If Call of Duty: Mobile says “Resource download failed. Please try again later,” start with your connection, then restart the game and device, check available storage, and install any game update. On Android, clear the game’s cache. Save reinstalling for last. Activision documents these as general app-troubleshooting steps; it does not identify one confirmed cause or a guaranteed fix for this specific message.
What the error means—and what it doesn’t
The message means the game did not finish downloading an in-game resource. It may affect one optional pack or several downloads. Secondary troubleshooting guides list interrupted connectivity, limited storage, damaged temporary data, permissions, outdated app files, and temporary service problems as possibilities, but the message alone does not identify which one applies to your device.
By itself, this error does not show that your account is banned or that your device is permanently unsupported. Nor does it establish that the game’s servers are currently having a problem.
Try these fixes in order
- Check whether one pack or every download fails. If only one resource is affected, retry that pack later before resetting the whole app. If multiple players are reporting the same problem, check official notices; a shared service issue may not be fixable from your device.
- Switch or refresh your connection. Activision recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection for Call of Duty: Mobile and suggests restarting your wireless router if you can. If Wi-Fi still fails, try mobile data; you can also switch back to Wi-Fi to compare. - Restart the game, then the device. Close the game completely and reopen it. If the download still fails, restart your phone or tablet and try again. Activision includes restarting the app and device among its troubleshooting steps. Activision Support
- Check local free storage. If the device is nearly full, remove unused apps or large files, or clear caches from other apps, then retry. Activision does not publish a specific free-space target for this error, so a claimed amount such as 5–10 GB should not be treated as an official requirement or guarantee. - Update the game and device software. Check the official app store for a Call of Duty: Mobile update, and install any available system update. Activision includes app and system updates in its troubleshooting guidance. Activision Support
- On Android, clear the game cache. Open your device’s Settings, find Call of Duty: Mobile under Apps, open Storage, and choose Clear cache. Menu names can vary by Android device. Activision documents cache clearing for Android; it does not provide an equivalent COD Mobile cache-clearing step for iOS. Activision Support
- Temporarily test without a VPN, proxy, or Private DNS, if you use one. Secondary guides suggest these settings may interfere with downloads, but Activision has not confirmed them as causes of this error. Turn the setting off only long enough to retry; restore it if there is no improvement.
- Reinstall only if the simpler steps fail. Reinstalling means downloading the game again, so use it as a later step. Activision includes deleting and reinstalling the app in its iOS troubleshooting guidance and says to sign in with the same account afterward to reinstate progress and game data. Activision Support

How much storage do COD Mobile resources need?
Activision does not state a guaranteed amount of free storage for this error. The practical check is whether your device has enough local space for the download to complete: remove unused apps or large files, and clear other apps’ caches if needed. Activision links to iCloud backup guidance as one way to manage files on iOS, but cloud storage itself does not repair a failed COD Mobile download. Activision’s installation troubleshooting
