Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For a 24/7 YouTube cartoon loop sourced at 30 fps or less, start with 1920×1080 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 10 Mbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC at 128 Kbps. Use RTMPS when available and set SDR color to Rec. 709. These are YouTube’s general live-encoder recommendations for those specifications—not settings tested specifically on cartoon footage. [YouTube live encoder settings]
Recommended OBS profile for a 1080p30 cartoon loop
| Setting | Starting value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | 1920×1080 | Matches the target 1080p stream. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps, or the source rate when practical | Suitable starting point for a cartoon source at 30 fps or slower. OBS cautions that 60 fps can use more system resources. |
| Video codec | H.264 | A straightforward compatibility baseline for RTMP/RTMPS. YouTube also lists H.265 (HEVC) and AV1, but use them only when the encoder and workflow support them. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live ingest. |
| Video bitrate | 10 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended H.264 rate for 1080p30; its listed minimum is 5 Mbps. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps | YouTube’s live-encoder guidance specifies 128 Kbps for stereo. |
| Connection | RTMPS when offered | YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709, 8-bit | Use this for a standard dynamic range workflow; configure HDR only when the source, encoder, and workflow are deliberately set up for it. |
YouTube also lists progressive scan, two B-frames, and one reference frame in its advanced guidance. Where OBS exposes these controls for your encoder, use the platform guidance as a starting point. YouTube’s codec, bitrate, and keyframe specifications are organized by resolution, frame rate, and codec, not by content genre. [YouTube live encoder settings] [OBS Studio overview]
Set the profile in OBS
- Set resolution and frame rate. Open Settings → Video. Set the output (scaled) resolution to 1920×1080 and the common FPS value to 30. If the cartoon source is a different frame rate, match it when practical to avoid unnecessary conversion. Do not choose 60 fps just because it is available; OBS notes that it can tax the system more than 30 fps. [OBS Studio overview]
- Configure the video encoder. Open Settings → Output and select Advanced output mode if needed to reveal encoder controls. Choose H.264 and set rate control to CBR, bitrate to 10,000 Kbps (10 Mbps), and keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Control names can vary by encoder. Confirm the settings in YouTube’s current live encoder guidance if labels or available options differ. [YouTube live encoder settings]
- Choose an encoder your computer can sustain. If the system has a supported, stable hardware encoder, it can shift encoding work from the CPU to dedicated hardware; OBS generally recommends hardware encoding for performance. This is not a reason to buy a particular GPU. If you use a hardware encoder, verify that it offers the required codec and controls. [OBS encoder overload guidance] [OBS Studio overview]
- Set audio. In Settings → Output → Audio, choose AAC and stereo at 128 Kbps for the stream if these controls are available. YouTube’s live-specific recommendation is 128 Kbps for stereo; OBS’s general overview mentions a different general audio figure, so follow YouTube for this stream profile. [YouTube live encoder settings] [OBS Studio overview]
- Set standard color. In the video or advanced color settings available for your OBS version and encoder, set SDR color space to Rec. 709 and 8-bit. Avoid HDR unless the cartoon source, encoder, and entire workflow are configured for it. YouTube’s current guidance identifies H.265 for HDR and says AV1 is not supported for HDR. [YouTube live encoder settings]
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live and use Live Control Room to create or select the broadcast and retrieve its stream key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the key as appropriate. Treat the key as a password: do not show or share it, and reset it in YouTube Studio if exposed. Interface labels may vary as YouTube updates Studio.
