Best Software for Streaming Prerecorded Videos on YouTube 24/7

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a genuinely continuous prerecorded YouTube stream, choose a service built for 24/7 cloud playback; for a no-charge DIY setup you can monitor, OBS Studio is the clearest starting point. StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider if you want a YouTube-only stream to keep running without leaving a computer on: upload a video or playlist, add your stream key, and go live. YouTube’s encoder directory also lists Gyre and Upstream for this use case. A scheduled prerecorded broadcast is not automatically a 24/7 loop, so check a service’s duration and playlist behavior before choosing it.

Best options for prerecorded YouTube streams that run 24/7

The right software depends on whether you want to operate the stream yourself or hand off continuous playback to a cloud service. YouTube identifies OBS Studio as free, open-source encoder software, and its encoder directory includes cloud services relevant to 24/7 prerecorded streaming. Those directory listings confirm category fit, not independent performance testing or an endorsement.

Option Best fit What to verify
StreamNeo Cloud playback of uploaded videos or playlists without keeping your computer on. YouTube stream key, available storage, playlist contents, and the service terms that suit your runtime.
OBS Studio A no-charge local encoder for a DIY stream you can monitor and maintain. Host computer and internet connection must remain available; plan for monitoring and recovery.
Gyre A cloud tool listed by YouTube for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streams. Current pricing, file and playlist limits, recovery behavior, monitoring, and included runtime.
Upstream A cloud studio listed by YouTube for easy 24/7 video streaming. Current pricing, file and playlist limits, recovery behavior, monitoring, and included runtime.

For any provider, distinguish continuous looping or playlist playback from a one-time scheduled broadcast. Compare maximum file length and size, accepted codecs and resolutions, simultaneous streams, reconnect behavior, stream-health monitoring, price, included runtime, and whether the service archives or exports anything. Current comparable prices and uptime guarantees for Gyre and Upstream are not established here, so check their current terms rather than assuming one is cheaper or more reliable.

Why a scheduled prerecorded stream may not be 24/7 software

Scheduling a prerecorded video to start automatically is useful for an event, but it does not establish that a product will loop content continuously. StreamYard’s help documentation describes automatic starts for scheduled prerecorded broadcasts. It lists maximum video lengths of two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Teams and Business; paid-plan prerecorded broadcasts stream at up to 1080p. The same documentation specifies MP4 uploads with H.264 video and an upload bitrate limit of 10 Mbps. These published limits describe scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, not a 24/7 playlist feature.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Before relying on a scheduler for an unattended channel, confirm whether it can repeat or move through a playlist indefinitely, what happens when a video ends, and whether it can restart after a dropped connection. If those answers are not explicit, treat it as event software rather than a continuous-stream solution.

DIY option: run prerecorded video through OBS Studio

OBS Studio is the clearest free local starting point: YouTube’s encoder directory describes it as open-source recording and live-streaming software available at no charge. A local setup gives you control, but your computer, power, network, OBS process, and monitoring all become part of the broadcast. You need to handle interruptions yourself unless you configure and supervise recovery.

  1. Enable live streaming on YouTube. In YouTube Studio, start the live-stream setup for your channel and complete any required verification. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch.
  2. Prepare the video and rights. Use video and audio that you own or have permission to broadcast. Check that your file plays correctly from beginning to end and decide how you will repeat or sequence the prerecorded material in OBS.
  3. Install OBS Studio from the OBS Project. Add your video source and configure the scene and audio. Keep the computer awake, connected to power, and on a stable internet connection for the full broadcast.
  4. Create or select the YouTube stream in YouTube Studio. Copy the stream key from the live control room and enter it in OBS under Settings > Stream, using YouTube as the service. Treat the key like a password; anyone who obtains it could broadcast to your channel.
  5. Set encoder output to a supported format. Restream’s YouTube guidance, dated July 9, 2026, lists H.264 video, 240p–2160p resolution, 3,000–40,000 Kbps bitrate depending on resolution and frame rate, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval, with four seconds as the maximum. These are Restream’s published settings; check the settings shown by YouTube for your stream before going live, and choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain.
  6. Start the encoder and verify the broadcast. Start streaming in OBS, then check YouTube Studio’s stream preview and health indicators before treating the channel as live. Confirm both picture and sound, and keep OBS and the computer running.
  7. Plan for continuity and archives. Enable and test OBS reconnection options, and arrange a way to notice a failed stream. Restream says YouTube has no stream-duration limit, but archives streams only when they are under 12 hours; that is Restream’s documented guidance, not a promise that every long broadcast will be archived.

Cloud option: keep the channel running without a home computer

For unattended prerecorded playback, StreamNeo is a direct cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded content from the cloud, so no computer, OBS installation, or home connection has to stay on. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.

YouTube setup, stream keys, and content rules

Enablement and encoder connection

YouTube’s encoder workflow is to enable live streaming, install an encoder, connect equipment as needed, and connect the encoder to the live control room. An encoder converts video to a digital format for streaming. YouTube notes that first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Its encoder directory cautions that listed products are not made by YouTube and asks creators to evaluate which option suits their needs.

Protect the stream key

A stream key connects your encoder or cloud service to the channel’s live broadcast. Do not publish it, share it in screenshots, or place it in public code or messages. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the connected encoder or service. Test the full path before an important broadcast.

Copyright and monetization

Use only material you own or have permission to stream, including music, game footage, overlays, and any background audio. A streaming tool cannot grant those rights or guarantee monetization. YouTube decides channel eligibility and reviews content under its own rules; using a prerecorded-stream service does not change those decisions.

Troubleshooting an unattended prerecorded stream

  • YouTube will not accept the stream: Confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel, allow for the possible first-time enablement delay, and check that the encoder or cloud service has the current stream key.
  • The stream connects but has no picture or sound: Check the selected video source, audio routing, and encoder output. Use a supported codec and a bitrate and resolution the connection can sustain.
  • The stream drops or repeatedly reconnects: On a local setup, check the computer’s power and sleep settings, network stability, OBS status, and reconnection configuration. For a cloud service, verify its interruption-recovery behavior and monitoring rather than assuming every service recovers automatically.
  • The video stops instead of looping: Check whether the product supports 24/7 playlist or loop playback. A scheduled prerecorded broadcast may stop at the end of its permitted video duration.
  • An upload is rejected: Check the provider’s file type, codec, size, duration, resolution, and bitrate limits. For StreamYard prerecorded broadcasts, its help page specifies MP4 with H.264 video and a 10 Mbps upload bitrate limit.
  • A long stream is missing from the archive: Restream’s guidance says YouTube archives streams only when they are under 12 hours. Do not rely on the live stream itself as the only copy of important source material.

Choosing between local and cloud streaming

Choose OBS when no software cost matters most, you can leave a capable computer and connection running, and you are willing to monitor and troubleshoot the stream. Choose a dedicated cloud option when the central requirement is continuous playback without an always-on computer. For scheduled, finite prerecorded events, a scheduler such as StreamYard may fit, provided its documented duration and format limits match the event. Before committing to any continuous service, verify loop behavior, storage and upload limits, reconnect handling, monitoring, concurrent-stream limits, and current terms.
