Best RTX 4080 GPUs: Top RTX 4080 SUPER Models and Buying Advice for 2026

The RTX 4080 SUPER is the better target than the original 4080 when prices are close—but in 2026, compare every listing with the RTX 5080 before buying.

Updated August 18, 2026: The RTX 5080 is now an essential price comparison, so an RTX 4080-family card is worth buying only when its price, fit or specific features make sense against newer hardware. For most buyers targeting this generation, choose the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER OC if it costs close to a standard 4080 SUPER. Choose the MSI SUPRIM X for its premium cooler and dual BIOS, the Gigabyte Gaming OC when discounted, or the ASUS ProArt when its design suits your build. For used cards, prioritize a verifiable, returnable RTX 4080 SUPER over an original RTX 4080 at similar prices.

That is a model shortlist, not a claim that any one card is the best deal at every price. The decisive comparison is the specific card’s price against both the cheapest credible RTX 4080 SUPER and the RTX 5080. April 2026 marketplace tracking put the lowest tracked RTX 4080 SUPER listings at about $1,008 on average, with a broader-period low average around $976; those are historical marketplace signals, not current retailer prices or guarantees. See the April 2026 price tracking.

Which RTX 4080 should you buy?

  • Best all-round partner card: ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4080 SUPER OC, provided its price is close to other well-cooled 4080 SUPER cards.
  • Premium cooling and features: MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G SUPRIM X, if its cooler, dual BIOS and build are worth the premium to you.
  • Value when discounted: Gigabyte RTX 4080 SUPER Gaming OC, chosen on price rather than its factory-overclock label.
  • Creator-oriented design: ASUS ProArt RTX 4080 SUPER OC, when its appearance or dimensions solve a real build need.
  • Best used-market approach: buy the cleanest, verifiable RTX 4080 SUPER at a substantial discount, not a particular brand by default.

If a new RTX 4080 SUPER is within roughly 10% of an RTX 5080, favor the RTX 5080. At a 15–25% lower price, the 4080 SUPER deserves serious consideration; between those gaps, compare the exact price, warranty, and features. These are practical editorial thresholds, not manufacturer specifications. Avoid paying more for a 4080 SUPER than an RTX 5080 unless a specific 4080 model’s fit, design or warranty is especially valuable to your build.

RTX 4080 versus RTX 4080 SUPER

The RTX 4080 SUPER is a refresh, not a wholly different class of GPU. It keeps the Ada Lovelace architecture and 16GB GDDR6X memory while adding cores and a small increase to NVIDIA’s reference boost clock. Its $999 launch MSRP was also $200 below the original RTX 4080’s $1,199 launch MSRP. Those are launch prices, not current market quotes.

Specifications and launch MSRPs are from NVIDIA’s RTX 4080-family specifications. At similar prices, the SUPER is the sensible target. An original RTX 4080 only becomes compelling when it is meaningfully cheaper. Check listings carefully: marketplace titles may omit “SUPER,” use an incomplete model name, or confuse a desktop card with laptop GPU terminology. Confirm the full desktop model number before buying.

Recommended RTX 4080 SUPER partner cards

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER OC: best all-rounder

The TUF is a strong default shortlist choice because it pairs a conventional air-cooled design with an OC mode and full RTX 4080 SUPER specifications. ASUS lists 16GB GDDR6X, a 3.65-slot cooler, three DisplayPort outputs, two HDMI 2.1a outputs, a single 16-pin power connector and an 850W recommended PSU for this model. Its listed dimensions are 348.2 × 150 × 72.6mm, so it is emphatically not a small card. Check your case and cable clearance before ordering.

The factory overclock is not a reason to pay a large premium: cards using the same GPU and memory configuration remain in the same general performance class. Pick the TUF when the price is competitive and its cooler, output selection and physical fit work for you. See ASUS’s TUF RTX 4080 SUPER product page and its product comparison.

MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G SUPRIM X: premium cooling and dual BIOS

MSI’s SUPRIM X is the premium-feature choice. Its specification material lists TRI FROZR 3S cooling, a vapor chamber for the GPU and memory, dual Gaming and Silent BIOS modes, 16GB GDDR6X at 23Gbps, and a boost clock up to 2,640MHz. It has three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs and one HDMI output.

