Burning Sword: Death Sun has a new free demo on Steam. Nomadic Games and publisher Rising Tide announced its availability on October 1, 2026, describing a build that keeps the game’s demanding wuxia combat while adding light roguelite variation between attempts. The full game is still listed as “Coming soon.”
What’s in the new demo?
The October 1 announcement presents this as a new demo following an earlier prologue demo period in 2025. The developers say the core remains hardcore, wuxia-film-inspired combat, with light roguelite elements intended to vary the playstyle from one attempt to the next. The listed features are developer descriptions, not independently verified gameplay findings.
- Qi Drain: Steal life and Qi from enemies.
- Rebound: Send objects in the arena into enemies.
- Qinggong: Run up walls and float through the air.
- Boss duels: Face martial artists including chain fighters and masked assassins.
The official announcement says, “The brand new Burning Sword: Death Sun demo is out now, and it’s free for all to try.” You can find the Steam store listing and the Steam Community announcements.
Why was the earlier demo removed?
Steam Community records a prologue demo period in June 2025, with posts about three formidable martial artist encounters and using arena objects in combat. That earlier prologue is distinct from the brand-new demo announced on October 1, 2026. The latest announcement says the new demo is live; check the Steam listing for current availability.

What is Burning Sword: Death Sun?
It is a single-player wuxia hack-and-slash developed by Nomadic Games and published by Rising Tide. Steam’s premise follows Zhang Yixian on a quest for revenge against Gao Tianqi, who is associated with the Death Sun poison. The full game has no announced release date in the current listing; its status is “Coming soon.” Rising Tide’s publisher catalog also lists the game as coming soon.
Controls, languages, and PC requirements
Steam lists full controller support, including Xbox and DualSense controllers, and recommends playing with a controller. Controller use is recommended, not required. The listing shows English and Thai interface, full audio, and subtitles; it also lists interface and subtitle support for Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), and Russian.
