That role is consistent with the developers’ historical balance explanation. In the Season 03 patch notes, Call of Duty said the Jackal was intended to have “best-in-class handling and excellent mobility,” but had become too versatile. The notes describe increased recoil, a slight range reduction, reduced effectiveness for horizontal-recoil foregrips, changes to distant headshot damage, and adjustments to slide- and dive-to-fire timing. The stated goal was “not to kill the Jackal PDW,” but to emphasize playing to its strengths. Those are 2025 changes, not confirmation of its October 2026 tuning.

Choose by mode and engagement range. The following are dated third-party recommendations, not independently tested results or official current-meta builds.

How to choose between the dated builds
- For the listed Multiplayer baseline, start with the five-attachment CODMunity setup.
- For the listed Warzone close-range setup, use its separate five-attachment list; do not merge it with the Multiplayer build and call the result universal.
- Before using either competitively, inspect the current Gunsmith stats and recent patch notes. The cited recommendations date to 2025, and the sources here do not establish live October 2026 tuning.
How to unlock the Jackal PDW
Call of Duty’s launch weapons article lists the Jackal PDW at Player Level 43. That is the documented standard launch progression route, not a guarantee that every mode or current progression state still uses the same requirement. Check the in-game unlock screen if the weapon is still locked. The article also explains that players earn XP in matches to reach weapon unlock levels; one weapon in each class is immediately available in default loadouts, while other weapons require progression.
What happens to the weapon after Prestige?
Activision’s Prestige support page says entering Prestige resets Player Level and relocks level-unlocked items, with exceptions for permanently unlocked items. Weapon progression and saved weapon builds remain, but builds for a weapon wait until you reach the level required to unlock that weapon again. An item for which you own a Blueprint or Skin remains permanently unlocked.