Those features make the SUPRIM X attractive to buyers who value its cooler construction and BIOS flexibility, but they do not establish that it is categorically the quietest RTX 4080 SUPER. Noise depends on the exact card, BIOS, workload and test conditions; require an exact-model review before relying on a noise superlative. The premium is hard to justify if a similarly suitable card costs much less. Details: MSI SUPRIM X specifications and the SUPRIM X datasheet.

NVIDIA - GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X Graphics Card
  • Powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (16GB) graphics processing unit (GPU) with a 2.51 GHz boost clock speed
  • PCI Express 4.0 and earlier PCI Express 3.0. Offers compatibility with a range of systems
  • 9,728 NVIDIA CUDA Cores, 2.51 GHz Boost Clock, Dedicated Ray Tracing Cores
  • Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate, Vulkan RT APIs

Gigabyte RTX 4080 SUPER Gaming OC: buy it when the price is right

The Gaming OC uses a large air cooler, with a copper plate contacting the GPU and memory and composite heat pipes. Gigabyte lists 16GB GDDR6X on a 256-bit interface and a default OC mode. Its case for recommendation is a competitive price paired with the cooler and warranty you want—not an assumption that a higher advertised clock means proportionally higher frame rates.

Verify the exact Gigabyte variant on the listing. Gaming OC, Windforce, Aero and Aorus Master are different product names and should not be treated as interchangeable. Product details: Gigabyte RTX 4080 SUPER Gaming OC.

ASUS ProArt RTX 4080 SUPER OC: for a deliberate creator build

The ProArt brings a restrained creator-oriented look and is described by ASUS as SFF-ready. It retains the RTX 4080 SUPER performance class and 16GB memory. Consider it when its appearance or physical design suits your workstation; paying extra solely for the branding is difficult to justify if a less expensive card fits the same case and workload.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“SFF-ready” does not mean compatible with every small-form-factor case. Confirm the exact card length and thickness, case GPU limit, power-connector clearance and cable bend space. Product information: ASUS ProArt RTX 4080 SUPER OC.

When the RTX 5080 is the better buy

The RTX 5080 is the newer Blackwell-generation card, with 16GB GDDR7, DLSS 4.5 and Multi Frame Generation support. Those features are distinct from the RTX 40-series DLSS 3 frame generation; do not assume the two generations offer identical capabilities. NVIDIA’s RTX 5080 product material describes its features. In Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 aggregate hierarchy, the 5080 scored 69.8% relative 4K Ultra performance versus 62.6% for the 4080 SUPER. This is a test aggregate, not a promise of that gap in any particular game. See the GPU hierarchy and its methodology.

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX® 4080 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card (PCIe 4.0, 16GB GDDR6X, HDMI 2.1a, DisplayPort 1.4a), 3 Year Warranty
  • NVIDIA Ada Lovelace Streaming Multiprocessors: Up to 2x performance and power efficiency
  • 4th Generation Tensor Cores: Up to 2X AI performance
  • 3rd Generation RT Cores: Up to 2X ray tracing performance
  • Axial-tech fans scaled up for 23% more airflow
  • New patented vapor chamber with milled heatspreader for lower GPU temps

Use the price difference as a decision aid, then account for the game or application you actually use, the warranty and the card’s fit. The 4080 SUPER may still be the better purchase at a substantial discount, particularly if traditional raster performance matters more to you than the newer frame-generation features, or you have a specific preference for a particular 4080 cooler or form factor. The two cards both have 16GB, so a move to the 5080 does not increase nominal VRAM capacity.

Is 16GB enough for 4K gaming and creative work?

Sixteen gigabytes remains sufficient for most current 4K gaming workloads, but it is not an unlimited reserve for every future setting or application. Ultra textures, intensive ray tracing, mods, professional workloads and some AI uses can benefit from more video memory. Whether a game runs well at 4K also depends on settings, ray tracing, upscaling and frame generation; the GPU name alone cannot guarantee a particular experience.

