What determines whether your 24/7 stream can accept donations?
There are two separate checks: access to YouTube Giving for your channel, and an eligible fundraiser attached to the livestream. YouTube’s setup guide allows fundraisers on live streams, including scheduled livestreams. Its reviewed Giving guidance does not list continuous duration as an exclusion; the channel, fundraiser, content, and livestream still need to meet applicable YouTube requirements.
YouTube does not document an unconditional approval or a maximum-duration guarantee for a 24/7 broadcast. Treat the answer as “not specifically excluded by the cited Giving guidance,” rather than a promise that any stream will remain live or eligible. YouTube notes that some channels outside these stated criteria may still have access. Check YouTube Studio’s Giving area rather than treating the list as a definitive account-by-account eligibility test.
Set up and attach the fundraiser
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Giving.
- Create a fundraiser or join one, then select an eligible nonprofit. You can request that a nonprofit be added if it is not available.
- Enter the fundraiser details and attach the relevant video or scheduled livestream.
- Publish the fundraiser. The donate button appears after its start date.
- For donations in live chat, make sure live chat is enabled. Viewers can also see the donation button on the stream’s watch page.

Confirm the nonprofit is eligible
YouTube Giving fundraisers support eligible US nonprofits. YouTube’s listed nonprofit requirements include:
- US 501(c)(3) public charity status.
- A Google for Nonprofits account.
- Opt-in to online fundraising through GuideStar.
- A creator request and compliance with YouTube monetization policies.
Private foundations are not supported under YouTube’s FAQ. A nonprofit may not appear in search if it has not opted in, is not registered in the required systems, or is listed under a different name. Check the nonprofit’s eligibility and listing before announcing the fundraiser.

Know how donations and other monetization work
YouTube says 100% of contributions go to the nonprofit and YouTube pays transaction fees. Its partner Network for Good collects and distributes donations. Disbursements are typically monthly; donations totaling less than $10 are disbursed annually. Donor contributions are non-refundable. Adding a fundraiser does not affect ads. There is a trade-off with other donation features: using Live Chat Donations on a livestream means Super Chat and Super Stickers cannot be used on that stream. Super Thanks is unavailable on videos with Donations. Choose the donation setup that best fits how you want viewers to support the channel.

Keep the stream technically live
Giving eligibility does not itself ensure a 24/7 broadcast will remain connected. YouTube’s general live-stream help lists several ways to stream, including an encoder, but does not set out a maximum duration in the cited guidance. Choose a setup that can maintain the broadcast and recover from interruptions; a fundraiser does not remove the need to follow YouTube’s live-streaming and content rules.
