Yes, potentially—but running a 24/7 stream does not by itself qualify a channel for ad revenue. An India-based channel needs to meet YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility requirements and be accepted, pass channel-level monetization review, and hold the necessary rights for the music it broadcasts. A livestream can also be interrupted by YouTube’s copyright systems, even when its operator believes the music is licensed.
What has to be true for a 24/7 channel to earn ad revenue?
There are three separate gates: qualifying for and joining YPP, meeting YouTube’s channel-wide monetization policies, and having rights that cover the music’s use in a live broadcast. Passing one does not guarantee passing the others.
- Meet the ad-revenue eligibility threshold. YouTube’s published threshold is 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. These are application thresholds, not a guarantee of acceptance. See YouTube’s YPP eligibility requirements.
- Meet the other account and policy requirements. YouTube also requires, among other things, YPP availability where you are based, compliance with channel monetization policies, no active Community Guidelines strikes, two-step verification, access to advanced features, and a linked or ready-to-create AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube reviews the channel after it applies.
- Obtain the relevant music rights. The rights must cover the actual livestream and the territories in which it is broadcast. Consider whether they also cover the archived stream and monetization. A licence for an uploaded video should not be assumed to authorize continuous live use.
YouTube’s India-localized YPP earning guidance describes the same ad-revenue thresholds and additional account, contract, and advertiser-friendly-content conditions. YouTube associates Watch Page Ads with the higher, 1,000-subscriber tier; acceptance into YPP and enabling a particular earning feature are separate steps, and feature-specific requirements apply.
Does streaming all day make the watch-hour threshold easier?
A 24-hour schedule is not a shortcut to eligibility. YouTube counts qualified viewing under its rules; a stream’s scheduled duration does not mean each viewer contributes 24 hours, nor does keeping a broadcast online guarantee the required accumulated public watch hours. The alternative Shorts threshold is based on qualified Shorts views over its stated 90-day period.

Can a looping music feed pass YouTube’s channel review?
Possibly, but the format alone cannot predict the result. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and are assessed at the channel level. The policies describe repetitive or mass-produced content as “inauthentic content,” which is ineligible for monetization. A channel built mostly from a static image and a repeated or automatically assembled music loop therefore faces a real originality and value question during review. That does not establish that every music livestream is automatically rejected.
On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and said the update clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible; it did not change the reused-content policy. Reviewers consider the channel overall, so the actual programming and the value of its content matter. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

What music rights does a live radio channel need?
YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public-performance rights), and other royalty participants. For a regional music channel, check the written terms for the specific recordings and compositions, live-stream use, relevant territories, monetization, and any archive or replay.
Identify all relevant rights holders and participants rather than assuming that permission from one party clears every part of a recording. The exact rights needed depend on the music and the licence; a licence for ordinary video uploads is not proof that continuous live broadcasting is covered.

Why can YouTube interrupt a licensed livestream?
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may show a placeholder and warning; if the content continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube says creators with a licence for third-party content should ask the rights owner to add the channel to the Content ID allowlist. An archived stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Allowlisting is a practical enforcement step, not a substitute for having the rights in the first place. Confirm both that the licence covers your use and that the relevant rights owner has allowlisted your channel when needed.

Does Creator Music license songs for a 24/7 live stream?
No. YouTube says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content, and its usage guidance limits Creator Music tracks to long-form videos rather than livestreams or Shorts. Its current guidance describes availability for U.S. creators in YPP, with expansion outside the United States pending. It is not an established licensing route for an India-based 24/7 music livestream. See the Creator Music FAQ and Creator Music usage details.
Likewise, do not treat the label “royalty-free” as proof that a catalogue permits livestreaming. Check its written terms for live use, territory, archives, and monetization.

What revenue should a creator expect?
YouTube’s published eligibility rules do not provide an approval rate or an earnings estimate specific to 24/7 regional music radio channels. There is no reliable basis here to forecast a particular channel’s revenue per view or likelihood of approval. Eligibility, YPP acceptance, rights clearance, and any applicable earning-feature requirements must be resolved before estimating whether ad revenue is available at all.
Keeping a YouTube feed running
For a do-it-yourself setup, an encoder or computer must keep sending the stream to YouTube; that operational choice does not change YPP eligibility, channel review, or music-rights obligations. StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider for prerecorded-video loops: it keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and a free first day.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the videos from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Every quality up to 4K 60fps is streamed as uploaded at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not go live from a camera. It cannot grant music rights or guarantee YPP acceptance, so clear the music and channel-policy issues separately. See StreamNeo, then start the free first day.
