There is no one best PC preset for every system in Gears of War: E-Day. Start by matching your hardware to the game’s final PC requirements, then choose whether you value frame rate or image quality more at your display’s resolution. From there, compare supported upscalers and tune accessibility options to suit how you play.
Check the official PC requirements before tuning
The Coalition published the final launch PC specifications in September 2026, with the specification image updated September 28. Check the tiered CPU, GPU, memory, operating-system and SSD requirements in the official Xbox Wire PC specifications announcement before changing graphics options. Use the tier that matches your hardware as a starting point; the published tiers are not, by themselves, a promise of a particular frame rate at every resolution.
E-Day is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12. The Coalition says it has been optimizing the game across a broad range of PC hardware, but that statement is not a substitute for testing on your own system. Its PC feature announcement lists hardware ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR and Intel XeSS. Supported technology options do not establish that one setting or upscaler will look or perform best on every graphics card. See the official PC feature announcement.
Choose your performance or image-quality goal
Set your display resolution and decide what matters most before adjusting individual graphics options. If you prefer smoother motion, use the game’s higher-frame-rate priority where it is offered. If you prefer more visual detail, choose higher quality. The official support guide documents this choice for Campaign, Horde Siege and Versus, but it does not provide a universal PC preset or numerical recipe for a particular GPU.

On first launch, open the Graphics tab and review the mode-specific graphics controls for the mode you play. The same tab includes Eco Mode, Idle Timeout and detection of 120 Hz output. These are menu-level options, not evidence that every PC will reach 120 frames per second. Consult the Gears of War accessibility and setup guide for the documented first-launch flow.
Compare upscalers on your own PC
DLSS, FSR, TSR and XeSS are available technology families, not a universal ranking. The best choice depends on your GPU compatibility, output resolution, preferred visual clarity and how the game feels while moving. If you use an upscaler, compare the available options at the resolution you actually play and inspect both image detail and frame pacing.

For a useful comparison, keep the scene and other settings the same, change one option at a time, and watch for changes in clarity, smoothness and responsiveness. This is a practical way to tune your setup, not a guarantee of a particular result or a game-specific benchmark.
Understand what Advanced Shader Delivery changes
Microsoft says Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) can provide precompiled shaders with a game download to reduce shader compilation work at launch, shorten first-launch waiting and reduce shader-related stutter. Microsoft’s DirectX Developer Blog reported an approximately 95% reduction in shader compilation time in 2026 for supported systems. That figure concerns shader compilation time—not average FPS, total loading time or every PC.

ASD support depends on system and driver conditions. Microsoft’s DirectX Developer Blog explanation specifies Windows 11 version 24H2 or higher and says to install the Xbox PC app before downloading the game to experience ASD. Its supported-hardware details and wider rollout may change, so check Microsoft’s current guidance rather than assuming the feature is active on your PC.
Use accessibility settings to make the game easier to read and control
The first-launch setup and dedicated Accessibility tab include options for text, subtitles, audio, visual effects and controls. Choose the ones that address your own needs; they are part of a usable setup, not merely performance tweaks.

TechRadar reviewer Dashiell Wood reported that his RTX 4090-powered PC reached “a rock-solid 75 frames per second (fps) at ultra settings while playing at 1080p.” That is one reviewer’s observation on one system, not a controlled comparison across graphics cards or a prediction for other PCs.
