Black Myth: Wukong has five principal secret areas tied to the hidden-ending route: Ancient Guanyin Temple, the Kingdom of Sahali, Mount Mei, Purple Cloud Mountain, and Bishui Cave. Each has a different unlock condition. Mount Mei is the final gate: you must first complete the secret areas in Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5, as well as the Chapter 3 Treasure Hunter quest. This guide gives the route and trigger for each area, then separates other hidden Chapter 2 encounters that are easy to mistake for additional secret areas.

Chapter 1: Ancient Guanyin Temple
Ring all three bells
- In the Forest of Wolves, inspect the arenas associated with Guangzhi, Guangmou, and Whiteclad Noble. Each has a bell.
- Ring all three bells. Ringing the third transports you to Ancient Guanyin Temple.
- Defeat Elder Jinchi inside the temple.
- After the fight, return to the tree near the third bell and interact with the hanging body to obtain the Fireproof Mantle vessel.
Defeating the three bosses is not the trigger by itself: the route opens when all three bells have been rung. Check the arenas before moving on if you are unsure whether you rang each one.
Chapter 2: Kingdom of Sahali
Finish the Drunken Boar questline
- Complete the Drunken Boar questline to open the route to the Kingdom of Sahali. PowerPyx’s boar quest walkthrough covers its steps.
- In the secret area, defeat the Tiger Vanguard there. This is a different encounter from the Tiger Vanguard at Crouching Tiger Temple.
- Speak to the NPC on the cliff to trigger Fuban’s encounter.
- Defeat Fuban to receive the Wind Tamer vessel.
Other optional Chapter 2 secrets
Several hidden Chapter 2 encounters are separate from the Kingdom of Sahali entrance sequence. The Old Rattle-Drum is used at three locations to open a route to the Bottom of the Well and Mad Tiger; PC Gamer’s Old Rattle-Drum guide explains the item and its locations. Six Buddha’s Eyeballs can be used to summon Shigandang, and Loong encounters form another optional track. These are hidden content, but they are not additional steps in the five-area route described here.

Chapter 3: Mount Mei through the Great Pagoda
Meet the prerequisites, then speak to the NPC
- Complete the principal secret areas in Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5.
- Complete the Chapter 3 Treasure Hunter quest. See PowerPyx’s Treasure Hunter quest walkthrough for its route.
- From the Snow-Veiled Trail shrine in the Pagoda Realm, follow the snowy path to the wooden bridge and continue to the large gate.
- Enter the Great Pagoda and speak to the NPC at the top of the stairs. The sequence transports you to Mount Mei.
- Continue up the mountain to its shrine and proceed through the boss sequence: Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, followed by the Four Heavenly Kings.
Mount Mei is the final gated area, not a substitute for the earlier secret areas. For the hidden ending, return to Chapter 6 after the Mount Mei sequence and defeat the final bosses again. The route guides describe shrine fast travel and free roam after the finale, so you can return to earlier regions. If you want to remain in the current save, do not start a New Cycle. Do not count the Painted Realm as one of the five
The Zodiac Village, also called the Painted Realm, is a useful NPC hub. GGExplore explicitly distinguishes it from the five secret areas associated with this route. Reaching it does not replace the four earlier chapter-area prerequisites for Mount Mei.

Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain
Defeat Venom Daoist twice, then use the wall
- At Webbed Hollow’s Pool of Shattered Jade shrine, take the path to the large hanging spider cocoon and attack it until Venom Daoist emerges.
- Defeat him in this first encounter; he flees rather than opening the secret area.
- Later, at the Temple of the Yellow Flower’s Court of Illumination shrine, turn around and follow the path opposite the shrine.
- At the fork, take the left route to trigger the second Venom Daoist encounter. Defeat both phases.
- Interact with the wall ahead after the second fight to enter Purple Cloud Mountain.
One Venom Daoist encounter is not enough. The wall interaction after the second fight is the entrance trigger. Scorpionlord and Duskveil are among the bosses in Purple Cloud Mountain.
Chapter 5: Bishui Cave
Complete the Ox’s Five Element Carts questline
- In the Flaming Mountains region, complete the Ox’s Five Element Carts questline.
- Follow the opened route into Bishui Cave and continue to its principal hidden boss, Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast.

Returning to earlier areas
The route guides describe shrine fast travel and the ability to roam after the Chapter 6 finale, allowing you to revisit earlier regions. Avoid starting a New Cycle if your goal is to keep exploring on the current save, as PowerPyx warns that doing so moves you into a new cycle.
