Usually, YouTube Audio Library tracks identified as copyright-safe will not be claimed by a rights holder through YouTube’s Content ID system. That does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 livestream or establish that every track is licensed for continuous worldwide live use. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and an archived stream can receive a Content ID claim after it ends.
What YouTube’s Audio Library assurance covers
YouTube says that copyright-safe music and sound effects downloaded from its Audio Library “won’t be claimed by a rights holder through the Content ID system.” The assurance is specific to tracks downloaded from YouTube’s own Library and to Content ID claims; it is not a promise that a livestream cannot be interrupted or that a track is cleared for every use outside YouTube. YouTube’s Audio Library guidance describes the catalog and its attribution options.
For a 24/7 stream, the practical answer is therefore: Library music is a safer choice for avoiding ordinary rights-holder Content ID claims than music from an unverified source, but no blanket guarantee of uninterrupted streaming or worldwide live-broadcast rights is stated in YouTube’s guidance.
Why a live stream can still be interrupted
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If it detects third-party material that remains in the broadcast, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. That live monitoring is separate from the Audio Library’s Content ID assurance: an interruption does not, by itself, show that a Library track was claimed.

If you enable archiving, there is also a post-broadcast check. YouTube says Content ID claims are made after a live stream is complete, so inspect the archived video in YouTube Studio once the broadcast has ended. YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams explains both the scanning and archived-stream process.
Choose the track and handle attribution
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Audio Library. Download the track there rather than using a copy found on another site; YouTube’s stated Content ID assurance applies to downloads from its Library.
- Check the track’s license and attribution information before adding it to your stream. If it is a Creative Commons track, include the generated attribution text in the video description.
- If you do not want a track that requires attribution, use the Audio Library filter for tracks marked Attribution not required.
- Keep a record of the track and its displayed license information. If a claim or interruption occurs, review the specific material identified in YouTube Studio rather than assuming the Library track was necessarily the cause.
YouTube’s Audio Library help page describes its download and attribution guidance. Track attribution requirements are distinct from whether the stream is detected or interrupted.

Live use, archived use, and other music sources
| Situation | What YouTube’s guidance establishes | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Audio Library track in a live stream | YouTube says copyright-safe Library downloads will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. Live streams are also scanned for third-party matches. | Use the Library download, meet its attribution terms, and monitor the live dashboard. |
| Archived livestream | YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the live stream is complete. | Check the completed video in Studio for claims or restrictions. |
| Music from an external “royalty-free” source | YouTube says only Audio Library music and effects are known to it to be copyright-safe; an external label or description does not prevent Content ID flags. | Verify the actual license and rights for your intended use. Do not treat “royalty-free” as equivalent to YouTube’s Library assurance. |
| Creator Music track | YouTube’s Creator Music usage guidance does not support licensing for live content and excludes livestreams from covered usage. | Do not assume a Creator Music license authorizes the track in a live broadcast. |

Worldwide rights and the limit of the answer
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including music licensing rights. The Audio Library’s Content ID statement is not a general legal clearance for use outside YouTube, nor does the Audio Library article expressly state that every track is licensed for continuous 24/7 live broadcasting in every territory. For non-YouTube use, or where the intended rights scope is uncertain, confirm the applicable track license independently. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and the Audio Library guidance.

If a stream is flagged or interrupted
- Review the live dashboard: identify the material YouTube detected and when it appeared. A stream can contain other third-party content beyond its background music.
- Check the archive after the broadcast: an archived stream has a separate, post-completion Content ID check.
- Verify the source and attribution: confirm that the music was downloaded from the Audio Library and that any Creative Commons attribution was included as required.
- Do not infer immunity from the Library assurance: YouTube does not promise that a Library track prevents interruptions caused by other material, mistaken matches, or other enforcement.
