Best dedicated PS5 adapter in 2026: XIM MATRIX, provided your game allows controller-emulated mouse and keyboard input and you accept the setup and enforcement risks. If the game natively supports keyboard and mouse, buy no adapter: connect the peripherals directly to PS5. Cronus Zen is a different, more automation-oriented product and is a poor default for fair-play competitive gaming.
Do you need an adapter?
The PS5 can recognize USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice, but Sony leaves gameplay support to each developer. A device working in the PS5 menus does not prove it will work in a particular game. Check the game and edition first.
Direct PS5 setup
- Connect a USB keyboard or mouse, or put a Bluetooth device into pairing mode.
- Open Settings > Accessories.
- For Bluetooth hardware, choose General > Bluetooth Accessories, then select the device.
- Adjust keyboard language and key-repeat behavior, plus mouse handedness and pointer speed, in accessory settings.
See Sony’s current instructions and compatibility caveat at PlayStation Support. Native input is simpler, cheaper and normally lower risk than translation hardware.

XIM MATRIX: best dedicated adapter
XIM MATRIX supports PS5, mouse, keyboard, controller and gyro combinations. Its Smart Translator system creates game-specific aiming profiles, while the MATRIX Manager app handles configurations. What it actually does
MATRIX reads mouse and keyboard signals and translates them into virtual controller-stick and button commands. It does not turn every game into a native PC-input title. Dead zones, stick acceleration and the game’s maximum turn speed still affect the result.
PS5 requirements
- PS5 and MATRIX must share the same local network; XIM recommends wired Ethernet.
- A compatible first-party controller or other authentication method may be required.
- Extra USB cables or authentication hardware may not be included.
- Configuration needs a compatible iOS, Android or Windows device.
- Firmware updates require Windows 10/11 x64 or macOS 10.11 or later with USB.
Follow the current procedure at XIM’s PS5 guide and review input/authentication details at XIM’s input-output guide. A typical setup is:
- Put the PS5 and MATRIX on the same network, preferably Ethernet.
- Connect the mouse and keyboard to MATRIX.
- Attach the required controller or authentication hardware for your chosen method.
- Open MATRIX Manager and create a PS5 configuration for the exact game.
- Select the game’s PS5 platform and the instructed DualSense/controller output.
- Set in-game sensitivity as the profile directs (often maximum), then tune sensitivity in MATRIX.
Wireless peripherals can need extra setup, and high-power RGB devices may exceed available USB power. MATRIX also includes Smart Actions, an advanced macro engine. Avoid macros, recoil scripts and automation in online games.

Who should not buy it
- Players whose game already has native keyboard-and-mouse support.
- Anyone unwilling to configure networking, profiles and authentication.
- Competitive players in games that prohibit or detect input-modification devices.
- Buyers expecting identical native-PC mouse behavior in every title.
Cronus Zen: a separate, higher-risk category
Cronus Zen combines controller crossover, mouse-and-keyboard conversion, GamePacks, scripts and macros. Its official overview is at Cronus. Current PS5 use requires the separately sold ZenLINK module according to the official shop; setup and updates require a Windows 10/11 computer, and some devices may need a powered USB hub.

Because Zen’s feature set centers on scripts, recoil changes, rapid fire and other automation, it is not the responsible default for competitive mouse-and-keyboard play. Use only functions permitted by the specific game’s rules.

Anti-cheat, matchmaking and account risk
Never assume an adapter is undetectable or ban-safe. Policies can target the device, its behavior or the advantage gained.
Apex Legends
EA classifies unfair use of XIM, Cronus, Strike Packs and similar devices as cheating, including input manipulation and automation: EA anti-cheat update.

Call of Duty
RICOCHET specifically names Cronus Zen and XIM MATRIX as unauthorized input-modification devices and says detection and enforcement are expanding: Activision’s update.
Destiny
Bungie’s policy covers programmable controllers, keyboard-and-mouse adapters, advanced macros and automation. It distinguishes legitimate accessibility from recoil reduction or aim assistance and allows restrictions or bans for unfair advantage: Bungie policy.
Rainbow Six Siege
Native console mouse-and-keyboard users are placed in the appropriate matchmaking environment, while MouseTrap enforcement remains active against attempts to circumvent it: Ubisoft MouseTrap announcement.

Setup and troubleshooting
Direct devices work in PS5 menus but not in-game
- Confirm the game and exact edition support keyboard and mouse.
- Check whether support must be enabled in the game’s settings.
- Test wired USB devices to eliminate Bluetooth pairing issues.
- Do not assume an adapter makes a prohibited title safe.
MATRIX will not connect
- Confirm PS5 and MATRIX share the same non-isolated network.
- Use Ethernet for the PS5 where possible.
- Select the correct PS5 configuration and update firmware/Manager.
- Reconnect required controller authentication hardware and check every cable.
Wireless devices disconnect
Try a wired mouse or keyboard, remove high-power RGB accessories, reduce receiver interference and use a powered USB hub when the adapter’s available power is insufficient.
The mouse does not feel like a PC
That is expected from controller emulation. Stick dead zones, acceleration and turn-speed limits remain. Tune both game and adapter sensitivity; do not expect zero latency or identical behavior across titles.
The game warns, restricts or changes matchmaking
Stop using the adapter in that title and follow the publisher’s current policy. Do not attempt to bypass detection.
