Is Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 1 free?
Yes. 2K and Gearbox released Bounty Pack 1 free to all Borderlands 4 players on November 20, 2025. The free pack is separate from the paid Bounty Pack Bundle, which covers later post-launch packs. The base game is required. 2K’s release announcement described the first pack as a thank-you to the community.
How do you start How Rush Saved Mercenary Day?
- Install the November 20 Update.
- Go to any major hub in Borderlands 4.
- Find and interact with the gift-wrapped present marked as a new mission.
The November 20, 2025 announcement lists Borderlands 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. That platform list reflects the announcement at launch; it does not establish compatibility on platforms added later.
What is included in Bounty Pack 1?
The pack’s story centers on Rush, leader of the Outbounders, who enlists the player to stop Minister Screw, a Timekeeper underling trying to keep Kairos celebrations bland and uniform. The missions play out around Mercenary Day.

How is Bounty Pack 1 different from the Bounty Pack Bundle?
Bounty Pack 1 is free for players who own the base game. Packs 2 through 5 are paid post-launch content; 2K’s November 20, 2025 announcement says they are included with the Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, or Bounty Pack Bundle, and are also sold separately.
The official edition guide, updated June 30, 2026, describes the Bounty Pack Bundle as including four unique areas with missions and bosses, four Vault Cards, gear and weapons, cosmetics, and four new vehicles. If you do not own Borderlands 4, the Standard Edition is the base-game purchase option; 2K’s guide says it is physical on consoles and digital on all platforms.
