Starting at the spot nearest the raft and moving clockwise, place Friendship, Trust, Nurturing, Remembrance, Love, Courage, and Power.
How do I start Between a Skull Rock and a Hard Place?
- Complete The Dark Castle. The Orb of Unity is collected inside the castle.
- Go to the island beside Skull Rock in southeast Dazzle Beach. Find the Pillar of Unity there.
- Insert the Orb of Unity into the Pillar of Unity. The quest begins after the orb is placed. Dreamlight Valley Wiki’s quest guide and its Pillar of Unity page identify these prerequisites and location.
Where is the Orb of Unity?
The Orb of Unity is inside The Dark Castle, so finish that quest and collect the orb before heading to Skull Rock. The Pillar of Unity is on the nearby island in southeast Dazzle Beach; inserting the orb into that pillar triggers the new quest.
What is the correct pillar order on Skull Rock Island?
Open furniture placement mode and move each of the seven restored pillars to the position around the Pillar of Unity that matches its symbol and color. Starting with the position nearest the raft, move clockwise:

What if the pillars will not unite?
Check that all seven pillars are placed in the positions indicated by their matching symbols and colors, using the raft-side position as the starting point for the clockwise order. If the arrangement still does not register, compare it with the positioning screenshot on Gameloft Support’s pillar-placement help page, which is specifically for players having difficulty uniting them.

Once the pillars are arranged, uncover the mystery of the Pillar of Unity on Skull Rock Island, then speak to Merlin. The quest guide describes a brief scene in which Skull Rock shakes after the mystery objective and lists the reward as 500 Friendship. Dreamlight Valley Wiki quest details.
