Black Ops 6 Zombies has 15 camo challenges per weapon before counting the four weapon-specific Mastery finishes: nine sequential Military Camos, two weapon-specific Special Camos, then Mystic Gold, Opal, Afterlife and Nebula. This guide lists every documented Special Camo requirement, the complete Military and Mastery progression, class gates, enemy classifications, farming advice and tracking fixes.
Scope: this list covers the publicly documented Black Ops 6 weapon and camo additions through the final Season 5-era weapon pool, comprising 62 weapons. It is for BO6 Zombies, not Multiplayer, Warzone or the separate Black Ops 7 camo system. Black Ops 6 is no longer the current annual Call of Duty title as of August 10, 2026, so verify any later client-side changes in Barracks → Challenges → Camo Hub.
How the Black Ops 6 Zombies camo system works
Every BO6 Zombies weapon follows the same broad progression:
- Complete the weapon’s nine Military Camos.
- Complete both of its Special Camos.
- Complete its Mystic Gold challenge.
- Meet the weapon-class requirement to unlock its Opal challenge, then complete Opal.
- Earn Opal on 33 eligible weapons to unlock Afterlife challenges, then complete Afterlife on the weapon.
- Earn Afterlife on 33 eligible weapons to unlock Nebula challenges, then complete Nebula on the weapon.
Military and Mastery Camos are weapon-specific. Special Camos are earned through a particular weapon’s challenges, but an unlocked Special Camo can be used more broadly on eligible weapons under the current equip rules. The challenges themselves can be completed in either order.

There is no weapon-level requirement before you can begin a weapon’s Zombies camo grind. However, the weapon must be available in your loadout, and the individual challenge must be unlocked by the preceding camo progression.
The five-Military-Camo Special Camo change
Older BO6 guides commonly say that all nine Military Camos are required before a Special Camo can be equipped. That is outdated. Season 2 changed the equip requirement: an unlocked Special Camo can be equipped on a weapon after that weapon has five Military Camos. This change does not bypass the weapon’s complete progression requirements for Mystic Gold or the later Mastery Camos. See the official Season 2 patch notes for the change and Challenge Tracker additions.
All nine BO6 Zombies Military Camo challenges
These are the standard Military Camo requirements for a weapon. The challenges unlock in sequence, and their totals add up to 6,900 qualifying kills per weapon.
| Camo | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Slate | 100 Critical Kills |
| Desert | 200 Critical Kills |
| Evergreen | 300 Critical Kills |
| Rugged | 400 Critical Kills |
| Grim | 600 Critical Kills |
| Stripe | 800 Critical Kills |
| Oceanic | 1,000 Critical Kills |
| Whiteout | 1,500 Critical Kills |
| Purple Tiger | 2,000 Critical Kills |
Military Camo exceptions: do not assume that every weapon uses Critical Kills. Launchers and melee weapons use ordinary eliminations. The Pack-a-Punched GS45 and LR 7.62 also use Eliminations rather than Critical Kills because their Pack-a-Punch behavior becomes explosive. Current tracker references list ordinary Zombies kills for the D1.3 Sector; check that weapon’s live Camo Hub entry because third-party databases do not always agree. Other unusual or explosive weapons should also be checked in-game.

BO6 Zombies Mastery Camo requirements
| Mastery Camo | Per-weapon requirement | Additional gate |
|---|---|---|
| Mystic Gold | Get 10 kills rapidly 15 times. | Complete all nine Military Camos and both Special Camos on that weapon. |
| Opal | Get 30 Special Zombie Eliminations. | Earn the required number of Mystic Gold weapons in that weapon’s class. |
| Afterlife | Get 20 or more consecutive kills without taking damage 10 times. | Earn Opal on 33 eligible weapons across the BO6 pool. |
| Nebula | Get 10 Elite Zombie Eliminations. | Earn Afterlife on 33 eligible weapons across the BO6 pool. |
The 33-weapon gates are global account progression requirements, not per-class requirements. You do not need to complete every weapon in BO6. Post-launch weapons can substitute for difficult launch weapons, and adding weapons does not automatically increase the global requirement above 33. The Mastery names and progression are also documented in the official BO6 progression guide.
Mystic Gold class gates for Opal
Before Opal appears for a weapon, Mystic Gold must be earned on the required number of weapons in its class. These are the launch-era thresholds used by the BO6 system:
| Weapon class | Mystic Gold weapons needed |
|---|---|
| Assault Rifles | 7 |
| Submachine Guns | 6 |
| Light Machine Guns | 3 |
| Shotguns | 2 |
| Marksman Rifles | 4 |
| Sniper Rifles | 3 |
| Pistols | 4 |
| Launchers / Special Weapons grouping | 2 |
| Melee Weapons | 2 |
The Camo Hub is authoritative if your client presents Special Weapons separately or uses a different combined-class label. DLC weapons do not automatically make these thresholds rise. This fixed-count structure is why you can choose substitutes instead of completing every weapon in a class. For more detail on the class gates, see PC Gamer’s Mastery Camo breakdown.

