Black Ops 6 SMG camo challenges depend on the mode you play. Each weapon progresses through nine Military camos, two mode-specific Special Camos, and four mode-specific Mastery camos. Below are the Special Camo requirements listed in Season 5 guides; the current post-Season 5 roster and any later changes are not verified here, so confirm your weapon’s live requirements in the in-game Camo Hub.
How SMG camo progression works
Camo progress starts as soon as you have a weapon; leveling it is not required, according to Activision Support’s October 23, 2024 progression guide. For each weapon and mode, the path is Military, Special, then Mastery.

- Military: Earn nine camos in sequence for each weapon. In Multiplayer, the launch requirements were 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 headshots. The corresponding camos are Granite, Woodland, Savanna, Splinter, Moss, Shade, Digital, Tide, and Red Tiger, respectively.
- Special: Complete that weapon’s nine Military camos in a mode to unlock its two Special Camo challenges for that mode. You can complete the two in either order. Special Camos are universal once earned, subject to the game’s unlock conditions.
- Mastery: Each mode has four Mastery tiers. They are earned individually per weapon, but later tiers also require weapon-class or broader weapon milestones; completing one SMG’s Special Camos alone does not finish every Mastery tier.
Mastery names differ by mode: Multiplayer has Gold, Diamond, Dark Spine, and Dark Matter; Zombies has Mystic Gold, Opal, Afterlife, and Nebula; Warzone has Gold Tiger, King’s Ransom, Catalyst, and Abyss. Do not assume a threshold from one mode applies to another. See the official Call of Duty progression overview for the system.
Multiplayer SMG Special Camo challenges
The following requirements are from Dot Esports’ guide updated through Season 5. Unlock all nine Multiplayer Military camos on a weapon first; then complete its two Special challenges in either order.

These Zombies requirements are mode-specific, not alternate wording for the Multiplayer challenges. The Season 5 Dot Esports list provides the first eight rows; One Esports lists the Ladra row. Its retrieved list did not include an LC10 row, so no LC10 Zombies requirements are listed here.
