Black Myth: Wukong launched on Xbox Series X|S on August 20, 2025. It is now available through the Xbox Store, where players can choose between the standard game and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The original “August 20th” announcement referred to 2025—not an upcoming release.
When did Black Myth: Wukong come out on Xbox?
The Xbox Series X|S release date was August 20, 2025, according to the Xbox Store and Xbox Wire’s launch-week coverage. The game is no longer a forthcoming Xbox release.
Xbox followed the PC and PlayStation 5 launch, both dated August 20, 2024 on the Black Myth series hub. The Xbox Store lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming as play options; check the local listing for current availability and supported options.

For a practical sense of its combat, Xbox Wire’s launch guide characterizes it as drawing on Soulslike, RPG and boss-rush conventions. The guide notes that the Destined One has no block or parry abilities and advises relying on dodging and sprinting. That is Xbox Wire’s description and guidance, not a claim that every player will approach combat the same way.
Which Xbox editions are available, and what does Deluxe add?
The Xbox Store lists a standard edition and Black Myth: Wukong Digital Deluxe Edition. Xbox Wire’s August 2025 guide describes Deluxe as including the full game, a Bronzecloud Staff, Folk Opera-themed equipment, the Wind Chimes curio and a selected digital soundtrack.
