Yes. You can play prerecorded videos in sequence through streaming software or a hardware encoder and send the continuous feed to YouTube Live. The playlist runs on the encoder side: YouTube’s official setup explains how to send an encoder feed, but does not document a native YouTube Live playlist control. That distinction matters when you choose how to keep the stream running.
How a prerecorded playlist reaches YouTube Live
An encoder converts your video into a digital format and sends the resulting live feed to YouTube. In this setup, the encoder or related playback workflow selects and plays each prerecorded video; YouTube receives the output as a live stream. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes connecting an encoder, not a built-in playlist of prerecorded videos.
- Prepare the videos and arrange them in the order you want them to play. Check that the selected software or encoder supports the playlist behavior you need, including transitions and what happens when the final item ends.
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the stream details in your encoder, configure the playlist in the encoder-side workflow, then start sending the feed. YouTube creates the watch page when the encoder starts sending content.
- Preview the stream before relying on it. Check that the video and audio are present and monitor their quality while live. Keep a local recording if you need an archive.
The exact playlist controls, transitions, restart behavior and failover depend on the software or hardware you choose. YouTube’s setup guidance does not establish a particular playlist tool or guarantee unattended playback, so check that tool’s documentation and test the complete sequence before broadcasting for 24 hours.
What to check before leaving a stream unattended
Playlist sequencing and recovery
Confirm what happens when a video ends, whether the playlist repeats or stops, and how the encoder behaves if a file is missing or playback fails. Test the full playlist from beginning to end, including any transition between videos. Also test the encoder, network connection and recovery path; YouTube’s encoder guidance does not promise uninterrupted service or specify how a playlist restarts after an interruption.

Monitoring and local recording
Preview the feed before going live, verify that viewers can access it, and monitor audio and video quality. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive. Do not assume its archive will preserve an entire 24-hour broadcast: streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube’s archive guidance gives that warning, so retain your own recording if a complete copy matters.
DVR rewind
For very long streams, DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. If viewers need to revisit earlier parts, plan a separate recording or shorter broadcasts rather than relying on DVR throughout a 24-hour stream. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Rights and monetization are separate questions
Secure the rights for every element
You need the necessary rights to use all content in the live feed on YouTube, including relevant music rights, and must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable laws. A playlist does not change those obligations. See YouTube’s live-streaming policies.
Permission does not guarantee monetization
YouTube reviews monetization separately from whether you have permission to use material. Its inauthentic-content policy can make repetitive or mass-produced content ineligible, while reused content can create a channel-level monetization problem when it lacks significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Permission from a rights holder alone does not satisfy the reused-content monetization policy. YouTube’s channel monetization policies describe these requirements.

Eligible creators may have live-stream earning features such as ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships, depending on channel eligibility and setup. Choose software or hardware for the job
YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Dedicated hardware is an option for production needs, not a requirement for sending prerecorded videos as a live feed. Choose based on playlist control, stability, monitoring, recording and how you will recover from interruptions. YouTube’s guidance does not rank specific tools or confirm that a particular encoder is suitable for unattended playlist playback. Start with a software workflow if it meets your needs; consider hardware when your production setup calls for it, and verify the device’s playlist and restart capabilities before depending on it.
