Ninja is the best location by published Broken Sword drop chance per kill: the Sailor Piece Wiki lists a 1.1% rate, compared with 1.05% for Swordsman and 0.95% for Slime Warrior. That does not prove Ninja is the fastest farm per minute; kill speed, travel time and respawns have not been compared.
Best Broken Sword farming locations by drop chance
These community-wiki figures rank the listed NPCs by published chance for a Broken Sword on each defeat. The rates are not independently verified game telemetry, and the pages do not state a year for the figures.
| NPC | Published drop chance per kill |
|---|---|
| Ninja | 1.1% — Sailor Piece Wiki Materials Overview and drop chart |
| Swordsman | 1.05% — Sailor Piece Wiki drop chart |
| Slime Warrior | 0.95% — Sailor Piece Wiki drop chart |
| Sorcerer Student | 0.65% — Sailor Piece Wiki drop chart |
| Frost Rogue | 0.45% — Sailor Piece Wiki drop chart |
| Desert Bandit | 0.335% — Sailor Piece Wiki drop chart |
On the available rates alone, prioritize Ninja if you can defeat it efficiently. Swordsman is close behind, so it may be a practical alternative if it is quicker or easier for your character to reach and defeat. Slime Warrior is another option when its route fits your setup better.
How to choose the quickest route for your character
A higher chance per kill does not necessarily mean more Broken Swords per minute. Your result depends on how quickly you can defeat an NPC, how long it takes to reach the spawn, and how consistently enemies respawn. The cited sources provide drop chances, not comparable kill speeds or tested farming loops.

- Check current in-game drop information when available. Community-wiki rates and game mechanics may change.
What Broken Sword is used for
Broken Sword is a progression material tied to the Divine Grail route, the Babylon Key route and broader sword progression, according to the Sailor Piece Wiki Materials Overview. That overview lists sword-wielding enemies as sources, including Desert Bandit, Frost Rogue, Sorcerer Student, Slime Warrior, Swordsman and Ninja, as well as related sword-route bosses.
A community-edited Fandom item page says the Divine Grail Crafter uses three Broken Swords. Treat that exact quantity as lower-confidence recipe information: the Sailor Piece Wiki confirms the broader Divine Grail connection but not the three-sword amount. An anonymous Reddit commenter also offered the informal rule, “You can get broken swords from any mob that has a sword”; that is player advice, not official confirmation.
