No. Lasombra and Toreador are not locked behind DLC in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Paradox originally announced them as paid add-on clans in August 2025, then reversed that plan in September: all six clans were included in the base game at launch on October 21, 2025.
How the paid-clan plan changed
On August 19, 2025, Paradox announced that the base game would include Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, and Ventrue. Lasombra and Toreador were presented as additional playable clans in the Shadows & Silk add-on, bundled with the Premium Edition or available separately for the publisher’s suggested retail price of $21.99/£18.69/€21.99. Paradox’s August announcement is the source of the headline’s claim—but it was superseded before release.
On September 17, Paradox said both clans had been added to the base game and would be playable by everyone at launch. Marco Behrmann, White Wolf Executive Vice President and Bloodlines 2 Executive Producer, said: “Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing,” Paradox’s September 17 announcement documented the change. The game then launched on October 21, 2025.
Which clans are in the base game?
The released game’s six playable clans are Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, Ventrue, Toreador, and Lasombra. Paradox confirms the roster in its game overview and launch announcement. You do not need to buy an add-on to access either Lasombra or Toreador.

What do the editions add?
The clan change did not eliminate paid extras. The editions differ by add-on content and, for the physical Premium Edition, collector items. The prices below are Paradox’s suggested retail prices published in 2025, not a live check of local storefronts; actual price and availability can vary by platform and region.

The Deluxe and Premium contents and add-on prices were announced by Paradox in 2025; the original edition announcement described the Expansion Pass as becoming available at launch. Its listed 2026 windows for Loose Cannon (Q2) and The Flower & The Flame (Q3) have passed or are underway as of October 8, 2026. The cited announcements do not confirm the packs’ exact delivery dates or current availability, so check the relevant platform listing for their status and current price.

What about physical copies and launch bonuses?
Paradox announced a Day One Edition containing the base game and the Bloodlines Nostalgia Jukebox pre-order bonus. Select retailers were also to offer a physical necklace inspired by the Cross of St. James. Physical Premium packages were described as limited and regionally available. These details do not establish current retailer stock or pricing; check listings in your region. Paradox names Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 among the game’s platforms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which version should you choose?
- Choose the base game if you want to play and access all six clans without buying extra content.
- Consider Deluxe if you want the Santa Monica Memories cosmetic pack.
- Consider Premium if you want the Expansion Pass’s listed extras, or the physical collector items if that edition is available in your region.
Those are content distinctions, not a current value ranking: Paradox’s 2025 reference prices do not establish which edition is the better deal at today’s local storefront prices.
