BitLife’s Social Media update was version 1.37, released on June 12, 2020. It added Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube, along with influencer monetization, viral posts, celebrity followers, bought followers, trolls, hackers, suspensions and appeals. It is a historical release—not a new 2026 update. The U.S. App Store listing is now in the 3.24.x series, with version 3.24.4 visible in its history.
When did BitLife Social Media update 1.37 launch?
Version 1.37 launched on June 12, 2020, according to the contemporary patch-note coverage and the historical update archive. Articles using wording such as “now live” were describing that June 2020 release window; they should not be read as announcing a new 2026 launch.
The original patch-note details are documented by Pro Game Guides, while the version history is recorded in the fan-maintained BitLife Wiki update archive.
Was version 1.37 iOS-only?
The update archive places version 1.37 in the iOS history, and contemporary Reddit discussions described the Social Media update as available on iOS first or only at that time. That evidence does not establish permanent iOS exclusivity or a definitive Android release date.

Posts, followers and viral attention
Posts could potentially go viral, and accounts could attract celebrity followers. Players could also buy followers, although the notes warn that doing so could lead to trouble. Viral results and follower growth were possibilities, not guaranteed outcomes, and the available documentation does not establish exact follower numbers or probabilities.
Risks and enforcement
Trolls and hackers introduced negative events. Accounts could be suspended, with an appeal option available. The patch notes do not state suspension odds or appeal success rates.

How did the update change gameplay?
Social Media created a risk-and-reward loop: choose a platform, publish posts, pursue attention, and use advertising or product promotions to monetize an account. Viral posts and celebrity followers could improve visibility, while purchased followers, trolls, hackers and suspensions could create setbacks. The documented notes do not prove that influencer activity was the game’s most profitable career or that any platform was definitively best.
Was the Social Media update free?
The version 1.37 patch notes present these features as update content and do not identify a separate paid expansion or required purchase. BitLife’s current App Store listing describes the game as free with optional in-app purchases, but that current description is not proof that every historical feature had the same monetization treatment.

How to update BitLife or look for Social Media features
- Open the App Store on iPhone or iPad.
- Search for BitLife – Life Simulator.
- Check the installed version and install any available update.
- Relaunch BitLife and inspect its current menus for social-media systems.
- If nothing changes, close and reopen the app and check again later.
- Confirm that the device meets the current operating-system requirement.
- If the problem continues, contact BitLife support with the device model, operating-system version, reproduction steps and screenshots.
BitLife’s official Help Center recommends checking the App Store or Google Play, waiting and trying again if an update has not propagated, keeping the operating system current and checking available storage. The current U.S. App Store listing requires iOS 15.0 or later for iPhone and iPad; that is a present-day requirement, not the requirement for the 2020 release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What if Social Media is missing?
- Version mismatch: You may be reading a 2020 guide while running a much newer build whose menus have changed.
- Incomplete update: The installed app may still be on an older build, or App Store propagation may be delayed.
- Platform difference: Version 1.37 was reported as an iOS-first or iOS-only rollout, so Android availability cannot be inferred from the iOS article.
- Regional or build variation: Platform-specific or regional versions may expose features differently.
- Compatibility: An unsupported operating system or insufficient storage can prevent updating.
- Data risk: BitLife warns that deleting and reinstalling can sometimes result in lost game data, so do not reinstall casually.
If the feature remains absent after checking for updates, waiting and confirming compatibility, use the support guidance at bitlifeapp.com/help.
