For most PC creators, OBS Studio is the best starting point if you want a flexible, free encoder; pair it with a relay such as Restream when you need to send one PC feed to multiple platforms. Streamlabs is worth considering if you want its cloud multistream workflow or a built-in horizontal-and-vertical output. These tools do different jobs: an encoder creates the stream, while a relay distributes it. Choose based on destination limits, account compatibility, and whether you want the PC to upload one feed or several.

Best multistreaming software for PC at a glance

Option Best fit What it does Important limit or caveat
OBS Studio + Restream Creators who want OBS’s configurable desktop workflow and a cloud relay OBS encodes the video; Restream receives that feed and distributes it to destinations. Restream’s documented free plan includes two channels and accepts third-party software such as OBS. Restream says three or more channels, Facebook Pages or Groups, and custom RTMP destinations require a paid plan. The free plan includes Restream branding. Restream plan details.
Streamlabs Multistream Creators who want cloud forwarding through Streamlabs Desktop, an OBS plugin, or dashboard RTMP credentials Streamlabs says its cloud service takes one feed from the PC and forwards it to multiple platforms. Free Dual Output supports one horizontal and one vertical destination. Broader Multistream is an Ultra feature. Feature availability and supported account types vary by destination. Streamlabs Multistream.
OBS Studio alone Creators who want a free, open-source encoder and do not need a relay’s multi-destination workflow OBS is the desktop encoding and production software; it is not, by itself, the cloud relay described by Restream’s multistream setup. To send separate outputs directly, the PC and connection must handle the additional encoding and upload work. Restream’s OBS guide.
XSplit or vMix connected to a relay Creators already using either encoder who need a separate distribution service Restream lists both as streaming software options that can connect to its service. The available sources do not establish a head-to-head multistream feature or price comparison for XSplit and vMix.

Feature and plan information above comes from vendor documentation, not independent performance testing. The Restream help page is dated February 9, 2026; check linked plan pages for current terms before subscribing.

How multistreaming works on a PC

Encoder: creates the live video feed

Software such as OBS Studio captures a game, desktop, camera, microphone, and other sources, then encodes them into a live stream. Restream lists OBS as a supported third-party encoder and describes it as free, open source, and available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. See Restream’s OBS guide.

Cloud relay: distributes one upload

With a cloud relay, your PC sends one stream to the provider, which forwards it to the selected destinations. Streamlabs describes its service this way. That can avoid making your computer encode and upload a separate output for each destination, but this is a vendor description, not an independent benchmark. Streamlabs explains its cloud multistream workflow.

Direct multi-output: sends separate feeds from your PC

A local multi-output setup sends a separate output to each platform. It can give you direct control over outputs, but adds work for the PC and network compared with sending one feed to a relay. Before choosing it, confirm your software supports the output arrangement you need and that your PC and connection can sustain it.

Which option should you choose?

  • Choose OBS with Restream if you already use OBS, want a configurable desktop encoder, and two free destinations meet your needs. Check Restream’s paid requirements if you need more destinations, Facebook Pages or Groups, or custom RTMP.
  • Choose Streamlabs Multistream if you want its cloud forwarding and workflow through Streamlabs Desktop, its OBS plugin, or dashboard RTMP credentials. Its free Dual Output is specifically for one horizontal and one vertical destination; broader Multistream requires Ultra.
  • Use OBS without a relay if you do not need cloud distribution and are comfortable arranging and supporting any additional outputs locally.
  • Keep XSplit or vMix in the running if one is already part of your production setup. The cited documentation establishes them as encoder choices for Restream, but does not support ranking them against OBS for multistreaming.

Before committing, compare the destinations you need, their account-type restrictions, the number of channels included, branding or watermark behavior, resolution limits, and any studio or guest features that matter to your workflow. Plan terms and supported destinations can change.

Restream

Restream’s help page, dated February 9, 2026, says its free plan includes two channels, third-party software such as OBS, multi-chat, analytics, and events, with Restream branding. It says paid plans are required for three or more channels, Facebook Pages or Groups, and custom RTMP destinations; paid tiers remove the watermark and unlock Studio Full HD. Confirm the current plan details on Restream’s plan page. Its FAQ states: “Yes, you can choose 2 from 30+ social channels to multistream for free.” That describes Restream’s own offer; it is not a guarantee that every account type or destination combination is available to every user. Streamlabs

Streamlabs lists Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon, X, and custom RTMP as destinations. Availability and account requirements can vary by feature and destination. Its product page says free Dual Output handles one horizontal and one vertical destination, while expanded Multistream is part of Ultra. Setup checklist before going live

  1. List your destinations. Write down each platform and the specific account type you plan to use, such as a profile, Page, or Group. Check that the service supports that combination and that your account is eligible.
  2. Decide where distribution happens. Select a cloud relay if you want your PC to send one feed for forwarding, or confirm that your local software supports the separate outputs you intend to run.
  3. Connect the encoder. In OBS or another supported encoder, use the service’s connection instructions and credentials. Treat stream keys as passwords: do not publish or share them, and reset a key through the platform if it is exposed.
  4. Review plan restrictions. Verify channel count, destination types, branding, resolution or studio limits, and whether the feature is free or paid on the plan you will use.
  5. Run a private or unlisted test where the platform allows it. Check picture, sound, aspect ratio, overlays, and destination status before a public broadcast. Confirm that each destination is receiving the intended output.
  6. Check rights and platform policies. Multistreaming does not grant rights to game footage, music, or other material. Use content you have permission to broadcast, and review each destination’s current copyright, live-stream, and monetization rules.

Common problems and practical fixes

A destination will not connect

Check that the platform and account type are supported for your selected feature and plan. Re-authorize the destination if its connection has expired. For custom RTMP, confirm that your plan includes it and that the server address and stream key match the destination’s current instructions.

The free plan does not cover the destinations you need

Count channels and distinguish ordinary channels from Facebook Pages or Groups and custom RTMP destinations. Restream identifies those latter needs, and three or more channels, as paid-plan requirements. Streamlabs reserves broader Multistream for Ultra; free Dual Output covers one horizontal and one vertical destination.

The PC or upload connection struggles

If you are sending multiple outputs locally, reduce the number of simultaneous outputs or use a cloud relay that receives one feed. Also check the encoder’s workload and your upload stability. Cloud forwarding reduces repeated uploads from the PC according to Streamlabs, but it cannot fix an unstable source feed or guarantee a particular performance result.

The stream appears on one destination but not another

Check each destination’s connection status and account permissions in the service dashboard. Confirm that the selected output format is compatible with each destination, then test again before relying on the setup for an important broadcast.

A broadcast is blocked or loses monetization

Review the platform’s copyright and content rules for the exact material involved. A game’s availability to stream does not automatically clear its soundtrack, licensed music, or other third-party content. Remove or replace material you cannot use and consult the destination’s notice or appeal process when applicable.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube channel live around the clock rather than broadcast a live PC session to several platforms, StreamNeo is a different kind of service: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your upload at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
