For remote teams producing guest-led shows, webinars, and events, there is no single best streaming platform for every workflow. StreamYard and Riverside are worth comparing for browser-oriented guest and recording workflows; Zoom Events or Zoom Webinars Plus may fit teams that already run events in Zoom. Microsoft Teams Live Events should not be treated as a current default: Microsoft’s stated retirement date, June 30, 2026, has passed.
Choose based on how guests join, how much production control you need, how attendees participate, where the stream goes, and what you need to record and reuse. The options below are based on vendor product pages and support documentation, not hands-on testing or independent benchmarks.
How to choose live streaming software for a remote team
Start with the event you need to run, not a feature checklist in isolation. A public guest interview, a registered webinar, and an internal company event can have very different needs.
- Guest access: Can remote speakers join without a complicated setup? Check whether guests need to install software or configure their own equipment.
- Producer control: Consider scene and layout changes, branding, screen sharing, and media playback. More control can mean more work for the operator.
- Audience workflow: Check whether you need registration, attendee access controls, chat, or Q&A, and whether the event is internal, public, or ticketed.
- Distribution: Confirm which destinations are supported and whether the platform can multistream. Some workflows require an encoder and a separate streaming destination.
- Recording and reuse: Find out what gets recorded, whether separate tracks or editing workflows are available, and how the team will turn the session into clips or other content.
- Team fit: Check account requirements, integrations, IT policies, and eligibility for the specific plan or product tier you intend to use.
Live streaming software options for remote teams
| Option | What its documented workflow emphasizes | Best fit to consider | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamYard | Browser-based studio, remote guests, multistreaming, local recordings, and an On-Air webinar platform. | Teams prioritizing a browser-oriented production flow for guest-led broadcasts or webinars. | These are vendor-described capabilities. Confirm current destinations and plan limits. |
| Riverside | Remote guest speakers, multistreaming, and webinar recording workflows. | Teams that place particular weight on recording sessions for post-event reuse. | Product details and the related platform guide are vendor-authored. Verify current plan limits. |
| Zoom Events / Zoom Webinars Plus | Incoming RTMP livestreaming to a Zoom Event, with OBS and vMix given as examples of third-party production tools. | Organizations already using Zoom that need an event or webinar workflow and can meet its product requirements. | Zoom’s documented RTMP flow is currently supported only on Zoom Events and Zoom Webinars Plus; it should not be assumed to work the same way on all Zoom plans or meetings. |
| Microsoft Teams Live Events | Microsoft Support states that the Teams live event experience is retiring on June 30, 2026. | Do not select it as an active default based on older recommendations. | The retirement date has passed. The cited notice does not establish all replacement or migration details; consult Microsoft’s current guidance before choosing a successor. |
Which workflow fits your event?
Guest-led broadcasts
If outside speakers need to join and participate with minimal setup, compare the browser-oriented guest workflows described by StreamYard and Riverside. Then check the practical details that affect your show: who controls layouts, how screen sharing works, what branding is available, which destinations are supported, and what recording files the team receives. These capabilities are described by the vendors and have not been independently tested here.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Webinars with registration and audience interaction
For a webinar, guest entry is only one part of the decision. Confirm how registration and attendee access work, which engagement features are available, and how the session is recorded. Riverside’s webinar materials describe hosting, engagement, and recording for reuse; StreamYard describes its On-Air webinar platform. Check both vendors’ current plan details against your event requirements rather than assuming every feature is included at every tier.
Events already centered on Zoom
Zoom’s documented RTMP setup is specifically for Zoom Events and Zoom Webinars Plus. It may be relevant if your organization already uses those products and wants a third-party production tool such as OBS or vMix to send an incoming stream. First confirm that your account has the eligible product and that the event is configured for that workflow; ordinary Zoom meetings and other plans should not be presumed to have the same capability.

Internal events in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Support’s Teams Live Events guidance says the experience is retiring on June 30, 2026. Because that date is past, teams planning a new event should check Microsoft’s current documentation for available products and migration guidance rather than build a plan around legacy Live Events instructions.
Questions to settle before committing
- Write down the event format. Specify whether it is an interview, public broadcast, registered webinar, or internal event, and list the audience actions you need.
- Map the speaker workflow. Identify who will host, how guests will join, what they need to share, and how much technical support they can rely on.
- Confirm distribution and production. Check the exact destinations, multistreaming requirements, and whether an encoder or another product tier is needed.
- Plan recording and reuse. Decide who needs the recording, what format or tracks are required, and how follow-up clips or edits will be made.
- Verify eligibility and terms. Review current product, plan, account, and IT requirements directly with the vendor. The cited materials do not establish current prices or complete plan limits.
- Run a representative rehearsal. Before a high-stakes event, test the actual guest, producer, attendee, and recording workflows with the intended accounts and equipment.
A separate option for prerecorded, always-on YouTube channels
If your team’s goal is not a live guest event but keeping a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a different kind of tool: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so a computer does not need to stay on. It streams to YouTube only, not from a live camera. Each slot supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; the first day is free with no card. Start a free StreamNeo day.
