The Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set is the safest choice for a permanent TV setup: it is made for the console and includes the correct AC adapter and Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable. For travel, Genki’s Covert Dock 3 combines a compact dock and charger. JSAUX offers a port-rich desktop alternative and cheaper compact adapters, but third-party docks can be firmware-sensitive. Choose by how you’ll use the dock, not by port count alone.

Which dock should you buy?
Choose the Nintendo Dock Set for the lowest-risk setup
For a second room or a replacement dock, the official Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set is the straightforward choice. Its $119.99 U.S. MSRP was announced by Nintendo in April 2025, and its box includes the main accessories needed to connect to a TV. Nintendo also specifies Ethernet on the Switch 2 dock. It costs more than a bare adapter and is not a pocket-sized travel solution, but buyers avoid piecing together a compatible power supply and HDMI cable.

Genki’s Covert Dock 3 is a compact travel option with an integrated 65-W GaN adapter, foldable prongs, HDMI and USB-A. Genki advertises HDR and VRR support and positions it for Switch 2 as well as other USB-C devices. Its integrated power is the main convenience; its limited port selection makes it a poor substitute for a desktop dock with Ethernet and multiple USB connections. The $69.99 figure was a sale price observed August 18, 2026, not a verified regular price.

Choose JSAUX 6-in-1 for ports and wired networking
The JSAUX 6-in-1 Gaming Dock is the feature-heavy alternative for a desk or entertainment center. JSAUX lists HDMI, Ethernet, USB expansion, controller-related features and 4K/60-Hz output. GamesRadar reported successful Switch 2 use in its hands-on review, including several output modes; that is one review’s result, not a compatibility guarantee across all firmware and displays. The current price was not established in the August 18, 2026 check, so confirm the live listing and what power accessories are included before comparing it with a complete kit.
Choose the JSAUX OmniCentro for integrated charging at a lower price
The OmniCentro Charger Dock combines a 65-W PD charger with HDMI and USB-A. JSAUX listed the U.S.-plug charger dock at $45.99 and a basic kit with HDMI at $53.99 in the August 18, 2026 price check. It is a reasonable middle ground if you want one compact dock-and-charger unit, but it does not offer the 6-in-1’s listed Ethernet and broader expansion.
Choose the JSAUX Dock Adapter only if you have the rest of the setup
The JSAUX Dock Adapter is a small adapter rather than a full cradle. JSAUX listed variants at $16.99–$19.99, with HDMI, USB-A and USB-C power-delivery features depending on the model. Treat that as the adapter price, not the cost of a complete TV setup: you may also need a suitable charger, USB-C cable and HDMI cable, as well as a safe way to support the console. JSAUX specifically warns that the 3-in-1 version needs a firmware update for Switch 2 system version 21.0.0.

Check compatibility before buying
A USB-C plug and HDMI socket do not, by themselves, make a device a Switch 2 TV dock. The dock must support video from the console’s bottom USB-C connection, provide appropriate power behavior, and pass a video mode your display accepts. It must also physically connect without putting undue pressure on the console. Generic laptop hubs may rely on DisplayLink drivers, DisplayPort modes or power profiles that do not match Switch 2 requirements; a listing that only says “USB-C dock” is not enough evidence.
- Look for an explicit Switch 2 compatibility statement and a manufacturer support page.
- Check whether power is built in, supplied in the box or sold separately. A “65-W PD” rating is a maximum product specification; it does not mean the console receives 65 W.
- Confirm the exact HDMI mode, cable inclusion, and whether HDR or VRR is claimed for Switch 2 rather than only for other devices.
- For a third-party product, find out how firmware updates are obtained and whether the process requires a computer.
- Check return terms and case fit. Do not force a cased console into a tight cradle or use a dock that presses sideways on the USB-C connector.
Nintendo says the original Nintendo Switch dock is not compatible with Switch 2. The original Switch AC adapter can charge Switch 2 when connected directly to the console, but Nintendo says it cannot power Switch 2 TV mode because its output differs. Nintendo’s compatibility guidance also distinguishes individual accessories from the old dock: an accessory working through a Switch 2 dock does not make the original dock compatible.
Understand resolution, refresh rate, HDR and VRR
Nintendo says Switch 2 can output up to 4K resolution, while games can reach up to 120 frames per second when the game and display support it. Those are maximum capabilities, not a claim that every game renders at 4K or runs at 120 fps. Nintendo’s launch information qualifies the frame-rate figure by compatible games and TVs.
- 4K/60 Hz: a useful high-resolution target for a TV; JSAUX lists this output for its 6-in-1 and adapter products.
- 1080p/120 Hz: may suit a compatible game and gaming monitor, but check the dock and display’s supported modes.
- 1440p/120 Hz or 4K/120 Hz: do not assume support from a generic “4K” or “120 Hz” label. Verify the specific dock, game, display, settings and HDMI path.
- HDR and VRR: separate features that require compatible console output, dock, cable, display and content. Genki advertises HDR and VRR for Covert Dock 3; that does not guarantee either feature with every TV and game.
A dock does not improve a game’s rendering performance. It can only pass through the modes the console produces and the rest of the video chain accepts. For a 4K/120-Hz-capable setup, use an appropriate Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable and verify any receiver, switch or soundbar in the path as well.
Compare complete setup cost, not just dock price
The official Dock Set includes the dock, AC adapter, USB-C charging cable and Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable. A compact adapter’s low sticker price can be misleading if you still need those supporting pieces. Before buying, add the necessary items for your setup:
- Dock or adapter.
- Suitable power adapter and USB-C cable, unless integrated or included.
- HDMI cable, unless included or built in.
- Ethernet cable if you plan to use a dock’s wired networking port.
- A stable stand or cradle if the product is only an adapter.
For a USB-C monitor, do not assume you can skip an HDMI dock: video and power over USB-C are display- and cable-specific, and this connection should be used only when the display and cable support the required behavior. A capture card is also a separate use case, not a TV dock replacement; adding one creates another connection point and may introduce latency.

