | Output settings do not match the selected resolution and frame rate, or the VM/network path cannot sustain the configured output. | Check YouTube’s current bitrate guidance for the exact format, configure CBR, and test again while monitoring stream health. |
| Video stutters or encoding falls behind | Real-time software encoding may exceed the VM’s CPU capability, or the source/playout chain may be overloaded. | Check CPU and encoder load during representative playback; reduce encoding demand or select a suitable VM configuration. Do not assume increasing network bandwidth fixes a CPU bottleneck. |
| Audio is missing or incompatible | Unsupported or incorrectly configured audio output. | Check the encoder’s audio track and use AAC or MP3 as recommended in YouTube’s guidance; test the actual file’s audio before leaving the stream unattended. |
| The stream stops when the video ends or after a restart | Playout is configured for a single pass, or the process does not launch again after a failure or VM restart. | Configure continuous looping or playlist scheduling and a restart mechanism, then test both end-of-file behavior and recovery from a restart. |
| The bill is higher than the VM estimate | Storage, outbound transfer, longer operating time, or other selected services were not included in the initial estimate. | Review the provider’s usage breakdown and recalculate with actual hours, bitrate, storage, network billing, discounts, and taxes. |