Each weapon below has two Special Camos. The nine Military Camos listed above apply before the weapon’s first Mastery Camo becomes available, subject to the Military exceptions noted earlier. Requirement wording is preserved as closely as possible because terms such as affected by Tactical Equipment, killed by Tactical Equipment, with an Ammo Mod equipped and while Pack-a-Punched can track differently.

D1.3 Sector correction: some published lists incorrectly show Moontrail twice. The second Zombies Special Camo is Gutter Ball: 300 eliminations while Pack-a-Punched. If the live Camo Hub uses slightly different wording for the D1.3 Sector’s Military Camos, follow the client’s counter.

Opal and Nebula use different enemy categories. Killing an enemy because it is large, armored or dangerous does not necessarily mean it satisfies either category.
| Challenge type | Reliable examples | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Special Zombie | Mangler; other map-specific enemies confirmed by the current counter | Manglers are the most consistent target for Opal farming and many weapon-specific challenges. |
| Elite Zombie | Abomination, Amalgam and other enemies labeled Elite by the game | Elite kills are the relevant targets for Nebula. Abominations and Amalgams are normally treated as Elite, not interchangeable with Manglers for Opal. |
Enemy classifications can vary with map-specific variants and later patches. When a new enemy is introduced, treat the in-game challenge counter or kill medal as the final authority. Community enemy references distinguish Manglers as Special Zombies and Abominations or Amalgams as Elite targets; see Game8’s BO6 enemy classification reference.
How to view and track camo challenges
Current Camo Hub route
Use Barracks → Challenges → Camo Hub. The Camo Hub is the best place to see current client data rather than relying on an older launch guide. It can show weapons by class, the next challenge for each weapon, both Special Camos, Mastery progress and progress toward class gates.
Later Camo Hub updates also added progress counters for Gold and the higher-tier weapon requirements. Menu labels can vary slightly by platform or update, so use the Zombies section and follow the counter attached to the weapon or class.
Individual weapon route
The conventional weapon-specific path is:
Weapons → Loadouts → select a weapon → Gunsmith → Customize → Camos
Use this route when you want to inspect or equip a particular finish. If the Camo Hub and Gunsmith appear to disagree, restart the game and check the Camo Hub again before assuming that the challenge failed.

