Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Short answer: Vultr’s documented setup for looping prerecorded video on YouTube 24/7 uses its One Click Vultr Broadcaster A16 GPU Marketplace instance, not a regular Vultr Cloud Compute plan. Vultr does not publish a validated minimum Cloud Compute configuration for continuous OBS encoding, so its cheapest shared-CPU instance is not a supported recommendation for this workload.
If you specifically need a standard Cloud Compute VM, choose only after testing your own video and settings. If you want a documented Vultr workflow, use the A16 GPU Broadcaster guide; if you want to avoid managing a server, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative for YouTube video loops.
Which Vultr plan should you choose?
For Vultr’s documented 24/7 prerecorded-video workflow, choose the One Click Vultr Broadcaster A16 GPU Marketplace instance. Vultr’s guide describes using its browser-accessible Broadcaster setup, uploading media to the server, and configuring OBS to loop it to a destination such as YouTube. This is a GPU Marketplace instance, not a regular shared-CPU Cloud Compute tier. Vultr’s Broadcaster guide is dated July 25, 2024; check Marketplace availability and pricing when deploying.
Vultr’s Cloud Compute overview lists an entry configuration of 1 vCPU, 0.5 GB RAM, and 10 GB storage from $0.005/hour, as shown when accessed October 3, 2026. That is an entry price, not evidence that the configuration can encode an OBS stream reliably. Vultr’s cited material does not benchmark regular Cloud Compute plans for OBS, or identify a minimum CPU and memory configuration for a particular resolution and frame rate. Check Vultr’s current Cloud Compute options before ordering, since availability and prices can change.

| Choice | What is established | How to use that information |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Runs uploaded videos as a 24/7 YouTube stream from the cloud; any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with a free first day. | First choice if you want a managed loop without configuring a VM or leaving a computer running. |
| Vultr Broadcaster A16 GPU Marketplace instance | Vultr’s guide specifies this instance for its Broadcaster setup and documents looping media in OBS. | Best-supported Vultr choice for the documented workflow; confirm current availability and pricing. |
| Regular Vultr Cloud Compute | The overview lists an entry configuration of 1 vCPU, 0.5 GB RAM, and 10 GB storage from $0.005/hour; no cited source validates a Cloud Compute minimum for this OBS workload. | Test a configuration against your actual video, settings, and workload rather than selecting by the entry price alone. |
For regular Cloud Compute, compare tested encoding performance, CPU and memory headroom, media storage, included bandwidth, and total cost. A 24/7 stream has a continuous workload, and performance requirements depend on resolution, frame rate, codec, and any scenes or effects. The available Vultr material does not establish a reliable minimum for those variables.
How to set up the Vultr Broadcaster loop
- Deploy the One Click A16 GPU Marketplace instance. Follow the Vultr Broadcaster guide and verify the Marketplace listing and instance price at deployment. Do not substitute the lowest-priced Cloud Compute VM and assume it is adequate; Vultr’s cited guide does not establish that.
- Transfer your source video to the server. Vultr names SFTP, SCP, FTP, and Rsync as transfer options. For a 24/7 stream, its guide says to upload source files to the server.
- Set the destination and stream key. Configure the Broadcaster/OBS stream destination for YouTube and enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in screenshots or logs you share.
- Add and loop your media. In OBS, add a Media Source for a single file and enable Loop. For multiple files, Vultr points to VLC Video Source. Confirm the intended order and that the selected files are available on the server.
- Set encoder output and test before going live. Use YouTube’s recommendations below as a starting point, then test with audio and motion similar to the planned broadcast. Monitor stream health after launch.
YouTube encoder settings to check
YouTube recommends RTMPS for sending a live stream. Its current encoder guidance includes H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, up to 60 fps; it recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of four seconds. For H.264, its table recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps, 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps, and 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a Vultr-specific ingest benchmark. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance, which can change.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Resolution and frame rate: Match the output to the quality you need and the server’s demonstrated ability to encode it. Do not infer that a VM can handle a setting just because YouTube accepts it.
- Bitrate: Use YouTube’s recommended value for the chosen codec and output resolution/frame rate as a starting point. The outbound server connection must sustain the stream; the cited sources do not give a Vultr-specific YouTube ingest benchmark.
- Keyframes and rate control: Set CBR and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds, per YouTube’s guidance.
- Audio and motion: Test using audio and movement comparable to the actual program, not only a static image or silent clip.
- Health monitoring: Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages while live. A cloud instance or broad provider benefit does not guarantee an uninterrupted YouTube broadcast.
YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, but that does not remove the need to send a stable, correctly configured input. The available sources do not establish that a 24/7 broadcast will remain uninterrupted or be archived under all circumstances; do not treat either outcome as guaranteed.
Costs and the trade-off of managing a VM
The Cloud Compute overview’s listed entry price, $0.005/hour, applies to the stated entry configuration and is not a quoted cost for the Broadcaster A16 GPU Marketplace instance. The sources here do not establish the A16 instance’s current price, or a suitable Cloud Compute configuration and its total cost for your stream. Check Vultr’s live listing and account for the server, storage, outbound data transfer, and your operating time before deciding.

With a self-managed Vultr setup, you are responsible for deploying and configuring the server, transferring media, setting up the stream, and checking that it remains healthy. That gives you control of the environment, but the documentation does not promise that a specific Cloud Compute VM will sustain a given encoding workload or that the stream cannot drop.