- Check upload capacity before going live. YouTube requires enough sustained outbound bandwidth for the selected stream bitrate. OBS troubleshooting suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting heuristic when selecting bitrate; it is not a guarantee and a single speed-test peak does not establish continuous stability. If connection problems persist, lower bitrate and retest. A wired connection can remove some Wi-Fi variability, but neither a cable nor a speed-test result guarantees capacity or uptime. [YouTube live encoder settings] [OBS dropped frames and connection issues]
When to use 1080p60 instead
Use 60 fps when the cartoon source is genuinely 60 fps and smoother motion matters. YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate for 1080p60 is 17 Mbps, with a listed minimum of 6 Mbps; the 1080p30 recommendation is 10 Mbps, with a 5 Mbps minimum. These are platform rates, not cartoon-specific measurements. Before committing to 60 fps, verify both encoder capacity and sustained upload bandwidth. [YouTube live encoder settings] [OBS Studio overview]
| Profile | When it fits | YouTube H.264 guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | Cartoon source is 30 fps or slower | 10 Mbps recommended; 5 Mbps minimum; 2-second keyframes. |
| 1080p60 | Source is 60 fps and preserving smoother motion is worthwhile | 17 Mbps recommended; 6 Mbps minimum; ensure the system and connection sustain the higher load. |

Test the loop and protect the broadcast
Before launch
- Run a test using the actual cartoon video and audio, or material with similar motion and sound. Confirm the OBS preview is correct and the YouTube Live Control Room preview receives the feed.
- Inspect YouTube’s stream-health messages and watch for dropped frames, encoding overload, audio problems, or a mismatch between the intended and received picture.
- If you need an archive, enable local recording and check that the recording file is growing. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. [YouTube live streaming tips]
During the stream
- Monitor OBS statistics and YouTube stream health, especially after the stream starts and after any network or encoder change.
- Check that the loop returns to its beginning cleanly and that audio does not drift, stop, or become unexpectedly silent.
- For a high-availability setup, YouTube’s operational tips include testing failover: stop the primary encoder or disconnect its Ethernet cable and verify that the player switches to a backup encoder. This is an advanced option, not a requirement for ordinary creators. [YouTube live streaming tips]
Plan for YouTube’s archive limit and live-stream rules
A continuous 24-hour stream has an archive risk. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the broadcast matters, keep your own local recording and consider ending and restarting in sessions shorter than 12 hours; neither approach should be treated as a substitute for verifying that the recording exists. [YouTube live stream archiving]
Only stream cartoons and audio you have the right to use. A live broadcast can be subject to YouTube’s copyright systems and policies even when the video is a loop or the channel runs continuously. Separately, eligibility for monetization depends on YouTube’s channel monetization policies; repetitive or reused material may be assessed under those rules. A technically correct OBS profile does not grant rights or ensure monetization. Review YouTube’s current rules for the specific material and use case before broadcasting.

Troubleshoot the common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Dropped frames or unstable stream health | Insufficient or inconsistent outbound capacity, congestion, or an overly high bitrate. | Check sustained upload performance, reduce bitrate, and retest. OBS’s 75% upload-speed suggestion is only a starting heuristic, not a guarantee. [OBS dropped frames and connection issues] |
| Encoding overload or choppy output | The computer cannot encode the chosen resolution and frame rate reliably. | Check OBS statistics; reduce frame rate or output load if needed, and consider a stable supported hardware encoder to reduce CPU work. [OBS encoder overload guidance] |
| YouTube preview is black or absent | Incorrect service, stream key, broadcast setup, or an OBS scene with no visible source. | Confirm the selected YouTube broadcast and key in Live Control Room, check that the intended scene and media source are active in OBS, then reconnect and inspect the preview. |
| Stream stops when the cartoon file ends | The media source is not configured to loop, or the playlist has ended. | Enable looping for the media source or configure a playlist that repeats, then test through a complete cycle before launch. |
| Archive is missing or incomplete | The stream exceeded YouTube’s stated 12-hour archive threshold, or local recording was not enabled or saved successfully. | Use local recording and verify the file; if the YouTube archive is important, split the broadcast into sessions shorter than 12 hours. [YouTube live stream archiving] |
| Unexpected audio or color | Incorrect audio track/format, color-space mismatch, or an HDR workflow not configured end to end. | Recheck stereo AAC settings and Rec. 709 SDR configuration, then compare OBS output with the Live Control Room preview. |