Challenge Tracker
Season 2 added a manual Camo Challenge Tracker that supports up to 10 tracked challenges. Track the weapons you are actively farming. As progress advances, the next camo for a tracked weapon can populate automatically; available slots may also surface challenges that are close to completion. The tracker is especially useful when several guns share requirements such as Ammo Mods, Armored Zombies or rapid Critical Kills. Details are in the official Season 2 notes.
Practical farming methods for each challenge type
The most reliable approach is to make the challenge condition true before the kill occurs, keep the weapon in hand when the enemy dies, and check the counter during or immediately after the match. These are general methods rather than a promise that one map or mode is permanently the fastest; Directed Mode behavior and enemy spawns are patch-sensitive.
Critical Kills and rapid Critical Kills
- Aim for the enemy’s registered weak spot. It is not always the head, particularly on Special and Elite enemies.
- For a challenge such as Five Critical Kills rapidly, 15 times, build a controlled group of ordinary Zombies and complete each five-kill sequence without letting the interval expire.
- Complete ordinary Critical Kill Military Camos before Pack-a-Punching weapons whose upgraded firing behavior makes critical-hit registration unreliable.
- The GS45 and LR 7.62 are the major documented exceptions: their Military Camo tracks use Eliminations, not Critical Kills.
Ammo Mod challenges
Equip the named Ammo Mod at an Arsenal Machine or through the current in-game upgrade method before farming. The weapon must receive credit for the kill, and the requirement may say that the mod must be equipped or installed. Do not assume that a trap, Field Upgrade, teammate or damage-over-time effect will count as a weapon-and-mod kill.
For shared farming sessions, avoid letting another player finish the enemy. If the counter does not move, test direct kills against ordinary Zombies with the required weapon visibly in hand and no competing effect active.
Rare rarity or higher
Upgrade the weapon to Rare, Epic or Legendary before attempting a rarity challenge. Weapon rarity and Pack-a-Punch are separate systems: a Pack-a-Punched weapon is not automatically Rare or higher. Check the weapon’s rarity color on the HUD. Wall-buy and Mystery Box weapons may still need a rarity upgrade.
Pack-a-Punch challenges
For requirements that say while Pack-a-Punched, upgrade the weapon before the kill. A Pack-a-Punch camo or visual effect alone is not sufficient proof that the upgrade is active. Confirm the weapon’s HUD state and watch the challenge counter. This matters for the D1.3 Sector, Nail Gun and other weapons with Pack-a-Punch-specific Special Camos.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Tactical-affected and Field Upgrade kills
For a requirement that says enemies must be affected by your Tactical, apply the Tactical first and kill the affected enemies with the tracked weapon. For requirements that say enemies are killed by Tactical Equipment, do not substitute ordinary gun kills unless the live wording and counter confirm that it works. The Cypher 091’s Glacial Blast requirement is different again: it asks for 100 kills shortly after using a Field Upgrade.
Hipfire, Point Blank and no-reload challenges
- Hipfire: do not aim down sights; use a close, controlled group of ordinary Zombies.
- Point Blank: fight at very close range, but avoid damage that could end an Afterlife streak.
- Without reloading: begin with a full magazine, earn the required kill sequence, and avoid any reload input until the sequence is complete.
For rapid or no-reload challenges, a smaller controlled group is usually more reliable than firing into a chaotic horde. Confirm each completed sequence before moving to the next.
Armored Zombies, Parasites and Vermin
These challenges require the named enemy type, not simply any Zombie. Keep the tracked weapon in hand for the final blow and verify the counter after a few kills. Parasite and Vermin spawns are map- and round-dependent, so combine several weapons with the same target requirement in one run where possible.

Manglers and Opal
Manglers are normally the most practical Special Zombie target for Opal and for weapon challenges requiring Mangler kills. Directed Mode can help by limiting round escalation and making enemy composition more predictable, but spawn behavior can change after patches. Do not count Abominations or Amalgams as interchangeable Mangler substitutes unless the current in-game tracker confirms that they are being credited as Special Zombies.

Afterlife
Afterlife requires 10 separate streaks of at least 20 consecutive kills without taking damage. It does not require 200 uninterrupted kills.
- Use a low-pressure round or a controlled Directed Mode segment.
- Use defensive Perks, Armor and Field Upgrades.
- Choose an open area where incoming attacks are visible.
- Avoid incidental damage from Parasites, environmental hazards, fire and melee hits.
- Close-range melee weapons can work, but they are less forgiving if the area cannot be safely contained.
- If you take damage, the current streak ends; start another 20-kill sequence.
Nebula
Nebula requires 10 Elite Zombie Eliminations with the individual weapon. A controlled workflow is:
- Complete the weapon’s Military Camos, Special Camos and Mystic Gold.
- Complete Opal and Afterlife for that weapon.
- Enter a map and mode with predictable Elite spawns.
- Use other equipment to weaken an Elite if necessary, but finish it with the tracked weapon.
- Check the Elite counter immediately after the kill.
- Repeat until the weapon reaches 10/10.
Community guides often recommend Directed Mode or controlled rounds for Elite farming. Treat that as a strategy recommendation, not a guaranteed spawn schedule or universally fastest method.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a Zombies camo challenge may not be tracking
Check the condition before changing your loadout
- Was the tracked weapon in your hands when the enemy died?
- Does the challenge require a Critical Kill, or only an ordinary elimination?
- Was the enemy the correct category: ordinary Zombie, Armored Zombie, Vermin, Parasite, Mangler, Special or Elite?
- Was the weapon Rare or higher when the kill happened?
- Was it Pack-a-Punched before the kill?
- Was the required Ammo Mod equipped or installed before the kill?
- Did a trap, Scorestreak, Wonder Weapon, teammate or damage-over-time effect deliver the final blow?
- Is the weapon one of the documented Military Camo exceptions?
GS45 or LR 7.62 Critical Kills stopped counting
This is expected under the official change. The Military Camo requirement for the GS45 and LR 7.62 was changed to Eliminations because their Pack-a-Punched attacks become explosive and cannot reliably produce normal Critical Kill tracking. Farm the current elimination requirement shown by the Camo Hub instead.

