Best Marvel Rivals Settings for Higher FPS and Clearer Visibility

Start with lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing; then test resolution, VSync, and supported upscaling in demanding matches to find a clear, responsive setup for your PC.

For a practical starting point in Marvel Rivals on PC, keep your display at its native resolution, turn VSync off if responsiveness is the priority, and lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing first. These are guide-recommended adjustments, not a universal benchmark: the best balance depends on your hardware, resolution, patch, and tolerance for tearing or visual changes. Measure the result in a demanding match, not just in a quiet menu.

Start with a balanced PC baseline

Use this as a sequence rather than a fixed preset. Change one setting at a time, then check both frame rate and what you can see during combat.

  1. Check your display. In Windows and the game, confirm the display is using its native resolution and intended refresh rate. Turn on the in-game FPS counter or use a trusted performance overlay so you can compare changes.
  2. Reduce visual-cost settings first. Lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing. These are commonly recommended performance and visual-clutter adjustments, but their gains vary by system.
  3. Keep textures as high as your system can handle reliably. There is no evidence-based texture tier that fits every graphics card. If video memory is tight or frame times become uneven, try reducing textures and compare again.
  4. Keep VSync off as a responsiveness starting point. If screen tearing bothers you, test VSync on or try a frame cap if the game offers one. Compare in a fight: the smoother-looking option may not feel as responsive on your system.
  5. Test in a demanding match. Note average FPS and dips, then keep the clearest configuration that meets your target. Repeat after major patches, which can change the look of effects and how settings behave.

Choose between more FPS and a sharper image

Lower graphics settings can improve performance, while higher image quality and resolution can cost frames. The size of that trade-off depends on the PC, so treat published benchmark numbers as examples from specific test systems—not expected results for your own machine.

Setting choice Likely trade-off How to decide
Lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing Often recommended to recover performance and reduce visual clutter; the actual gain varies. Start here, then check whether opponents and important combat cues remain easy to read.
Lower resolution or use an upscaler Can improve performance, but may make fine detail less clear, especially in motion. First try native resolution. If you miss your target, test DLSS, FSR, or another option only if it is offered for your hardware; inspect moving effects, distant targets, and fine edges.
Raise visual quality Can improve presentation but may lower frame rate. PCGamesN’s 2025 test system recorded progressively lower averages as it moved from Medium to High to Ultra. Use higher settings only if your own match results remain within your frame-rate and smoothness goals.
Enable VSync or use a frame cap May help with tearing or uneven frame pacing for some players, but can change responsiveness. Compare against VSync off in the same type of fight and choose by feel as well as the counter.

What published benchmarks do—and do not—tell you

In its 2025 guide, PCGamesN reported an average of 141.9 FPS and a 1% low of 84.3 FPS at 1080p using its own settings and test hardware. On that same test system it reported averages of 110 FPS at Medium, 100 FPS at High, and 85 FPS at Ultra. With its low-oriented settings, it reported 114.9 FPS average and a 50.7 FPS 1% low at 1440p, and 83 FPS average with a 22.5 FPS 1% low at 4K. These results illustrate how resolution, settings, and demanding moments can affect performance; they are not guarantees or population averages.

Should you use DLSS, FSR, or frame generation?

Upscaling and frame-generation options are hardware- and game-support dependent. Use an option only when it appears for your system, and compare image clarity and responsiveness in motion rather than judging a still image.

Upscaling

If native resolution does not meet your frame-rate target, test DLSS, FSR, or another supported upscaler. Try its available quality/performance modes and look closely at distant opponents, fine edges, and moving effects. Keep the mode that improves performance without making those cues too difficult to read.

Frame generation and latency features

Marvel Rivals’ official patch notes dated February 21, 2025, said: “NVIDIA DLSS 4 is available now, featuring DLSS Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU.” The same notes say AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 is supported on Radeon RX 5000 series or newer, and that FSR3 frame pacing was fixed. These are dated feature notes, not a complete guarantee of what is available after later updates. Check the current game options and patch notes.

Frame generation is optional, particularly for competitive play. It can increase displayed or generated frame counts on supported hardware, but judge its responsiveness and any visual artifacts in actual play. NVIDIA promotes Multi Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, and Reflex for Marvel Rivals; its feature page claims “up to 5X” frame rates and “up to 55%” lower PC latency. Those are vendor claims, not independent results or promises for every configuration. A 2026 Overgear guide recommends leaving frame generation off for competitive play, underscoring that the choice is a trade-off rather than a universal rule.

Make opponents and combat easier to read

Lowering effects and post-processing is a sensible first experiment if battles feel visually crowded, but do not assume that every reduction improves visibility: an effect setting can also change how combat cues appear. Test changes in the same kind of high-action encounter and keep the configuration that lets you follow opponents and abilities while meeting your performance goal.

Clarity also depends on the game’s current presentation, not just your settings. PC Gamer reported on July 16, 2026, that NetEase made visual-effects changes intended to reduce battlefield chaos. A patch may therefore change what a setting looks like or how useful a previous adjustment feels.

Set a realistic target for your PC and monitor

Steam lists the following PC graphics hardware in Marvel Rivals’ system requirements. Both minimum and recommended tiers list 16 GB RAM and DirectX 12; Steam recommends installation on an SSD. Requirements describe listed hardware tiers, not a promised frame rate.

Steam PC tier Listed graphics hardware Other listed details
Minimum NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, AMD RX 580, or Intel Arc A380 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12
Recommended NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD RX 5700 XT, or Intel Arc A750 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12

A high-refresh-rate monitor can show more frames only when the PC renders them; it does not create additional game-rendered FPS. NVIDIA references 120 Hz, 144 Hz, and 240 Hz display targets. If you are considering a higher-refresh display, first check whether your PC can consistently render near the rate you want, especially during busy fights.

When the issue is crashing, not low FPS

Performance tuning will not necessarily fix crashes. In a notice dated June 24, 2025, NetEase said: “We strongly recommend all players using NVIDIA graphics cards update to version 576.80 or later to improve game stability.” The notice also described crashes for RTX 40/50 users when Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling was disabled under driver 572.40 onward. This is historical, date-specific guidance—not the newest driver recommendation for October 2026. For a current crash, check NetEase’s latest notices and NVIDIA’s current driver advice before changing driver or scheduling settings.
