Choose Streamlabs Desktop if you prefer connecting your Kick account inside the app. Kick also supports XSplit and MELD, while Kick Web Go Live lets you stream from a browser without installing desktop software.
What is the best streaming software for Kick?
Kick’s official desktop guide lists OBS Studio, XSplit, Streamlabs Desktop, and MELD as supported streaming applications. Kick provides setup instructions for OBS and Streamlabs Desktop, but does not publish a scored comparison of all four. The recommendation here is based on documented compatibility and setup, not hands-on performance testing. Kick’s streaming software setup guide (May 22, 2026) is the place to verify current setup instructions.
| Option | Best fit | Kick connection |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Studio | Desktop streamers who want a free encoder with a documented custom-server setup | Enter Kick’s server URL and stream key in OBS |
| Streamlabs Desktop | Desktop streamers who prefer an integrated account connection | Authorize Kick under Settings > Stream, then choose Kick when going live |
| XSplit | Desktop streamers who already use it or prefer its workflow | Listed by Kick as a supported application; the cited Kick guide does not provide a scored comparison |
| MELD | Desktop streamers who already use it or prefer its workflow | Listed by Kick as a supported application; the cited Kick guide does not provide a scored comparison |
| Kick Web Go Live | Creators who want to start in a browser without separate streaming software | Use Kick’s browser-based live workflow, with built-in scenes, widgets, and camera and microphone controls |
The available official material does not establish comparative CPU use, reliability, feature parity, or stream quality for these choices. All desktop encoders still need settings that meet Kick’s output limits.
Can you stream on Kick with OBS?
Yes. OBS is a desktop encoder, and Kick’s documented setup uses a custom server URL and stream key from the Creator Dashboard. Interface labels can change; if an OBS label differs from the steps below, look for the equivalent Stream or Output control.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Get your connection details. Sign in to Kick and open your Creator Dashboard. Find the stream URL and stream key in the dashboard’s stream settings.
- Enter the details in OBS. Open Settings > Stream, select Custom as the service, then paste Kick’s server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields.
- Set compatible output. In OBS, configure an H.264 encoder, CBR rate control, a bitrate no higher than 8,000 kbps, a resolution no higher than 1920×1080, and a frame rate no higher than 60 fps. Set audio to stereo at no more than 48 kHz. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain.
- Set stream information on Kick. Enter your title and category in the Kick Creator Dashboard.
- Start streaming. Click Start Streaming in OBS and check the Kick channel to confirm the broadcast appears.
Kick’s guide gives example settings for x264, NVIDIA NVENC H.264, and AMD HW H.264. Which hardware encoder appears depends on your computer. Its guidance is: “Everyone’s setup is different, so we have prepared several recommended settings for different encoders and setups.”
Is Streamlabs better than OBS for Kick?
They offer different documented connection workflows, not a proven performance hierarchy. OBS uses Kick’s custom server URL and stream key. Streamlabs Desktop can connect through account authorization, which may suit someone who wants an integrated connection flow. The available Kick material does not establish that either application uses less CPU, is more reliable, or produces better-looking streams.

Connect Streamlabs Desktop to Kick
- Open Settings > Stream in Streamlabs Desktop and choose Kick as the platform.
- Authorize the connection in the browser when prompted, then return to Streamlabs Desktop.
- Configure output to meet Kick’s limits: H.264, CBR, no more than 8,000 kbps, 1920×1080, and 60 fps; use stereo audio up to 48 kHz.
- Choose Go Live and make sure Kick is toggled on.
- Set or update the stream title on Kick after going live; Kick’s guide says Streamlabs titles need to be set manually there.
Can you go live on Kick without downloading software?
Yes. Kick Web Go Live is a browser option for starting a stream without installing a separate desktop encoder. Kick describes built-in scenes, widgets, and camera and microphone controls. It is a practical choice for a simple browser-based setup; desktop software is the documented route if you want to configure an external encoder such as OBS.
What settings does Kick require?
Kick’s Help Center guidance, published in 2026, sets the following output ceilings and format requirements. Treat these as maximums, not a promise that every internet connection can sustain the top bitrate.

| Setting | Kick guidance | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264/x264 | Choose an H.264 software or hardware encoder supported by your streaming app. |
| Rate control | CBR | Set constant bitrate in the encoder. |
| Video bitrate | Maximum 8,000 kbps | Use a lower rate if your available upload speed cannot sustain 8,000 kbps. |
| Resolution | Maximum 1920×1080 | Do not configure output above 1080p. |
| Frame rate | Maximum 60 fps | Choose 60 fps or lower. |
| Audio | Stereo, up to 48 kHz | Configure stereo audio at 48 kHz or lower. |
These requirements come from Kick’s setup guide and Kick’s streaming configuration guide. Leave headroom in your internet connection rather than setting the bitrate to the maximum by default; Kick specifically advises accounting for available upload speed.
Which option fits mobile streaming?
Kick lists its official app, Streamlabs Mobile, Prism Live Studio, Larix Broadcaster, and Moblin for mobile streaming. The right workflow depends on whether you are broadcasting an IRL outing, casual mobile gameplay, or a desktop game. The available Kick material does not compare their performance, feature parity, or reliability, so choose based on the mobile workflow you need and verify its current Kick connection steps in the app.

Common Kick streaming problems and fixes
- Kick does not receive the stream: Check that the server URL and stream key are copied correctly. If you reset the key, replace the old value in your streaming app.
- The connection is unstable or output does not meet requirements: Verify H.264, CBR, the bitrate ceiling, resolution, frame-rate, and audio settings above. Reduce bitrate if your upload speed is insufficient.
- The app cannot connect: Update the streaming application and check whether firewall or network rules are blocking the connection.
- Streamlabs goes live with the wrong or missing title: Set the title manually on Kick after going live, as Kick’s Streamlabs instructions require.
- Someone else may be able to broadcast to your channel: Treat the stream key like a password. Kick warns that anyone who has it can broadcast to your channel; do not share it, and reset it if it may have been exposed.
For the current connection and configuration instructions, see Kick’s software setup guide and configuration guide.
Optional beginner gear
You do not need to buy a microphone to use streaming software. Kick’s beginner checklist notes that a basic USB microphone may improve audio compared with a built-in laptop microphone; it is an optional upgrade, not a software requirement. No particular model is endorsed here. See Kick’s beginner checklist.

OBS and the other options above are for broadcasting to Kick. StreamNeo is a separate service for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos; it does not stream to Kick. To use it, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the loop running, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free day.
