Breach Ring refers to two different item bases. In Path of Exile (PoE 1), it is a legacy ring whose properties are doubled in certain Breach content. In Path of Exile 2, it is a level 40 ring base with an implicit that raises its maximum quality. The mechanics and availability are not interchangeable.
Path of Exile: a legacy ring tied to Breach encounters
In the original Path of Exile, Breach Ring is a legacy ring base, not the Path of Exile 2 quality ring. The PoE Wiki lists its item metadata as Metadata/Items/Rings/BreachRing and says it dropped corrupted and rare. The wiki currently describes it as drop-disabled, so players should not expect it as a normal drop.
What “properties are doubled while in a Breach” means
The base’s Breach-specific modifier is context-dependent. The PoE Wiki says it applies during original Breach encounters and in Breachstones, but does not work in the modern Breach encounters introduced by the Keepers-era rework. This is the wiki’s documented state as accessed October 8, 2026; mechanics may change in a later patch. It does not mean the ring doubles its properties everywhere.
Vendor recipe
The PoE Wiki records a vendor recipe that exchanges 60 Breach Rings for a Grasping Mail. This is a recipe for the original game and does not describe a Path of Exile 2 acquisition method.

Path of Exile 2: maximum quality, not doubled properties
In Path of Exile 2, Breach Ring is a level 40 ring base with an implicit that increases the maximum quality available to it. A third-party item database lists the current modifier as +20% to Maximum Quality. This is a cap on possible quality, not a statement that the ring automatically has 20% quality.
The distinction matters because quality is the value applied to an item, while maximum quality is the limit it can reach. The implicit raises that limit; the ring’s actual quality depends on the item and how it is improved.

Why older references say 50%
Older descriptions may show a 50% maximum-quality implicit. Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile 2 version 0.2.0 patch notes changed the implicit from 50% to 40% and said the chance for Breach Rings to drop was greatly reduced. The notes also said existing rings could be updated using a Divine Orb. The current item database’s +20% figure is distinct from that earlier patch-note cap; do not treat the old 50% value as the current modifier.
Availability and acquisition
The Path of Exile 2 Wiki describes acquisition as restricted. It says the ring can be created by the Genesis Tree using a Signet Wombgift while Otherworldly Clutch is allocated. Its version history says the base no longer drops from Breach encounters or Xesht in version 0.5.0 and is obtained solely from the Genesis Tree. These acquisition details are patch-sensitive; check the current in-game version before relying on them.
