If you’re waiting for a particular game to come to PS5—or for a PlayStation game to reach another platform—there’s no need to wait to play a strong action-adventure. For a fast choice, start with your preferred setting and pace. Open-world games give you room to roam; more focused adventures put greater emphasis on authored sequences, combat, or platforming. Story weight also varies, from mythic journeys to lighter, playful exploration.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 suits players who want movement to be part of the fun: its New York setting and two playable heroes make it a natural pick for superhero action and city traversal. If you’re looking to buy, check the current listing and edition for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PS5 before ordering.

For historical settings and myth
Ghost of Yōtei offers a historical warrior journey. PlayStation’s catalog places the beginning of Atsu’s story in 1603, in the lands around Mount Yōtei. Choose it for a grounded historical setting rather than superhero spectacle or futuristic science fiction.
God of War Ragnarök takes the opposite route into myth: Kratos and Atreus journey through the Nine Realms under the looming threat of Ragnarök. Its central draw is the father-and-son journey and mythic stakes, making it the pick here for players who want a story-forward fantasy adventure.

For focused action and science fiction
Stellar Blade is a story-driven action adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world. It is the clearest option on this list if you want a science-fiction setting and action at the center, rather than an expansive open-world sightseeing trip.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach leans more heavily toward story. Its premise follows Sam and his allies as they work to save humanity, making it a better match for players who want a distinctive, narrative-led journey than a quick, lighthearted action game.
For platforming and a lighter tone
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart brings colorful dimension-hopping, brisk action, and a lighter tone. It is a good alternative if you want variety and momentum without committing to a historical epic or a dense mythic story.

There are announced future adventures to look forward to, but an announced PS5 game is not evidence that unrelated games are being ported to PS5—or that PlayStation titles will come to another platform on a particular schedule. PlayStation announced Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis for 2026 and Tomb Raider: Catalyst for 2027. The first is described as a reimagining of Lara Croft’s 1996 debut; the second is a new adventure set in Northern India. Those are announced PS5 releases, not confirmation of a broader port pipeline. See PlayStation’s announcement of the two Tomb Raider games.
PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play post gave a September 24, 2026 launch date for Control Resonant and an October 1, 2026 date for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered. Both dates have passed as of October 7, 2026, so check current availability rather than treating either as upcoming. The same post announced God of War Laufey for PS5 without specifying a release date. A date was not stated in that announcement, which is not the same as a verified current release schedule. PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play announcements provide the original details.

Days Gone Remastered is also not a future port to wait for: it was announced for PS5 in February 2025 and has since been released. Its announced additions included improved graphical fidelity, Tempest 3D Audio, DualSense features, Horde Assault, and Permadeath mode. The original announcement is on PlayStation.Blog.
How to pick the right game for your wait
- Want to roam? Start with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or Horizon Forbidden West.
- Prefer a defined journey? Look to God of War Ragnarök, Stellar Blade, or Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, depending on how much you want myth, action, or story.
- Want a change of tone? Choose Ghost of Yōtei for a historical setting, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for colorful action, or Astro Bot for playful platforming.
- Considering a sequel? Horizon Forbidden West follows the world and gameplay of Horizon Zero Dawn; the other recommendations can be chosen by the setting and style described here.
- Waiting for a specific port? Verify the game, destination platform, and official release information separately. None of these recommendations establishes when another title will be ported.