Check power, connectors and physical fit before buying

Power supply and cable

Use the exact card maker’s PSU recommendation as a starting point, not a guarantee that every PSU with that wattage is suitable. NVIDIA’s Founders Edition guidance is in the 850W system-PSU class for the RTX 4080 family; partner recommendations can differ. For example, ASUS’s comparison lists 850W for its RTX 4080 SUPER TUF and 750W for the original RTX 4080 TUF entry. CPU power draw, PSU quality and age, system configuration and transient loads all matter.

  • Check the PSU recommendation for the exact board-partner model and your full system.
  • Where supported, prefer a modern ATX 3.x PSU with a native 12V-2×6 or 12VHPWR GPU cable.
  • If using the supplied adapter, fully seat every connector and avoid a sharp bend immediately beside the plug.
  • Do not choose a 750W unit on the basis of wattage alone; assess the PSU, CPU and system together.

Case clearance and outputs

For the ASUS TUF RTX 4080 SUPER, ASUS lists 348.2 × 150 × 72.6mm and a 3.65-slot design. Those dimensions illustrate why “triple fan” is not a useful fit specification on its own. Measure the case and check:

  • maximum GPU length and thickness, including blocked expansion slots;
  • clearance from front fans or a radiator, plus side-panel space;
  • room for the power cable to exit without a sharp bend;
  • whether a support bracket conflicts with the case or other hardware;
  • the number and type of display outputs your monitors require.

Card dimensions, slot descriptions and PSU guidance are model-specific. The TUF figures above come from ASUS’s product comparison; do not apply them to every RTX 4080-family board.

Does the partner brand change gaming performance?

All RTX 4080 SUPER partner cards use the same underlying NVIDIA GPU generation and 16GB memory configuration. Factory clocks may differ, but advertised boost clocks do not translate directly into proportional frame-rate gains: NVIDIA GPU Boost adjusts clocks dynamically, and actual results depend on workload, power limits and temperature. The more useful distinctions are:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Cooling and noise: cooler design affects heat and fan behavior, but exact-model testing is needed for a noise or temperature ranking.
  • Size and fit: thickness, length and connector clearance can decide whether a card works in your case.
  • BIOS and power limits: some models offer multiple BIOS modes or different operating profiles.
  • Warranty and support: terms vary by maker, region, seller and whether the card is used.
  • Price and appearance: RGB, finish and premium materials matter only if they are worth their cost to you.
  • Individual sample behavior: coil whine can vary between units, so a return window matters more than brand-wide promises.

How to choose a used or refurbished RTX 4080

A used listing should be assessed by its total risk-adjusted cost, not just its sticker price. Prefer an RTX 4080 SUPER to the original RTX 4080 when their prices are close; choose the original only when the discount is meaningful enough to offset its lower core count and older launch position.

  1. Confirm the exact model. Get the full desktop product name and model number, and verify whether it is an RTX 4080 or RTX 4080 SUPER.
  2. Establish seller and return terms. Favor a verifiable seller and a clear return window. For refurbished or open-box stock, confirm what warranty applies and which accessories are included.
  3. Check history and warranty. Ask for proof of purchase and check whether the warranty is transferable under the maker’s rules for your region.
  4. Inspect the card and connector. Look for a damaged power plug, repair or liquid-damage signs, cooler modification, missing adapter and unusual fan noise. Ask for a working demonstration if possible.
  5. Compare the real price. Factor in the lost or limited warranty, return risk and missing accessories, then compare with a new RTX 5080 and a new or refurbished 4080 SUPER.
  6. Confirm fit and power. Check dimensions, connector clearance, PSU suitability and the exact model’s output ports before committing.

A low price alone does not establish that a card is safe or in good condition. No brand or board model eliminates marketplace fraud, repair history or sample-specific coil whine.

What to compare in a listing

  • Exact desktop GPU and partner model, including “SUPER” where applicable.
  • New, refurbished, open-box or used condition—and who backs the warranty.
  • Price against the cheapest credible RTX 4080 SUPER and RTX 5080 available to you.
  • Exact dimensions, PSU guidance, connector and outputs for that specific model.
  • Return terms, included cables or adapter, and whether a used card’s purchase history is documented.

For April 2026 historical context—not an August 2026 quote—the tracked average for the lowest RTX 4080 SUPER marketplace listings was about $1,008, with a broader tracking-period low average around $976.
