Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Short answer: there is no independently verified “best” Indian VPS for backing up a Raspberry Pi/FFmpeg YouTube stream. Choose by monthly transfer allowance and what happens when it runs out, sustained outbound capacity, and whether the CPU and memory suit your FFmpeg workload—not by a “1 Gbps” label or Mumbai location alone. The provider plans below are candidates based on published specifications, not benchmark results.
For an always-on backup to work, the VPS must have an independent way to access the video if the Pi or its connection fails. A VPS that only relays the Pi’s output is not an effective backup for a Pi outage.
First check whether the VPS can carry a continuous stream
YouTube’s published encoder settings are a useful starting point for estimating egress, not a measurement of what any particular VPS can sustain. For H.264, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p30. The 720p figure is higher than the 1080p figure, so use the recommendation for the resolution and frame rate you actually select rather than assuming lower resolution always means lower bitrate.
At a constant video-plus-audio bitrate, decimal data use is approximately bitrate in Mbps × 10.8 GB per day. That works out to about 54 GB/day, or 1.62 TB over 30 days, at 5 Mbps; and 86.4 GB/day, or 2.592 TB over 30 days, at 8 Mbps. Actual transfer can differ with audio bitrate, stream settings, protocol overhead, uptime, and the provider’s accounting rules. Allow headroom and confirm whether both inbound and outbound traffic count.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- A port advertised as 1 Gbps describes a port ceiling, not necessarily a guaranteed sustained rate or an unlimited monthly allowance.
- Read the monthly cap and the post-cap policy. A stream that fits the port speed can still be disrupted when traffic is shaped or stopped after the allowance is exhausted.
- Ask whether the quoted network speed is a maximum or a committed rate, and whether the provider can sustain the required egress to YouTube’s ingest route.
- Ask about route stability and resource contention; a nearby data-centre location by itself does not establish stream performance.
Indian VPS plans to shortlist
These are provider-published examples, not endorsements or a performance ranking. Specifications, availability, taxes, and prices can change; verify the plan and its traffic policy at checkout. Only VPSWala’s page in the available plan information specified a review date: 21 August 2026.
| Provider | Published plan details | What to verify for a continuous backup stream |
|---|---|---|
| KryoHost | Mumbai location; KVM and root access. Listed tiers begin at $14.99/month for 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 25 GB NVMe, and 1 TB transfer. Higher tiers increase resources and transfer; some plans offer optional automated backups. | The entry allowance is below the estimated 30-day transfer for either YouTube H.264 example above. Confirm the allowance and backup option on the exact tier; backups of VPS storage are not the same as a working encoder failover. |
| VPSWala | KVM cloud plans list Indian nodes in Mumbai, Noida, and Jaipur. The 2 GB entry plan is ₹298/month with 1 vCPU, 20 GB RAID NVMe, and 100 GB transfer; the 4 GB plan is ₹596/month with 2 vCPU, 40 GB, and 200 GB transfer. The catalogue and pricing page says it was reviewed 21 August 2026. | The listed transfer on these examples is far below a month of uninterrupted streaming at the cited H.264 bitrates. Check current node stock, taxes, routing, and a larger plan’s allowance before choosing. |
| Endercloud | The Mumbai listing begins with an 8 GB plan at ₹999/month: 3 vCore, 50 GB NVMe, 2 TB bandwidth, and 1 Gbps. | The listed allowance is near the estimated 30-day use at 5 Mbps and below the estimate at 8 Mbps, before headroom or any additional traffic. The provider describes itself as game-hosting-focused; verify suitability, traffic terms, and availability. |
| Melbicom | Its Mumbai traffic policy lists 2 TB/month for KVM-1 and 4 TB/month for KVM-2. After the included allowance, speed is limited to 10 Mbps, with no overage fees. | The 2 TB allowance is close to the 5 Mbps estimate and below the 8 Mbps estimate for 30 days. The 10 Mbps post-cap limit may leave little room for a higher-bitrate stream; confirm which policy applies to the selected plan. |
| Botnix | Mumbai KVM plans list 1 Gbps networking and root access, including ₹400/month for 4 GB RAM and ₹800/month for 8 GB RAM. | The captured plan table does not state the monthly transfer allowance. Ask the provider for the cap and post-cap treatment before considering it for always-on egress. |
| EriHost | Mumbai VPS examples list CPU, RAM, NVMe, port speed, and transfer. The Lite plan lists 100 Mbps and 300 GB traffic. | The Lite allowance is below a month at either example bitrate. Verify transfer, port ceilings, and the current terms for any larger plan. |
Choose the right VPS for the FFmpeg job
Decide whether FFmpeg relays or transcodes
A relay or remux workload passes an existing encoded stream onward without decoding and re-encoding its video. A transcode decodes and encodes video again and can require materially more CPU and memory. Do not size the VPS from the Pi’s specifications alone: first establish what the VPS will actually do. The plan data above does not establish which provider can handle a particular FFmpeg workload.

Make sure the backup has an independent source
If the VPS must take over when the Raspberry Pi fails, it needs access to the video independently—for example, an appropriately stored source file or playlist. If its only input is a feed sent from the Pi, a Pi failure also removes the VPS’s input. Confirm that the VPS can reach its source and YouTube ingest at the intended bitrate before relying on it.
Budget traffic for operating time, not just bitrate
Multiply the actual combined audio-and-video bitrate by expected streaming hours, then compare the result with the provider’s monthly allowance. Include reasonable headroom for bitrate variation and confirm how the provider counts transfer. A low monthly cap can make an otherwise capable CPU, RAM allocation, or port speed irrelevant for an always-on stream.

Configure and test encoder failover
- Set up the YouTube live event and primary encoder. In YouTube Live Control Room, prepare the event and use its stream configuration for the Pi’s FFmpeg encoder. Keep the stream key private; treat it like a password, and rotate it if exposed.
- Prepare an independent backup encoder on the VPS. Configure FFmpeg with the same intended video and audio characteristics and the event’s appropriate YouTube ingest settings. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS and recommends RTMPS. Do not assume a second server is a backup until it can access the source independently of the Pi.
- Match YouTube’s encoder recommendations. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not exceeding four seconds), frame rates up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its H.264 recommendations include 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p30. These are ingest recommendations, not guarantees of VPS capacity.
- Preview and inspect the stream. Before relying on the event, preview it and check video and audio quality. Confirm the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate are the ones the encoders are actually sending.
- Test real failover. YouTube’s “YouTube live streaming tips” says: “For test encoder failover, stop the primary encoder or unplug its Ethernet cable. Make sure the player rolls over to the backup encoder.” Test with the Pi stopped, then verify the viewer’s playback rolls over. A backup process that is merely configured or running is not proof that viewers receive it.
- Monitor the backup after testing. Check that its source remains available, its FFmpeg process is healthy, and the VPS has transfer headroom. Repeat the failover test after changing the stream configuration, source, or provider plan.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is the #1 alternative if your aim is to keep uploaded video live on YouTube without maintaining an FFmpeg host: upload a recording or playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live.
StreamNeo is not a VPS or a camera encoder; it loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud. Nothing has to stay on at home, and each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