Connect a Switch 2 to a TV
Official Nintendo Dock
- Place the dock near the TV and connect the Switch 2 AC adapter to the dock’s AC adapter port.
- Connect the Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable to the dock’s HDMI port and connect its other end directly to the TV or monitor.
- Select that HDMI input on the display.
- Insert the Switch 2 into the dock.
Nintendo’s TV connection instructions provide the official connection sequence and call for the Switch 2 AC adapter and an Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable.
Third-party dock or adapter
- Follow the manufacturer’s order. In general, connect the dock to its supplied adapter or a suitable USB-C PD power source.
- Connect HDMI directly to the TV or monitor, then connect any optional USB devices or Ethernet.
- Connect the console using its bottom USB-C port and select the matching display input.
- If the dock requires firmware for your system version, follow the manufacturer’s update instructions.
Do not use the console’s top USB-C port for docking unless the accessory manufacturer explicitly supports that arrangement. A charging dock is not necessarily a video dock.

No picture
- Check that the TV is on the correct HDMI input.
- Disconnect dock power, HDMI and the console.
- Reconnect power to the dock, then connect HDMI directly from dock to TV and reinsert the console.
- Remove HDMI switches, splitters, capture cards, AV receivers and soundbars from the signal path for the test.
- Try another HDMI port and cable. Start at 1080p before attempting higher modes.
- Check whether the dock has a firmware update for the installed Switch 2 system version.
- If using a third-party dock, test with Nintendo’s official Switch 2 AC adapter only if the dock maker permits it.
Nintendo’s no-video troubleshooting guidance recommends bypassing external HDMI devices while diagnosing output problems.

It charges but does not show video
Charging alone does not prove that the adapter supports TV output. Check the dock’s video compatibility, power requirements, correct USB-C connection, HDMI cable and firmware. If it worked before a system update, check the manufacturer’s compatibility notices before assuming the console or TV has failed.
Works at 1080p but not at 4K or higher refresh rates
Test with the dock connected directly to the TV and change one feature at a time. The cable, a TV input’s enhanced-bandwidth setting, an intermediate receiver or switch, the dock’s 4K/60-Hz limit, or a particular resolution/refresh combination can prevent the desired mode. Try 4K first, then add HDR or VRR individually.
Third-party dock stops working after an update
JSAUX’s product page calls out a firmware update for its 3-in-1 adapter following Switch 2 system version 21.0.0. Tom’s Hardware also reported that a system update temporarily stopped some third-party docks from working; Nintendo said it had no intention of blocking third-party docks. That episode shows compatibility can be firmware-sensitive, not that every third-party dock has been permanently blocked. Check the maker’s support page and update process before buying.

Heat or case-fit concerns
Keep vents unobstructed and do not put a dock under fabric or in a closed compartment. Use the supplied or manufacturer-recommended power source; stop using a product with a burning smell, repeated shutdowns, a damaged cable or abnormal heat. Check the maker’s case-thickness guidance before docking a console in a protective case, and never force a tight fit.
