Why slow mode does not necessarily block Super Chats
Slow mode puts a wait between comments from most viewers. It is a limit on comment frequency, not the same setting as turning live chat off. The channel owner, moderators, and channel members are exempt from the slow-mode rate limit, according to YouTube’s live chat moderation guidance.
YouTube says Super Chats and Super Stickers are available on eligible live streams and Premieres where live chat is on. Combining that rule with the description of slow mode supports the practical answer: slow mode can be enabled while viewers use Supers. The documentation does not expressly say that slow mode has no effect on Supers, however, so do not treat this as an explicit YouTube guarantee.
What must be true for Super Chats to appear
- Live chat is on. Super Chats and Super Stickers are unavailable if live chat or comments are turned off.
- The creator and channel qualify. Super Chat availability depends on creator eligibility, location, and compliance with YouTube’s applicable terms and policies. Check YouTube’s current eligibility, availability, and policy guidance.
- The video is an eligible type and status. YouTube lists age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos as ineligible for Supers.
- Slow mode may stay on. It limits most viewers’ comment frequency but is not, by itself in the guidance reviewed, listed as a Super Chat disqualifier.
YouTube’s pages cover eligible live streams generally and do not state a special rule for continuous 24/7 broadcasts. Duration alone is not listed as a reason Supers are unavailable; applying the general rule to a 24/7 stream is an inference, not a specific statement about uninterrupted streams.

Check the settings and eligibility if Super Chats are missing
- Confirm live chat is enabled for the stream. Slow mode is compatible with having chat on; disabling chat or comments is not.
- Check the stream’s visibility and audience status. Verify that it is not unlisted, private, age-restricted, or marked Made for Kids, and that it is not a YouTube Giving fundraiser video.
- Check channel-level eligibility and availability. Review YouTube’s Super Chat eligibility page for requirements that apply to your channel and location.
- Distinguish a slow-mode delay from a disabled feature. A viewer may have to wait before posting an ordinary comment; that alone does not establish that Super Chat is unavailable. If the feature is absent, investigate chat status and eligibility rather than assuming slow mode is the cause.
