Choose the DualSense Edge if configurable controls and replaceable stick modules matter more; browse themed DualSense editions if collecting is the priority. Licensed third-party models add different layouts and customization, but may not preserve every PS5 controller feature.

Choose a controller for how you play
For a straightforward everyday controller: DualSense
The standard DualSense is the natural starting point if you want a first-party wireless controller without paying for extra configuration features. Its haptics and adaptive triggers are game-dependent: Sony describes them as features for compatible games, not a guarantee that every title uses them.
For adjustable controls: DualSense Edge
The Edge is aimed at players who will use its remapping and configuration options. Sony lists two mappable back buttons, adjustable trigger lengths, changeable stick modules and caps, sensitivity controls, vibration adjustment, and profiles that can be switched quickly. It retains DualSense features in supported games.
Do not mistake the replaceable stick design for an extra spare stick module in the box. Sony says additional modules are sold separately; check the current listing for the included caps, buttons, and case.

For a different layout or modular setup: licensed alternatives
PlayStation’s accessories page names Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded and Nacon Revolution 5 Pro as licensed partner controllers. Reviews of the Victrix describe it as a modular premium option, but that editorial coverage is not a hands-on assessment for this guide. Compare the manufacturer’s current specifications with the exact games and controls you care about.
Nacon’s stated vibration limitation is especially important if vibration is part of your PS5 experience: its Revolution 5 Pro motors work with PC and PS4 games but not dedicated PS5 games, according to Nacon. Nacon support also says you need a DualSense to wake a PS5 or PS4 console.

Pick a collector edition without assuming it is still available
Sony’s US DualSense page features designs including Grand Theft Auto VI Black and White, Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium and Battle Yellow, 007 First Light, Marathon, Genshin Impact, God of War 20th Anniversary, ASTRO BOT Joyful, Ghost of Yōtei Gold, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Sony marks ASTRO BOT Joyful and Ghost of Yōtei Gold as no longer available on that page; listing status for other designs can vary.
Check the official regional listing for the specific design before buying, then verify the seller and exact model if shopping resale. A themed design alone does not establish that a controller is rare or likely to gain value; no edition quantities or investment claims are established here.

- Feature support: If you want DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, verify support for the exact controller and game rather than assuming every licensed model reproduces those features.
- Compatibility and console controls: Read the manufacturer’s compatibility notes, including any limits on vibration or waking the console.
