For longer battery life, keep the DeathAdder V3 Pro at its standard 1,000 Hz polling rate. Razer estimates up to 90 hours at that rate, compared with up to 17 hours at 8,000 Hz. Choose 8,000 Hz only if you specifically want the higher report rate and have the compatible HyperPolling Wireless Dongle; Razer’s specifications do not establish that every player will notice a responsiveness benefit.

Choose a polling rate based on your priority

Polling rate is how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. Razer lists 1,000 Hz as the DeathAdder V3 Pro’s default. Its official specifications give battery life as “Up to 90 hours at 1000 Hz” and “Up to 17 hours at 8000 Hz.” Those are Razer’s estimates, not guaranteed or independently measured runtimes. Razer Support: DeathAdder V3 Pro (Classic Base).

Setting Razer’s stated battery estimate What to know
1,000 Hz Up to 90 hours, per Razer Support Default polling rate; the battery-first choice.
8,000 Hz Up to 17 hours, per Razer Support Requires the compatible HyperPolling Wireless Dongle for wireless use; Razer says the mouse does not support 8,000 Hz in wired mode.

Razer’s product FAQ describes the dongle as sold separately for the classic-base model. However, bundle contents differ: the Smooth Touch support page lists a HyperPolling Wireless Dongle in that variant’s box contents. Check the exact edition and package you own rather than assuming the accessory is included or excluded. The figures describe polling and manufacturer battery estimates; they do not prove that 8,000 Hz will improve perceived responsiveness, end-to-end latency, or gameplay for every player and setup. If battery life matters more than trying the higher report rate, stay at 1,000 Hz.

Set DPI for the control you already have

The factory DPI stages are 400, 800, 1,600, 3,200, and 6,400 DPI, with 1,600 DPI as the default. Razer Synapse lets you customize the stages. These are available choices, not a recommendation that one number is best for every game or player. Start with a sensitivity you can control reliably, and change it only when your own aiming or desktop use gives you a reason to do so. Razer product page and FAQ.

If you leave the factory stages unchanged, press and release the button on the bottom of the mouse to cycle through them. Razer says holding that button for three seconds toggles the mouse’s power.

Configure and save the profile you intend to use

Use Razer Synapse to set advanced options such as polling rate and DPI stages. The DeathAdder V3 Pro stores one onboard profile, based on the last Synapse profile used. Configure the settings you want in Synapse and save or select that profile before relying on the mouse on another computer; do not assume multiple profiles will be available from onboard memory.
