Generally, yes. YouTube documents limits that allow a channel to have up to 10 active live streams at once, with no more than 3 using any one stream key. A monetized channel can enable ads on a live stream, too. But those rules do not expressly guarantee every channel can keep one stream running continuously while broadcasting another, and enabling ads does not guarantee that an ad will serve to every viewer.
Whether a 24/7 stream can earn revenue also depends on YouTube Partner Program eligibility, the channel’s monetization settings, content and rights policies, and whether YouTube’s ad system fills available slots.
Can two YouTube live streams be active at the same time?
YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance sets a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at the same time. If the channel has already reached either limit, it cannot start another stream.
That supports running a 24/7 stream while another video is live, provided the channel remains within both caps. YouTube’s documentation states the limits; it does not specifically promise that every channel or setup can maintain this exact continuous-plus-second-stream arrangement. Check the active streams and the key assigned to each broadcast in Live Control Room before starting another one.

Do not confuse two active streams with YouTube’s horizontal and vertical versions of one broadcast. YouTube describes those formats as sharing a stream URL and chat; they are not necessarily two independent broadcasts. Its format comparison lists pre-roll and mid-roll ads for horizontal streams, but not for the vertical live feed.
What must be in place for the 24/7 stream to earn ad revenue?
Concurrent streaming and monetization are separate questions. A stream can fit within the active-stream limits without being eligible to earn revenue. For Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from live content, the channel needs to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and to accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Monetization must also be enabled for the stream, and the content must meet YouTube’s applicable policies.

- YPP and module: Check the channel’s YPP status and confirm acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module. See YouTube’s earning overview and monetization settings guidance.
- Stream-level setting: Verify monetization is turned on for the specific live stream. Do not assume that starting a second broadcast automatically gives it the same settings as the first.
- Rights and suitability: The creator must have the necessary rights to the stream’s audio and visual elements, and the content must meet advertiser-friendly requirements and channel policies.
- Channel review: YouTube’s monetization policies apply to the channel as a whole, not only to the live stream currently on air.
Eligibility requirements and policy wording can change. Check YouTube’s current earning requirements and the settings shown in Studio rather than relying on a threshold quoted elsewhere.
Will YouTube actually show ads to viewers?
Turning on monetization makes the stream eligible for ads; it does not guarantee an impression. YouTube says, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Its system determines whether an available slot receives an ad, so some viewers may see no ad and delivery may vary over the course of a stream.

YouTube’s live-stream ad guidance describes pre-roll and display ads as automatically enabled when monetization is on. Mid-roll ads can be automatic or manual:
- Automatic: YouTube schedules mid-roll opportunities. Live Control Room can delay automatic mid-rolls for 10 minutes; this does not suppress manually placed breaks.
- Scheduled: Breaks can be set at 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30-minute intervals.
- Manual: The creator inserts breaks. If none are inserted, no manual mid-roll is served.
These are ad controls, not promises about how many ads will run or how much a channel will earn. YouTube reported that channels enabling automatic live mid-roll ads had over 20% higher average in-stream ad revenue per hour than channels that did not, averaged across 207 countries. That is YouTube’s group comparison from January 2024, not a forecast for an individual creator or evidence specifically about 24/7 broadcasts.

Can looping content put monetization at risk?
A stream is not automatically disqualified just because it runs continuously. The key question is what the channel broadcasts. YouTube’s channel monetization policies expect original, authentic content and warn that mass-produced, generic, or repetitive material may be ineligible. YouTube says, “Be your original creation.”
A minimally varied loop may therefore create a monetization risk, especially if the channel’s broader catalogue is repetitive. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, most-viewed and newest videos, watch-time distribution, metadata, and About section. The policy does not establish a universal decision for every continuous-stream format, so assess the actual content and the channel overall rather than treating duration alone as a guarantee of eligibility or disqualification.

How to check before running both broadcasts
- Check concurrency: In Live Control Room, review the active broadcasts and identify which stream key each uses. Keep the total at or below 10 active streams per channel and 3 per key.
- Check each stream’s monetization: Confirm the relevant live stream has monetization enabled. Review the ad controls for automatic, scheduled, or manual mid-rolls.
- Confirm channel eligibility: Verify YPP participation and acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module for Watch Page revenue.
- Review content and rights: Make sure you have rights to all audio and visual material, and evaluate whether a repeated loop and the channel’s wider content meet YouTube’s originality, advertiser-friendly, and monetization policies.
- Monitor delivery separately from eligibility: Ads being enabled does not mean every slot will fill. Treat ad serving and revenue as outcomes to monitor, not settings you can guarantee.
