Streaming continuously does not by itself qualify you for YouTube Shopping, make tags appear, or guarantee purchases or income.
How product tagging can earn money
YouTube Shopping offers two distinct routes:
- Products from other brands: Eligible creators can tag participating products through the YouTube Shopping affiliate program and may earn a commission when viewers make qualifying purchases.
- Your own products: If you connect an eligible store, you can tag products from that store. Eligible purchases may contribute to your earnings. The retailer controls product details, prices, stock, shipping, and applicable terms, which can change.
For affiliate products, the commission shown in YouTube Studio is an estimate based on the current rate. The rate in effect on the purchase date applies; rates can vary by item and seller, change with promotions or seller strategy, and differ when YouTube matches a tag to a local seller for an international viewer. YouTube also says a creator may earn on other eligible items bought after a viewer clicks a product tag. There is no single rate that can reliably predict what a continuous livestream will earn.
Who can use YouTube Shopping affiliate tags?
YouTube lists the Shopping affiliate program as available to eligible creators based in Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. Stated requirements include being in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), meeting YouTube’s subscriber threshold, not being a music or Official Artist channel or associated with music partners, and not having the channel audience set as Made for Kids or a significant number of videos marked that way. Eligible creators can check for access in the Earn section of YouTube Studio. Availability and requirements can change, so confirm the current rules in Studio before planning around the program. Can you tag Amazon products in a YouTube livestream?
Yes, but Amazon tagging has additional requirements. YouTube says creators must be in YPP and enrolled in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in the United States, Brazil, or India. U.S. creators must also link an active Amazon Influencer Program or Amazon Associates account to their YouTube channel. Check YouTube’s current instructions for the applicable market and account steps: Tag Amazon products with YouTube Shopping.

When livestream product tags may not appear
YouTube does not show product tags in certain cases, including content with claimed content, made-for-kids content, content deemed limited or ineligible for monetization, paid content, or content blocked for ads. A stream running 24/7 does not override these restrictions. You must also own or clear the rights needed for livestream content, including music rights. Review YouTube’s product-tagging guidance and make sure the stream complies with its monetization and copyright rules.
Make tagged products relevant and disclose your relationship
For products from other brands, YouTube says products should be featured prominently, used safely, and meaningfully related to the livestream topic. A tag is not a substitute for actually featuring the item: for example, a gaming livestream should demonstrate or discuss a tagged gaming accessory rather than leave unrelated products attached to the stream.

If the stream includes paid placements, use the appropriate paid product placement and endorsement disclosures. If you may earn commission, tell viewers clearly. YouTube’s creator tips recommend explaining products, demonstrating them, making it clear that viewers can shop, and disclosing that you may earn commission. See YouTube Shopping tips for livestreams.
Add products before, during, or after a stream
- Before or during the livestream: Use YouTube Studio’s livestream product-tagging controls to add eligible products. Check that each item is relevant to what viewers will see and hear.
- While live: In the desktop Live Control Room, you can enable automatic pinning so tagged products are pinned one after another, rotating every 60 seconds.
- After the stream: You can add product tags after the livestream. Products newly tagged afterward can appear in the replay.
Interface availability and product eligibility may vary. YouTube’s current steps are in Tag products in your live streams.

Affiliate products versus products from your own store
| Question | Other brands’ products | Your store’s products |
|---|---|---|
| How you earn | Potential commission on qualifying purchases through YouTube Shopping affiliate products. | Potential earnings from eligible purchases of your own tagged products. |
| Eligibility | You need to meet the affiliate program requirements and be in a supported country. Amazon tagging has additional requirements. | You need an eligible connected store and must meet YouTube’s applicable requirements. |
| Product and fulfillment details | Product availability and seller terms depend on participating brands and retailers; YouTube may match a tag to a local seller for an international viewer. | The retailer or store controls product details, price, stock, shipping, and its terms. |
| What the stream needs to do | Feature products prominently, safely, and in a way that is meaningfully related to the stream. | Tag products from the connected store and ensure the content accurately represents what is being offered. |
| Where the viewer buys | Through the eligible shopping option associated with the tag; available products and sellers can vary by viewer location. | Under the connected store’s purchase and fulfillment arrangements. |
| Universal earnings rate | Not stated; affiliate rates vary and can change. | Not stated; earnings depend on the store’s applicable sales terms. |
YouTube’s instructions for managing products from your store explain the store route. These routes are not interchangeable: check which products and selling arrangements are available to your channel and audience.
What YouTube’s shopping figures do—and do not—tell you
YouTube’s livestream Shopping tips cite 30 billion shopping-related watch hours on YouTube in 2023. That is a platform-wide viewing figure, not a forecast of sales or income for an individual creator. YouTube also reports that watch time for videos that help people shop increased by more than 25% in 2023, based on YouTube Internal Data, Global, 2024; that figure combines video-on-demand, Shorts, and live content, not livestreams alone. Neither number establishes what a particular 24/7 channel can earn.

Why a 24/7 schedule is not a monetization shortcut
YouTube’s published guidance describes creator eligibility, content restrictions, product relevance, geography, and purchase activity; it does not set out a special earnings rule for streams that run continuously. More hours live do not ensure that viewers see eligible tags or buy tagged products. A 24/7 stream still needs suitable content, rights clearance, compliant product placement and disclosures, and an audience whose purchases qualify under the applicable program terms.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your 24/7 stream uses prerecorded video, StreamNeo can keep it live on YouTube without leaving a home computer or internet connection running. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.
