Yes. You can loop a prerecorded video into a YouTube Live broadcast by enabling Loop on its OBS Media Source. OBS repeats the file in the encoder, which sends the resulting feed to YouTube. The loop setting does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast: the computer and internet connection still need to keep running.
How to loop a video on YouTube Live with OBS
YouTube’s player Loop command repeats an uploaded video for an individual viewer; it does not turn that video into a live broadcast. To stream a prerecorded video live, make the repetition happen in an encoder such as OBS.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and create or select the stream. Copy its stream URL and stream key.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS streaming settings, enter the stream URL and key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Add the video file. Create or select an OBS scene, add a Media Source, and choose the local video. Enable Loop so playback starts again when the file ends. OBS describes this setting as specifying whether the file plays again after playback has completed. OBS Media Sources.
- Start and check the feed. Start streaming from OBS, then check the preview and stream health in YouTube Live Control Room. Follow the selected YouTube workflow to click Go live if required.
- Keep the setup running. Leave OBS and the computer running, maintain a stable connection, and monitor audio, video, and stream health. To finish, stop sending the encoder feed; YouTube’s encoder instructions say, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
OBS’s VLC Video source is an option for a playlist rather than a single file. It can loop the playlist, but VLC must be installed for that source to be available. For one file, use the ordinary Media Source and its Loop setting. OBS Media Sources.
What all-day looping does—and does not—mean
With Loop enabled, OBS repeats the video in the outgoing feed. That answers whether the same file can replay during a live broadcast; it does not promise that a particular stream, computer, or connection will remain uninterrupted all day. YouTube recommends testing encoder settings, previewing the feed, choosing quality that works reliably on the available connection, and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
There is no single minimum computer specification established by the cited OBS and YouTube guidance. The computer must be capable of running the chosen encoder and sending a stable feed, so test your own setup rather than assuming that the Loop option removes the need for a working computer or network.
Separate limits: live broadcast, archive, and rewind
A long-running live feed, its saved replay, and a viewer’s ability to rewind while it is live are different things. YouTube’s documentation describes limitations for the latter two; its 12-hour guidance is not a stated maximum live duration.

- Archive: YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive warning, not a claim that the live feed must stop at 12 hours. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. YouTube: Archive live streams.
- Live DVR rewind: YouTube says DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. This affects viewers trying to rewind during the live broadcast. YouTube: Turn on DVR on live streams.
Copyright and content checks before you go live
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may cause YouTube to replace the feed, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even if you have licensed a third-party work, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Use only material you have the necessary rights to stream, and check the relevant YouTube guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
