For an unattended rotation of recorded gaming videos, use a cloud service that supports YouTube playlists. YouTube’s webcam workflow is built around a webcam, microphone, and optional screen sharing; its encoder workflow sends a live feed from an encoder. Neither guide describes a native YouTube feature that automatically rotates VOD files. A cloud service can handle the file playout without OBS or a computer running at home.
Choose a playlist broadcast or a continuous loop
First decide whether you want one scheduled broadcast that plays a finite sequence of videos, or a channel that keeps looping content continuously. Those are different workflows and may require different plan access. Check that your YouTube channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming prerequisites include channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions during the prior 90 days, and a minimum age of 16. Set up a finite VOD playlist with a cloud service
- Pick the broadcast type. Choose a finite playlist if you want one scheduled event. Choose a separate 24/7 mode only if you need a continuous rotation and have confirmed the service supports your intended run length.
- Select and order the videos. In OneStream Live, its playlist workflow allows video selection from your device, its storage, or cloud storage, then playlist ordering. Use the service’s current playlist setup screen; the exact labels may change.
- Choose YouTube and configure the broadcast. Select YouTube as the destination, enter the broadcast details, and schedule it. Confirm the correct channel is connected before scheduling.

- Review archive expectations. YouTube’s webcam and encoder guides say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not establish the archive outcome for longer streams, so do not assume a longer continuous broadcast will remain available as one replay. Handle gaming VOD rights and channel rules
Having a recording does not by itself establish that you have the rights to rebroadcast every element in it. Before scheduling, check that you are allowed to stream the gameplay recording and any music, overlays, or other third-party material it contains. YouTube’s live-stream rules apply whether the video is sent by an encoder or a cloud service; using a playlist does not make copyrighted material permissible. Review YouTube’s current policies for your channel and the rights attached to each recording.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- You cannot go live: verify that the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility conditions and has no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days.
- The playlist option is unavailable: check whether the account is on a plan that includes playlist streaming. OneStream Live states that this feature requires Professional or Enterprise; check the current account page because plan terms can change.
- A continuous run cannot be scheduled for the period you want: confirm the provider’s 24/7 feature, plan, and maximum run length. OneStream Live documents its YouTube-only 24/7 mode on Enterprise, for up to 30 days per scheduled run.
- The stream starts but does not behave like an automatic file rotation: distinguish a source/encoder feed from a playlist feature. YouTube’s encoder flow receives a feed; it does not supply the file playout.
- You expect a long broadcast to become one replay: YouTube’s cited archive guidance establishes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not the outcome for longer streams.
Make the choice by workflow, not by the word “live”
If you need a finite sequence, use a service with documented playlist sequencing and verify its current plan access.
