You can play PC and console games on an Android phone or tablet in three different ways: install a native Android port, stream a game from a cloud service, or stream from a PC or console you own. For offline play, start with a native port such as Dead Cells or Stardew Valley. For newer, demanding games, cloud gaming or remote play can work well—but both need a reliable connection, and most games feel better with a controller.
Choose how the game reaches your Android device
These options have different requirements, so check which one a recommendation uses before buying a game or subscription.
- Native port: The game installs and runs on Android. It can usually be played offline after any required download or license check, but compatibility, storage, features and controls vary by game.
- Cloud gaming: A remote server runs the game and streams its video to your device. You send input back over the internet. You may need a subscription, game ownership, or both, depending on the service and title.
- Remote play: Your own PC or console runs the game and streams it to your phone or tablet. You need the host hardware available and configured; this is not cloud gaming.
Emulation and unofficial Windows-compatibility tools are not covered here: performance, setup, legality and compatibility vary too much to treat them as dependable recommendations.

Native games are the best place to start if you want to play away from Wi-Fi or avoid streaming delay. Google Play availability does not guarantee that a game supports every Android device, and a large download may need substantially more free space to install.

Alien: Isolation — best premium survival-horror showcase
This is a substantial survival-horror game built for PC and consoles, adapted for Android with redesigned touch controls, controller support, and Android-compatible mouse and keyboard support. The Google Play listing says Android 10 or later is required, gives an approximate 11 GB storage requirement, and recommends at least 22 GB free for installation. The opening two missions are available before a one-time in-app purchase unlocks the full game and seven DLC packs. Check the current supported-device list and storage details on the Google Play listing; compatibility and requirements can change. It is a poor choice if you dislike horror or have limited storage.
Dead Cells — best native action game
Dead Cells brings its fast 2D action-platforming and roguelite progression to Android. The standard edition’s listing includes Return to Castlevania and says its latest updates include Clean Cut and The End Is Near. It is a one-time purchase; the listing showed $7.99 when observed, but prices vary by region and date. A separate Netflix edition includes the downloadable content for Netflix members, so continued access depends on membership. Compare the standard edition with the Netflix edition before choosing. Touch controls can work, but a controller is preferable when runs demand precise movement.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night — best low-cost classic
This is a direct mobile port of the classic action RPG, not simply an untouched PlayStation emulation. Its listing describes external-controller support, achievements, a continue feature and six languages. It showed a $2.99 price when observed; check the Google Play listing for the current price and compatibility. A controller is recommended, particularly if virtual controls are uncomfortable. The listing also gives a Pixel 4-specific display note: turn off Smooth Display on that device. This is not a general Android requirement.

Stardew Valley — best relaxed, touch-friendly game
The Android edition offers more than 50 hours of content, touchscreen controls, virtual joystick support, autosave and external-controller support, making it a natural fit for short sessions as well as longer play. The listing showed a $4.99 purchase, no in-app purchases and Play Pass availability when observed; those terms can vary. It says the mobile version does not support multiplayer and identifies its included story content as the 1.4 update content, so do not assume feature parity with newer PC or console editions. The listing was updated June 26, 2026; check the current Google Play page.
Play newer games through cloud gaming
Cloud gaming is useful when your phone cannot run a demanding title locally or you do not own a gaming PC or console. It also makes connection quality part of the experience: latency, packet loss, Wi-Fi interference and distance from a server can matter as much as headline download speed. A fast-paced shooter or rhythm game is less forgiving of delay than a turn-based RPG.
Xbox Cloud Gaming — for a console-oriented catalog
Xbox Cloud Gaming is aimed at players who want to stream supported games without installing them or owning an Xbox console. Xbox says Android phones and tablets need Android 12 or later for Cloud Gaming. The catalog depends on region, plan, title and licensing, and not every Xbox or Game Pass game is necessarily cloud-playable. Xbox’s mobile and cloud gaming page promotes controller support, including Xbox and Sony PlayStation controllers. Examples worth checking in the live catalog include Forza Horizon 5 for racing, Starfield for a large RPG, Halo: The Master Chief Collection for shooters, and Sea of Thieves for multiplayer. Treat those as candidates, not permanent availability guarantees.

