Best overall for a cloud-run, prerecorded YouTube channel: StreamNeo—upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops from the cloud, so your computer does not need to stay on; every slot supports the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. For a free local encoder, OBS is an option, but the computer running it must keep supplying the feed.
How prerecorded videos become a 24/7 YouTube live stream
YouTube does not turn an uploaded playlist into a continuous live broadcast by itself. A live encoder sends YouTube a feed; that encoder can run on your computer or on a cloud service. Scheduling a YouTube event in Live Control Room and supplying the encoder feed are related but separate tasks.
YouTube’s verified encoder directory includes OBS as no-charge open-source streaming software and lists Gyre and Upstream among options described for 24/7 use. A directory listing is not a ranking or an independent reliability certification. Product capabilities below are vendor-described unless attributed to YouTube.
Best software and approaches
| Rank / option | What it does | Key fit or limitation |
|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Cloud service for looping uploaded videos or playlists to YouTube continuously. | Always on from the cloud; any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot; first day free. |
| 2. Upstream | Vendor says it supports ordered or shuffled cloud playlists and continuous or scheduled prerecorded video. | Its FAQ describes a free allowance of 24 streaming hours per month. Check that the allowance and playlist controls fit your use. |
| 3. Gyre | Listed in YouTube’s verified encoder directory among 24/7-oriented options. | Confirm current playlist, scheduling, plan, storage, and duration details with the vendor; the directory is not a comparative test. |
| 4. OneStream Live | Vendor help documents a YouTube-only 24/7 workflow. | Requires Enterprise for 24/7 streaming and permits a maximum scheduled duration of 30 days, according to its help article. |
| 5. LiveGoLive | Vendor describes cloud playlist upload and continuous or scheduled operation. | YouTube authorization is marked beta; manual stream-key configuration is also described. Check which connection method is currently available. |
| 6. Looping Stream | Vendor describes cloud playback and playlist management without keeping a local computer online. | Compare current storage, simultaneous-stream, format, and plan details before choosing. |
| 7. OBS or another local encoder | Runs the encoder feed on your own computer; OBS is listed by YouTube as no-charge open-source software. | You supply the powered computer, network connection, playback setup, monitoring, and recovery when something stops. |
There is no independent head-to-head reliability test established for these options. Choose based on the workflow and limits you can verify, rather than assuming that a vendor feature description proves uptime.

How to choose the right setup
Choose cloud playout if the channel must keep running unattended
A cloud service runs the playout on vendor infrastructure, so shutting your browser or computer does not end the encoder feed. In return, you depend on a third party’s service, storage, plan limits, and recovery process. Check whether the tool supports ordered or shuffled loops, one-off or recurring schedules, and the broadcast duration you need.
Choose a local encoder if you want direct control and can maintain it
A local setup avoids relying on a cloud playout subscription, but the computer must remain on and connected, and you need a way to restart playback and reconnect the feed after failures. Verify that the software can actually play and repeat prerecorded files unattended; a general-purpose live-production encoder is not automatically a hands-off playlist scheduler.

Compare operational details, not just the word “24/7”
- Cloud or local operation, and who is responsible for restarting a dropped feed.
- Ordered playlists, shuffle, scheduled start times, and repeating schedules.
- Duration limits, storage, simultaneous streams, and destinations.
- How the stream key is handled and who can access the channel.
- How broadcast rotation and YouTube archive boundaries are managed.
- Whether the vendor’s documented plan includes the specific 24/7 feature you need.
Set up the YouTube side correctly
- Activate live streaming. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help. Do this before the intended launch.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the broadcast. The event schedule is not the playlist playout; your encoder or cloud service must still send the live feed.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the encoder or service’s YouTube destination settings. For a scheduled broadcast, YouTube’s documented flow includes waiting for the preview and clicking Go live when appropriate.
- Verify the preview and status. Confirm the correct video is reaching YouTube before treating the channel as live. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to the channel.
For the platform’s instructions, see YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Stream settings such as bitrate and keyframe interval depend on the encoder and chosen output; use YouTube’s current recommended settings and the service’s own guidance rather than assuming every software product uses the same controls.
Rights, archives, and continuous operation
Use content you are allowed to broadcast
Only stream video and audio your channel owns or has permission to use. Making prerecorded media appear as a live feed does not remove copyright, Community Guidelines, or monetization-policy obligations. A rights-safe playlist should include music, footage, images, and any third-party material cleared for the intended use. See the copyright safety checklist.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Plan for archive boundaries
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 setup therefore needs an approach to broadcast rotation and archive management rather than assuming one recording will remain a single uninterrupted archive. LiveGoLive distinguishes a connected mode that can rotate broadcasts from a manual mode where the channel operator manages YouTube broadcasts and archives.
Protect the stream key
Do not publish the key or paste it into public chat. If a service offers account authorization, review its requested permissions; if using a manual key, enter it only into the intended service and keep access limited.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream for a new channel. | Live streaming activation is not complete. | Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| The scheduled event exists but shows no incoming video. | The encoder is not connected to the matching event or has incorrect connection details. | Check the server URL and stream key, then wait for a preview. Start the event in Live Control Room when the preview is ready. |
| The stream stops when you close your laptop. | The playout is running locally rather than in the cloud. | Keep the local encoder computer and network active, or move playout to a cloud service. |
| The stream drops and does not resume. | The encoder, network, or service may not have recovered automatically. | Check the service’s recovery behavior and your monitoring/restart plan; do not infer reliability from a 24/7 label. |
| The broadcast ends or archive behavior changes around 12 hours. | YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours, and long-running setups need rotation planning. | Review the service’s broadcast-rotation mode and decide who manages event transitions and archives. |
| A playlist contains a claim or receives a policy issue. | Rights to music, footage, or other media may be missing or unsuitable. | Remove or replace the material unless you have authorization for the use, and review YouTube’s applicable policies. |
Costs and planning before launch
Cloud plans can bundle storage, playlist tools, destinations, and unattended operation; local encoding instead uses your own computer and network. Compare the total operating cost and the time required to monitor and recover the channel. Upstream’s vendor FAQ states a free allowance of 24 streaming hours per month; it is not a 24/7 monthly allowance. OneStream’s documented 30-day maximum is a duration cap, not a statement about uptime. Current full plan matrices and prices for the other named services are not established here, so verify them directly before committing.
