That broad use of “simulation” means these picks suit different moods—not all are realistic or systems-heavy simulators. The original list was presented in no particular order; the recommendations below instead group each game by what it does best. Prices and monetization are the source’s August 2023 snapshot, not a guarantee of current price or availability.

Best premium all-rounder: Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley combines farming with animal care, crafting, fishing, mining, exploration, festivals, relationships, and home customization. It is the strongest pick here if you want one substantial premium game rather than a narrow cooking or idle loop. Its official Google Play listing advertises more than 50 hours of content, multiple control options, auto-save, and touch controls designed for mobile; actual playtime depends on how you play. The listing shows $4.99 and no IAP in the surfaced store information, though store prices can vary by region and date. See the official Android listing.
It is a farming RPG, not a realistic agricultural simulator. The Android listing also says multiplayer is not supported, so do not assume the mobile edition has feature parity with PC or console versions.

Best 3D crafting and life game: My Time at Portia
This larger 3D game puts you in charge of an inherited workshop. Gather materials, craft commissions, improve the workshop, farm, meet residents, form relationships, explore, and take on combat areas. The Google Play description lists more than 50 interactable NPCs, automation, animal husbandry, riding, and family formation. It is the pick for players who want several connected activities and a more expansive world than a short-session casual game. Check the official listing.
The official listing recommends Android 9.0 or later and more than 3 GB of RAM. It is also a comparatively large install: the August 2023 article estimated approximately 1.1 GB, but actual download and installed sizes can change with device, assets, and updates. Controller support was not listed in the surfaced Play Store description. The August 2023 source reported a $7.99 purchase with no IAP; availability and pricing may differ by country.
Best free base-management game: Fallout Shelter
Build rooms in an underground vault, assign residents to jobs, balance food and other resources, train and equip dwellers, expand, and send residents into the wasteland. The official Google Play page also describes quests and offline play. The source recorded the game as free with IAP; the current official listing identifies ads and in-app purchases as well. That makes it a useful no-upfront-cost entry point for players who enjoy assigning people and managing a growing base, but not a no-IAP alternative. View the official Fallout Shelter listing.

Do not confuse it with Fallout Shelter Online, a separate Android game with a different listing and a different strategy-RPG structure. Its separate listing identifies that other title.

Pocket Build is for making a world rather than following a strict campaign. Its official listing describes a large open world, hundreds of items, instant placement, a sandbox mode with unlimited resources, and a first-person view. It also offers a survival mode built around collecting and mining, but the central appeal is freeform construction—castles, houses, farms, bridges, and towns. If you need goals and a tightly directed management challenge, its open-endedness may feel aimless. The August 2023 source reported a free download with IAP. See the official listing.
Cooking games: choose the kind of kitchen loop you want
The Ramen Sensei 2
Prepare ramen, handle orders, develop recipes, play mini-games, and enter cooking competitions. It is the best fit here for quick restaurant-themed sessions and incremental recipe progression. The play is closer to arcade time management than to a detailed restaurant business simulator, and the August 2023 source listed it as free with IAP.

SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off
This licensed cooking game pairs fast recipe preparation and customer service with restaurant upgrades, decoration, and character outfits. It suits SpongeBob fans who want brisk levels and light customization. The franchise is a substantial part of the appeal; if you are not interested in the characters, The Ramen Sensei 2 or Cooking Mama may be a better match. The August 2023 source reported a free download with IAP. A third-party tracking page describes it as an online cooking game, but that is not an official store listing: Sensor Tower’s US tracking page.
Cooking Mama: Let’s Cook!
This is a collection of cooking activities built around more than 30 recipes, rankings, and instructional-style cooking videos, rather than a deep restaurant-management system. It is the straightforward choice for casual recipe-themed mini-games and family-oriented play. The August 2023 article reported a free download with IAP and more than 50 million installs, but its rating figures conflict—4.1 in one place and 4.4 in another—so a rating is not a sound basis for choosing it.
Relaxed progression: Guitar Girl
Guitar Girl follows a guitarist building an online following. Progression unlocks bigger stages and songs while followers and likes grow; players can also decorate her room. This is a low-pressure, idle-style progression game, not a music-performance simulator that tests instrument technique. The August 2023 source reported it as free with IAP.

Collecting and decorating: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Build and customize a campsite, camper, cabin, and character, collect themed items, and interact with animals. The August 2023 article highlighted more than 300 clothing items, more than 1,000 furniture pieces, and interaction with more than 100 animals. These are figures reported at that time, not a guarantee of current content or service status. The game is a fit for collecting and decoration, not for deep farming like Stardew Valley or unrestricted construction like Pocket Build. Its original reported model was free with IAP; live-service details and availability can change.
Story-first pick: Tears of Themis
This narrative investigation game centers on an attorney protagonist, cases, evidence, testimonies, and character relationships. Choose it for story and character-centered progression rather than production chains, building, or resource balancing. Its investigation and relationship systems make it an unusual fit under the broad simulation label, and its free-to-play structure includes IAP according to the August 2023 source.

In the historical price snapshot, Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia were the two paid downloads, both reported without IAP. The other eight were reported free to download with IAP. The source also noted that Stardew Valley could be included with Google Play Pass at the time; subscription catalogs and regional inclusion can change, so treat that as a dated note rather than a standing entitlement.

For a one-time purchase and broad farming/life play, start with Stardew Valley. Choose My Time at Portia for 3D crafting and social systems if your device meets its stated requirements. For a free first try, Fallout Shelter offers a structured management loop, while Pocket Build offers a less directed creative one. A free download does not establish how often a game uses ads, timers, currencies, or optional purchases; the August 2023 source does not provide enough detail to compare the intensity of those systems game by game.

If you mean a vehicle, flight, city-economy, or realistic physics simulator, this particular list is not aimed at that niche.

Those are August 2023 estimates, not current download guarantees: sizes can vary with updates, Android version, device, and additional assets.
