Chicago Bulls rookie forward Caleb Wilson says the pace of NBA practices felt intense at first, but that Friday was more relaxed and positive. CBS Sports reported his comments on October 2, 2026; the report describes an early adjustment, not a forecast of how he will perform during the season.
What Wilson said about the pace
Wilson told CBS Sports that his first two days felt fast as he faced NBA-level talent, athletic players and gaps that closed quickly. He described a change in how the experience felt by Friday: “But now, it’s way more chill. [Friday] was a really good day for me.”
The NBA player profile’s October 2 news item identifies the acclimation report as coming from K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network. The available account does not describe a specific technical adjustment, a problem with the Bulls, or a quantified change in Wilson’s practice performance.
What his earlier Summer League numbers show
Wilson’s Summer League results offer a separate snapshot of his play before the October practice comments. The Bulls reported that he made the 2026 NBA All-Summer League First Team after averaging 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.5 blocks in 27.7 minutes across four games. Those are Summer League figures, not NBA regular-season statistics.

The Bulls’ setting for his rookie season
Wilson was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. In its September 22, 2026 season preview, NBA.com described Chicago’s group as youth-focused and identified Tiago Splitter as the team’s new head coach. That context does not establish what caused Wilson’s practice experience to feel more comfortable.
In introductory comments in June, Wilson spoke generally about being willing to work on areas needing improvement. Those remarks predate the October report and do not specify what he is working on in practice.

What the report does—and does not—establish
The October item captures Wilson’s account of the first days of NBA practices and his more positive Friday. It does not provide a practice transcript, detailed workout data or an official Bulls statement about the adjustment. It is therefore a limited early-season update rather than evidence of a lasting change or a prediction about his rookie results.
