The reported contents include a physical Bitcoin and rare Pokémon cards, alongside gold, antiquities, sports memorabilia and other valuables. Collins-Black’s official FAQ said on October 4, 2026, that he was aware of no boxes having been found.
What is Jon Collins-Black’s treasure hunt?
It is a nationwide treasure hunt created by Jon Collins-Black, who wrote There’s Treasure Inside as the source of the puzzles. The official website describes five boxes hidden across the United States, with no more than one box in any state. The project’s launch received news coverage in November and December 2024, but the official book—not news summaries—is described as containing the clues that bring hunters within a reasonable proximity of the boxes.
Collins-Black says he spent nearly five years acquiring items, securing them at hidden locations and writing the book. That is the creator’s account of the project’s timeline, not an independently verified accounting.
Has anyone found the treasure yet?
As of October 4, 2026, Collins-Black’s official FAQ stated: “As of today, I am aware of no boxes that have been found.” He says he will announce a find on the official site. This reports what the organizer says he knows; it is not independent verification of every search or a guarantee that the status has not changed since that date.

What is hidden in the Bitcoin treasure hunt?
The official site names broad categories that include Bitcoin, antiquities, shipwreck bounty, rare Pokémon cards, sports memorabilia, gold, other precious metals and rare gems. It does not publish a complete item-by-item inventory. Independent launch-era reporting by The Independent gave examples including shipwreck gold doubloons, rare Pokémon cards, a Michael Jordan rookie card and a physical Bitcoin. Those are reported examples, not a complete or independently appraised inventory.
Collins-Black says he personally spent “well over two million dollars” acquiring the items. That figure describes his reported spending, not the boxes’ independently assessed value. The official FAQ also says their true total value is impossible to calculate, and the reviewed sources do not establish a current aggregate appraisal. In particular, Bitcoin and collectible-card prices can change, so a fixed current prize valuation should not be inferred from the creator’s spending figure.

How do you find the Pokémon cards?
The hunt’s clues are in There’s Treasure Inside by Jon Collins-Black. The official FAQ says: “All the clues you need to get within a decent proximity of each treasure box are inside the book.” That means the book provides the puzzle material; it does not mean buying it guarantees a find or a prize. The exact location and solving process are not established by the broad prize descriptions, and speculative location theories are not a substitute for the book’s clues.
News coverage can explain the hunt and cite examples, but it is not presented as a replacement for the clue book. MassLive’s launch coverage discussed the book’s role and retail availability at the time. Current price, stock and edition availability may differ, so check a retailer directly if you want to participate.

What does “$2 million treasure hunt” mean?
The headline figure refers to Collins-Black’s reported acquisition spending, which he describes as well over $2 million. It should not be read as a current independently confirmed valuation of the prizes. The official site says the total value is impossible to calculate, and no complete independent appraisal is established in the cited launch coverage. The distinction matters: what the organizer says he paid is not necessarily what the items would sell for today.

The official hunt website is the source for the organizer’s published clues-and-book information and his reported find status. News articles offer background and examples, but they do not provide the full puzzle material described by Collins-Black. Because find status and book availability may change, consult the official site for updates before relying on an older article.