GeForce NOW — for games you own on PC storefronts
GeForce NOW streams supported PC games, commonly from a library you already own or can access through a connected storefront; it is not a subscription that automatically includes every game it supports. NVIDIA says the service supports thousands of games from leading PC game stores, but each title’s availability and storefront requirements can change. Check the live catalog before buying a game for this purpose. Potential titles to look up include Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Baldur’s Gate 3, Death Stranding, Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Battlefield 6—none should be treated as a guaranteed, permanent inclusion. Stream games from a PC or console you own
Remote play avoids relying on a cloud catalog, but the game still runs on your own hardware. The host must be powered, connected and capable of running the game. For home streaming, connect the host to the router by Ethernet if possible and use 5 GHz Wi-Fi on the Android device.

Steam Link — best if you already have a gaming PC
Steam Link streams video and audio from your PC to an Android device. It works with compatible Steam games and does not require a separate Steam Link subscription. Valve lists Android 6.0 or later and describes controller schemes optimized for hundreds of games on its Steam Remote Play page.
- Install Steam Link from Google Play on your Android device.
- Make sure Steam is running on the host PC, then pair Steam Link with that PC. Using the same network for initial pairing is the simplest setup.
- Pair a controller with the Android device and check that Steam Link recognizes it.
- Choose a game from the Steam Link library and launch it. Some games may open a desktop prompt or launcher that is awkward to use on a phone.
- If the stream stutters, connect the PC to the router by Ethernet, switch the phone to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, then lower the streaming resolution or bitrate. Closing demanding host-side applications or reducing graphics settings may also help.
The PC must be awake, logged in and able to run the game. Congested Wi-Fi can cause stutter and input delay; Steam Link does not provide a remote gaming PC if yours is unavailable.

Xbox Remote Play — best if you own an Xbox
Xbox Remote Play streams games installed on your own Xbox console to a supported phone or tablet. It is distinct from Xbox Cloud Gaming: Remote Play requires your console, while Cloud Gaming streams from Xbox’s servers. Console power settings, network configuration, region and game support can affect whether Remote Play works. Xbox describes the mobile experience on its official mobile page.

PlayStation Remote Play — verify current requirements first
PlayStation Remote Play can be another route for games running on a PlayStation you own, but current Android OS requirements, supported console models, controller support, account and rest-mode settings, and app availability vary by region and should be checked on PlayStation’s official support pages before setup. Those requirements are not established here, so do not assume that a particular Android device or controller will work.

A controller is the most broadly useful accessory for Android gaming: it can improve native action games as well as cloud and remote play. Choose the form factor that suits how you play rather than assuming one model fits every phone or tablet.
- Telescopic USB-C controller: Clips around a phone for a handheld feel. Check USB-C compatibility and whether your phone case must come off; the connector may also obstruct ports or buttons on some devices.
- Telescopic Bluetooth controller: Offers a similar handheld arrangement without a direct connector. Bluetooth pairing is convenient, but adds another possible source of latency or connection trouble.
- Standard Bluetooth controller with a phone clip: A flexible choice if you already own a compatible controller. Make sure the clip securely fits your phone.
- Tablet stand and full-size controller: Often more comfortable than trying to attach a large tablet to a telescopic grip.
For games that explicitly suit touch—especially Stardew Valley and classic 2D titles—you can try the screen controls first. For shooters, racing games, precise platformers and most streamed console-style games, a physical controller is the safer choice. Before buying one, confirm that your chosen game and streaming app support it; controller prompts and button layouts can differ.

Choose by the way you play
- Want offline play? Choose a native port and check whether it requires an initial download or license check.
- Want a game that works well with touch? Start with Stardew Valley; consider classic 2D ports if you are comfortable with virtual controls.
- Own a gaming PC? Try Steam Link for compatible games in your Steam library.
- Own an Xbox? Use Remote Play for games installed on your console; look at Cloud Gaming separately if you want access to its streaming catalog.
- Own PC games but lack a capable PC? Check whether the exact game and storefront are supported by GeForce NOW.
- Want current, demanding games without local installation? Check Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW for the title in your region and plan, then use a controller and reliable Wi-Fi.
When streaming goes wrong
- Stuttering or delayed input: Test on 5 GHz Wi-Fi near the router, reduce other network traffic and, for remote play, use Ethernet for the host PC or console. Lowering streaming resolution or bitrate can help.
- Controller not recognized: Pair or connect it before launching the game, then check the streaming app’s controller settings. Confirm that the game supports the controller and that the device or app recognizes it.
- Game unavailable or blocked: Check the service’s current catalog, region and storefront requirements. A PC or console version does not guarantee cloud support.
- Native game cannot be installed: Check the listing’s supported devices, Android version and free storage. Installation can need more space than the displayed download size.
- Phone gets hot during a long stream: Lower brightness, avoid direct sunlight and consider Wi-Fi instead of cellular data; sustained high brightness and mobile data can add heat.