First confirm that the weapon has at least five Military Camos under the Season 2 equip rule. Also check that you are viewing the Zombies camo rather than the Multiplayer or Warzone version of the same weapon, and that you are editing the base weapon rather than a Blueprint-specific appearance. If the unlock notification appeared but the finish remains unavailable, restart the client and inspect the weapon through the Camo Hub.
D1.3 Sector shows Moontrail twice
That is a repeated guide-data error, not the intended two-challenge set. The second D1.3 Sector Special Camo is Gutter Ball: 300 eliminations while Pack-a-Punched. Current trackers and weapon databases identify it separately from Moontrail.
Bo Staff Destruction does not progress
The Bo Staff’s Destruction Special Camo had a progression issue addressed in a Season 2 update. If an old save or stale UI still fails to track it, restart the client, confirm that the current patch is installed, and test direct Bo Staff eliminations with Dead Wire equipped. Avoid relying on environmental kills, teammate damage or indirect finishes while testing. Check the official Season 2 notes and Activision’s BO6 known-issues page for status information.
Opal, Afterlife or Nebula is still locked
Weapon-count progress is not a substitute for the individual weapon’s prerequisites. To unlock and complete Nebula on a weapon, that weapon must have:

- All nine Military Camos.
- Both Special Camos.
- Mystic Gold.
- Opal.
- Afterlife.
There is also a specific order to the global gates:
- Opal challenges: Mystic Gold on the required number of weapons in the weapon’s class.
- Afterlife challenges: Opal on 33 eligible weapons.
- Nebula challenges: Afterlife on 33 eligible weapons.
Therefore, completing Opal on 33 weapons does not unlock Nebula. It only satisfies the global requirement for Afterlife; Nebula requires Afterlife on 33 weapons as well.
Quick completion checklist
- Open Barracks → Challenges → Camo Hub and confirm the current weapon roster and displayed requirement.
- Complete the nine Military Camos, remembering that launchers, melee weapons, GS45, LR 7.62 and unusual weapons may use elimination-based exceptions.
- Complete both Special Camos in either order.
- Complete Mystic Gold: 10 rapid kills, 15 times.
- Reach the class’s Mystic Gold gate and complete Opal: 30 Special Zombie Eliminations.
- Earn Opal on 33 weapons to open Afterlife challenges.
- Complete Afterlife: 20 or more consecutive kills without taking damage, 10 times.
- Earn Afterlife on 33 weapons to open Nebula challenges.
- Complete Nebula: 10 Elite Zombie Eliminations.
- After every unusual kill condition, check the counter before leaving or saving the match.
For a second reference on the complete weapon list and Special Camo requirements, compare the documented BO6 Zombies camo list with the live Camo Hub. The Hub should win whenever a later client update differs from a published table.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Zombies camos does every BO6 weapon have?
Each weapon has nine Military Camos and two weapon-specific Special Camos, followed by four Zombies Mastery Camos: Mystic Gold, Opal, Afterlife and Nebula. That is 15 camo challenges or finishes in the full weapon progression, although some guides count only the 11 Military and Special Camos when they say a weapon has 11 standard camos.
Recommended Free Tools
Do I need every BO6 weapon for Nebula?
No. The BO6 system requires Afterlife on 33 eligible weapons to unlock Nebula challenges. The 33-weapon gate is fixed and later weapons can substitute for difficult launch weapons. You still need to complete all prerequisites on the individual weapon receiving Nebula.
Are Manglers Elite Zombies in BO6?
Manglers are generally treated as Special Zombies, making them the most reliable Opal target. Abominations and Amalgams are normally treated as Elite Zombies for Nebula. Always confirm a new enemy’s classification with the current in-game counter.
Why are my Pack-a-Punched GS45 or LR 7.62 Critical Kills not counting?
Their Military Camo requirements were changed to Eliminations because Pack-a-Punched versions become explosive and do not reliably generate normal Critical Kill tracking. Follow the elimination requirement shown in the Camo Hub.
What is the correct second Special Camo for the D1.3 Sector?
It is Gutter Ball: 300 eliminations while Pack-a-Punched. Lists that show Moontrail twice contain a data error.
The Bottom Line
For BO6 Zombies, work from the Camo Hub rather than an old launch guide: finish the nine Military Camos and two Special Camos, earn Mystic Gold, then clear the class gate for Opal and the global 33-weapon gates for Afterlife and Nebula. The biggest sources of wasted time are misclassifying Manglers and Elites, treating Pack-a-Punch as the same thing as rarity, relying on indirect kills, and overlooking the GS45, LR 7.62 and D1.3 Sector exceptions.
