Then reopen CameraFi Live, swipe to its menu, and choose Video. Permission names and prompts vary by Android version, so you may see Photos and videos, Files, or older Storage wording.
Allow CameraFi Live to access media
- Leave CameraFi Live and open Android Settings.
- Tap Apps, choose CameraFi Live, then tap Permissions. If it is not shown in the first app list, open the device’s full app list and select it there. Android documents this general route in its app permissions help.
- Look for a media or file permission and allow access if it is denied. Depending on the phone and Android version, the label may be Photos and videos, Files, or the older Storage. CameraFi Live’s Google Play listing names
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, but that does not mean every current Android device will display that exact permission toggle. - Return to CameraFi Live. From the main screen, swipe to open the menu and tap Video to choose a video source. CameraFi’s Android beginner guide documents this control.
If the video still does not appear
- Check that the clip is on the phone. Find it in the device’s file manager or gallery. A clip that is only available through a cloud service may not be available to the app as a local file.
- Reopen CameraFi Live and check Video again. This is a useful next check after confirming access and local availability; CameraFi’s published guidance does not establish specific folder-scanning or indexing behavior.
- Ask CameraFi support if the file remains missing. If permission is allowed and the video is visible locally, consult the CameraFi tutorial and FAQ index or email [email protected]. Include your phone model, Android version, CameraFi Live version, file location, and what appears in the app to help explain the problem.
Why Android permission names differ
CameraFi Live’s Google Play listing, updated September 9, 2026, says the app supports adding video files while streaming and lists READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE with the description “To get photos.” The listing also says Android 5.0 or higher is supported. This describes the app listing, not the exact permission interface on every current Android release.
Android’s available media access depends on the operating-system version, the type of media, and how an app accesses it. The Android Developers guide to shared media describes version-dependent rules, including when READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE applies. Separately, Google Play policy encourages apps that need infrequent or one-time photo and video access to use the system picker rather than broad media permissions; that policy does not establish which file-selection method CameraFi Live uses. CameraFi’s official Android guide also describes a Gallery control for internal storage. The available sources do not establish a complete supported codec or format list, current folder-scanning rules, or how cloud-backed files behave. If a locally visible clip is still absent after permissions are allowed, CameraFi support is the appropriate route for app-specific diagnosis.
