Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass PC, and Game Pass Console subscribers were eligible for early access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta in 2024. That limited early-access period ran August 30 through September 4; the open beta for all players followed September 6–9. Both periods have ended.
Which Game Pass plans got Black Ops 6 beta early access?
Activision’s June 2024 announcement named Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass PC, and Game Pass Console as eligible subscriptions for the beta’s Early Access period. Those are the plan names used at the time, not a description of the current Game Pass catalog. Activision’s 2024 preorder and beta details also cautioned that Game Pass Console subscribers might need to upgrade to Ultimate or add Game Pass Core for online beta content.
When did the Black Ops 6 beta start?
The multiplayer Open Beta Early Access ran August 30–September 4, 2024. The open beta for all players ran September 6–9, 2024, so players without early access could join during that later window. Xbox Wire’s beta guide described the event as a limited opportunity ahead of the game’s October 25, 2024 launch, not permanent access to the full game.
Did you need a beta code?
No code was needed for digital preorders or qualifying Game Pass subscriptions: those routes were automatically registered for Early Access. Some physical preorder routes used codes supplied by participating retailers, as detailed in Activision’s preorder information.
#1 Best Overall
- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
What was in the beta?
Xbox Wire said the beta let players try multiplayer features including Omnimovement, play a changing selection of maps and modes, and work toward beta rewards. The publisher said the development team would use beta data ahead of launch. Its guide for the first weekend listed Derelict, SCUD, Skyline, Rewind, Pit, and Gala, with modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Order, and Face Off.
Does Game Pass give access to the full game, and what platforms support it?
The beta announcement concerned a temporary multiplayer test; it should not be confused with access to the full game. In a separate May 28, 2024 Xbox Wire announcement about full-game launch availability, Xbox Game Pass Senior Community Lead Megan Spurr wrote: “We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass.” That statement was about launch-day availability, not the beta schedule.
