What happened to Bully Online?
Bully Online launched in Early Access in December 2025. On January 15, 2026, Ars Technica reported that the project had been taken down after about a month. Its source code and project pages had been removed, and the official server was to be shut down alongside deletion of account data. Ars Technica’s shutdown report did not establish a public reason for the decision.

Time Extension reproduced a message attributed to the development team in a Discord post, saying the official server, script development, source code, project pages, launcher downloads, and account data would all be removed or stopped. That is a team message reported by Time Extension, not a statement from a named individual. Read Time Extension’s account.
The cited coverage does not establish that Rockstar or Take-Two caused the shutdown. It also does not rule out an unofficial archive or a later revival; it establishes that the official project was reported shut down and its official access routes removed.

What did the Early Access version include?
At launch, Insider Gaming reported that Bully Online advertised more than 60 minigames, roleplay, free roam, custom vehicles, restored beta content, map improvements, and easter eggs. Players could join servers, choose characters, earn in-game money through games, and buy characters. The figure of more than 60 minigames comes from launch coverage; it was not an independently verified count. Insider Gaming’s launch report describes the feature set.
How was it installed at launch?
Launch-era instructions described a PC setup requiring Bully version 1.200. Players were told to install derpy’s script loader and an ASI loader, download the Bully Online Launcher Pack, create an account, and connect through the launcher. Those instructions are historical: the shutdown reports say the official server and launcher downloads were taken down, so they do not show that online play or installation still works. Mods the launch instructions allowed
The instructions said not to use other mods except for listed exceptions: SilentPatchBully, The One Percent Better Project, Focus.asi, and mods limited to changes in World.img / World.dir or the TXD folder. They warned that other mods risked a ban. This was guidance for the live launch-era service, not a current way to avoid a ban or access the discontinued servers.
Can you download or play Bully Online now?
The January 2026 shutdown coverage says official launcher downloads and the project’s server were being removed. It does not provide a current official download or establish that an old launcher file will connect to a functioning service. Treat third-party copies as unofficial, and do not assume they are safe, complete, or capable of restoring online play.

What version of Bully did the mod require?
The launch instructions specified Bully version 1.200 on PC. That is the historical compatibility requirement, not evidence that buying or installing Bully now will let you use Bully Online. The shutdown reporting says the official server and launcher were taken down, and buying the base game does not restore them.
