The strongest Switch 2-native Soulslike picks are ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition and Lies of P: Complete Edition. Older Nintendo Switch games—including Dark Souls: Remastered, Ashen, Salt and Sanctuary and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights—are additional possibilities, but check each title’s Switch 2 compatibility before buying or downloading it.

ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition
Choose this for a large, freely explorable action RPG: the Lands Between combine open-world exploration with dungeons. ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition became available for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. Bandai Namco says the package includes the original game and Shadow of the Erdtree, plus two starting classes, four armor sets and three appearance options for Torrent. Bandai Namco’s release announcement details the contents and availability; FromSoftware’s announcement describes the setting and open-world structure.
It is the most natural fit if you want exploration and a broad scope rather than a tightly directed journey. The included expansion makes this a substantial package, though its presence does not guarantee that every player will prefer the base game’s open-ended approach.
Lies of P: Complete Edition
Choose Lies of P for a more directed, boss-focused action adventure. TechRadar’s Switch 2 review describes it as a Soulslike with challenging bosses, exploration and build variety. The Complete Edition arrived on Switch 2 on August 6, 2026, and includes the base game, the Overture expansion and previously released cosmetic DLC, according to TechRadar’s review.

That same review says performance or balanced graphics settings were preferable for both docked and handheld play, while quality-focused settings involved a performance compromise. This is the reviewer’s assessment, not an independent benchmark.
Older Switch Soulslikes to check for compatibility
These games were released for Nintendo Switch, not as the Switch 2-native editions above. Nintendo says Switch 2 plays compatible physical and digital Switch games, but warns that some titles may be unsupported or not fully compatible. Use Nintendo’s compatibility information to check the specific game before treating it as a confirmed Switch 2 option.

- For an expansive world and bundled expansion: ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition.
- For a more directed adventure with challenging bosses: Lies of P: Complete Edition.
- For a classic FromSoftware-style starting point: check Dark Souls: Remastered compatibility first.
- For a 2D alternative: look at Salt and Sanctuary or Ender Lilies, after checking compatibility.
- For a less punishing take: consider Ashen, with the same title-level compatibility check.
How to verify an older game
- Find the game’s specific entry in Nintendo’s compatibility information: Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility and support.
- Check the listed status for the exact title and version you plan to use; do not infer compatibility from another game in the series or from its presence in a Switch catalog.
- If you own a physical copy, confirm its status too: Nintendo’s general guidance covers compatible physical as well as digital Switch games, with exceptions.
